Who: Open
What: Monitors placed around town. Please enjoy the entertainment presented to you, courtesy of TBTB
Where: Gas Station
When: Day 17 7:00am - close of day seventeen
Rating: TBA
Status: Active

A monitor appears atop a pump at the gas station.

This monitor will feature Sarah Jane Smith and Merope Gaunt. Sarah Jane and Merope will be shown taking part in the "See No Evil" experiment. Both characters will be bumbling around blind in an obviously well lit room. Scattered on the floor are a variety of balls which vary in size. Characters are tormented by an unseen force which becomes more violent as the episode progresses. There is no sound accompanying this monitor.

All monitors are black and white and are familiar to those characters who took part in "panic room." All are labelled "our dear departed." Monitors will go black at precisely 4:24 PM where all characters on screen will die for everyone to see.

With the additional details Selene was providing, Andy started thinking that perhaps something was going on that was hiding behind the proverbial smoke and mirrors. Normally, as far as Andy knew, the experiments were always the same for everyone involved, whether they took place at the same time and place or not. As far as he knew, they never used the same experiment twice. The powers that be were losing their luster by failing to be more original than tweaking previous experiments or they were doing it on purpose to throw the captives off.

"Fire?" he asked, frowning. His brow furrowed in frustrated thoughtfulness. "Same concept, different obstacles. That's fuckin' weird, man, they're...evolving..."

Taking a deep breath and shaking his head, Andy looked away from the monitor. "I can't watch this anymore. In the panic room, I saw enough death. I can't do it again," he said in a low voice, backing away a few steps and turning his back on the monitor.

As he seemed to ramble Selene looked over at him, curious. "Evolving? Like testing some people differently than others... testing for reactions perhaps..." It was her turn to think out loud, trying to objectively run over what she went through in her head. Her gaze flicked back to the monitor, and part of her realized she would be more interested if the experiment shown was identical to hers, so she would know what she had been dealing with in her blindness. As it was it didn't hold all that much interest to her since she didn't know either of the women, for starters.

She turned to look over at Andy as he backed away, visibly upset. Any remarks about her own experiences with death were held back; she was still trying to hide what she was from as many people as possible, for as long as possible. "There's no shame in not watching." she finally remarked quietly. She didn't want to watch either, but not because it bothered her. Instead Selene returned to her rummaging around, moving deeper into the gas station and eventually behind the register counter in search of a box-cutter or scissors. While it didn't entirely surprise her not to find either it was still disappointing. There had to be some sort of a blade somewhere. The search at least distracted her from the monitor.

At first, when Selene echoed his rambling with her own version of thinking aloud, Andy said nothing, only nodding solemnly. After a moment, when she looked back at the monitor, he furrowed his brow and spoke again. "Yeah, that's exactly what I think," he murmured. "And I don't like it."

The fact of the matter was, if the people running the show really were evolving their experiments, it was only a matter of time before they started becoming more and more difficult to survive. How long before one of the more anxious or older captives had a heart attack in the middle of an experiment? How long before someone had an stress-induced asthma or panic attack? How long before someone went into shock or ended up bleeding out before someone else could find them and help? It wasn't like Andy couldn't have bled out on that first experiment, he just had happened to be with a doctor at the time. Lucky for him, Martha had been calm and collected. He was sorry, when he thought about it, that he had never really been able to repay the favor to her.

Selene broke in after a long pause to tell him there was no shame in not watching. Yes, he thought, there was. There was more shame than he could probably ever really put into words. He should be watching, because he should be studying the room they were in; trying to see if anything looked familiar or if there were any clues as to where the women were and how he could help find them. He should be watching, because he still felt he deserved to be punished for killing Webber, failing Tracy, Luna, and Martha. But, no matter how much he felt he should be watching, Andy could not make himself look back at the monitor as he felt a cold chill shudder suddenly down his spine just thinking about it.

It took a moment before Andy noticed that Selene wasn't watching either; instead, she was rummaging around the gas station in search of something. Apparently, for something in particular. "What're you lookin' for?" he finally asked, after willing himself to watch her for a moment rather than staring ashamedly down at his own feet or out the grimy window.
