Entry tags:!complete, day 18, location: carnival, remy lebeau, the doctor (ten)

Who: Remy LeBeau & The (Tenth) Doctor
Where: The Carnival
When: Day 18: 1:15PM
What:  Remy's looking for his lost Doctor
Rating: R. Oh yes. R.
Status: Complete

Remy's morning had been, well.. bad. He'd found two new arrivals, then he'd found Rose.. then the Doctor, who hadn't even shown any cares that he was alive and well. And then he'd returned that survey to the Management and headed right for the carnival-- since he had looked everywhere else for the Doctor between their argument and turning in the survey. There was only one place left to go, and the Cajun was headed right for those bumper cars inside the carnival, soaking wet and pleased about it, he moved through the metal gate surrounding the giant death trap that was the fun fair, and heading back through the twisted metal to the covered enclosure that housed the bumper cars.

It only took a moment for him to climb up and over, silent feet moving across the slippery surface and leaving wet shoe-prints in his wake, before he came to a stop near that bumper car and the Doctor kneeling next to it. But he didn't say anything. Not yet.

The Doctor smirked. "I did a good job fixing it last time," his words laced with humor. He had, too.

"Rotund. Absolutely obese. So large that you'd knock over a perfectly good Ferris Wheel if you climbed it."

Remy started talking about climbing the other side. "Won't matter, you're too big. You'll knock it down. Physics are not on your side here." Look at that, easy banter. It'd only taken a few hours and some very hurtful words. Words that still hung around between them if you squinted.

"Hey, I t'ink I'm star'in' t' starve t' deat'." He spoke up with a grin. It was a joke.. but it was also completely serious. The well-built Cajun had found protruding ribs where he'd had none two weeks earlier, and while he was used to the pain of hunger in his stomach, it was worse in this place, because he'd always been able to find something while out on the street. There was just nothing here. Nothing at all. And it was painful to think about. But it didn't mean he couldn't joke about it.

"Maybe I sen' your ass up 'dere. You only 'bou' eigh'y poun's soakin' we'. G'wan up 'dere an' see wha' you can see, le' us ot'er folk down here know." Yes, easy banter, light joking, and a smile on the red-head's face. But a lot had changed between them. Things wouldn't ever go back to the way they had been before, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Remy had puzzled out the way he felt now, and if he was going to go back in, he was going to go back in head first. It'd be all or nothing. He just had to bide his time and find the right opening.

"Oh, that's right, wasting away before my very eyes," the Doctor couldn't help but roll those same eyes up toward the blue sign in the rafters. He was relaxing again, beneath that blue sign with his friend beside him. Sure, all wasn't right with the world; but, things were pretty good.

Things couldn't go back to as they'd been before because the Doctor had his mind made up. Even though he walked a very fine line in this moment with his hand linked up to the Cajun's; he knew he couldn't let it go back to the land of constant hurt and ache. He'd hurt Gambit more than he'd made him smile - and that was just cruel.

"Want to split that?" He asked unhooking his hand as he leaned forward to pull the pouch off the hood of the bumper car. "Could be roast beef... or chicken.. or a burrito..." Didn't those all sound just so tempting, Gambit?
