Each character will awaken in a room with another character and will be missing their journals. Each will have their own very comfortable twin bed. The Room is comfortably accommodated and should the subject look into the closets of bureau they will find clothing appropriate to their sense of style and size. Each room has it's own bathroom complete with toilet, tub and shower. Each bathroom is stocked with products the character would be familiar with.

The doors to the five bedrooms all open into a large common area which includes a television (no cable; just a large collection of assorted movies and an X-Box with an assortment of games); a bookcase with various titles and genres; a large sectional sofa; a dining table; and a large kitchen. The Kitchen will have an induction cooktop stove; a large refrigerator; various appliances and copious amounts of fresh foods. The style of this room is contemporary but comfortable. The floors are carpeted and everything is modern.

Clearly, this room is intended to make the subjects comfortable. Conspicuously absent: Windows.

There is an area which is clearly a door; however, it has no handle from the inside. Over this door is a large blue sign "Departure Point." A sign on the door indicates the following.

"Thank you for your participation here at Vas Captio. This area is intended for your use and comfort. Please be mindful to be clean and courteous as this room will be occupied shortly after you leave. Further instructions as to your departure will be included as they become more final. Thank you for your patience."

Sarah Jane was also lured out to the kitchen by the smell of food cooking. From the moment the aroma of bacon had hit her nostrils, she was reminded painfully of how hungry she'd been. Granola bars and other snacks from the petrol station weren't filling enough, and her mouth watered at the thought of a proper breakfast.

"Morning all," she said upon seeing the small crowd gathered in the kitchen. "Anyone started the tea yet?" She grinned at Ianto, who was the only person she counted herself as knowing in the room, as she slid past him toward the plates of food. She wasn't sure what everything was, but given that people were eating it, it had to be safe, right? She pulled out a plate and scooped some of the omelet onto it, then helped herself to a little of the caramelized bacon. She'd never had that before, but bacon was bacon.

As she was sliding out to make room for others to take a bit of food, she noticed Merope eating her chicken. "You're Walter's friend, aren't you?" she asked politely, remembering the girl from the cot in the gym days earlier. "How are you feeling?"

"Vege'ian?" Sorry, that didn't come out right, and it wouldn't. Not ever. It wasn't a word in his vocabulary. Not really. The Cajun liked meat. But he was smiling over at Ianto, anyway. "'Das okay, homme. You can have 'de sausage pancakes wit' 'de sausage gravy." Yeah, he really had just said that. Like sausage didn't count as meat. "C'est stupéfiant." He assured him with a wink, before the older woman came wandering in, and Remy was shifting his body away from Church to stand closer to the stove.

When she took some of the omelet and the bacon, Remy paused his cooking and turned to watch her. He wanted to see her eat it, and the look of expectancy was clear on his face. The chef wanted to see you taste the food, Sarah Jane. Go on!

When Gambit shifted back like that, Leonard looked down past the front of that light blue tee shirt, past the white lettering spelling out ‘Blue Army” across the front, and settled his eyes down on Remy’s lower back and his rear end as he pressed it snug up against him like that. Now, even if Church had his memory back, he wouldn’t remember ever touching another man, or even thinking about it, but certain situations brought different reactions out of different people, right? And Church was an equal-opportunist. So he rolled his hips forward with a smirk, fingers curling into the stove top as he turned his face to speak nearer to the Cajun’s ear… it would be hard to tell if he was being serious, or just playing along with the game, but Remy was about to learn that French wasn’t the only language the Spartan could speak. Church was about to learn that, too.

“IO testamento gusto tutto di tuo Gumbo se è mezzo come buono come il riposo di tuo carne, Monsieur.” That was lulled out in Italian that came to him easily and came off of his lips with the touch of a perfect accent… he’d even thrown in a little French on the end, to amuse his new friend. Because they were definitely now friends. Even if Gambit wasn’t capable of speaking Italian, the languages were so similar in their Romantic Latin roots that he would be able to understand the gist of the message… especially the bit at the end, which he had emphasized.

When the other man, the one making coffee, finally spoke up Church turned his head to the side and when Remy pulled his hips forward he stepped away from the mutant, glancing at the two new additions to the kitchen, offering a little wink to Sarah Jane as she piled that food on – she was in for a wild ride. “Good chow, Braque.” An easy slang word tossed out, calling the Cajun a ‘prick’ as if he’d known him all his life, before Church was moving to pick up his plate again and he headed right out of the now crowded kitchen, moving towards the common room, where he’d seen the large television.

[Translation: “I will taste all of your Gumbo if it is half as good as the rest of your meat, Monsieur”]

...Oh God. Sarah Jane was eating the omelet. Ianto put on a kettle of water for tea, since she had asked for some, and his eyes widened when he turned back and saw her serving herself up some breakfast. Someone needed to warn her.

"Um. Good morning, Sarah Jane. Um. Those eggs might be a touch spicy, if you catch my drift. Remy is a cajun cook." The fact that the omelet was amphibian..? Well. He didn't know that part, thank god. Just that the spices Remy used had cleared out his sinuses entirely. Which wasn't a bad thing. Just weird.

Merope felt her breath get caught in her chest the moment Remy waved at her. A pinkness rose to her cheeks and she lightly nodded towards him and stayed where he was near as for some reason he seemed like the strongest person in the room and she was quite small. She was looking for any familiar face and she tilted her head when the name "Walter" came to light when a woman mentioned that they were friends.

"..W-Walter? Oh-Er, I'm okay..now. Rorschach saved my life." Rorschach had never told her his real name and she didn't catch on.

Try to think about it, she messed with the omelet and noticed the scent. She didn't know it and the way they were talking about it the food sounded dangerous. Very lightly, she touched Remy's arm and leaned in,"..Is it poisonous?" She frowned,"Can I have non-poisonous one?" She asked, eating the decently warmed chicken as she remembered it being cold only a moment ago? Now it was warm?

Weird.

Gambit flashed a wide grin over his shoulder at the parting tall man, oh, he'd gotten your point, .. Church. That was what the back of his shirt said! But his attention was hauled back by the young woman, who seemed intent on the omelet and-- Poison? Had she just asked if it was poison? Really?

"Ain' poison, petite. Jus' somet'in' new. Cajun cookin'." Okay, was everyone ready for this? Really ready? He was about to let you all know exactly what was in that omelet.. so listen hard, Sarah Jane. Ianto was trying to save you from eating that, and you were going to find out why. "Go' some sausage in i'," Normal enough, right? Just you wait. "An' some spice, cayenne pepper, banana pepper, re' pepper, bell pepper.. an' some garlic," Oh, he wasn't done yet. Keep waiting for it. "Lil' bi' o' ham, an' some tomato f' colorin'. An' 'dem pieces?" He pointed with a finger towards some of the pinkish looking pieces that clearly were not ham. "Crayfish, 'dey so goo' f' you, petite. An' 'de mos' impor'an' toppin'? 'De frog leg. Skinne' an' cleane', bu' 'de still go' 'de bone. Jus' uh lil' crunch." Oh, and he looked so proud about it.

"G'wan. Try it."

It was okay, Merope.. the closest bathroom was just there, through that door. You could go throw up if you felt the need. You too, Sarah Jane.

Merope stared at Remy, she didn't want all that stuff as her stomach probably couldn't handle it. Moving her hand lightly, she tapped his arm again, but didn't know how to tell him that she didn't want to eat that. Merope usually ate everything she was given but she couldn't eat something that might make her sick.

She knew better than to ask for something else from him, she looked a little lost as she placed the plate back to allow anyone who wanted it to have it. "..C-Can I m-make something?" She asked as lightly as she could.

Sarah Jane had a forkful of omelet halfway to her mouth when Ianto mentioned it was probably a bit spicy. She shrugged. It couldn't be more spicy than curry take-away, she reasoned, popping the bite into her mouth. However, while it wasn't more spicy than the curry that Luke liked, it was at least as spicy, and her eyes widened just a bit as the flavors hit her tongue. She hadn't been expecting eggs to be quite so strong. She also bit down on something that was squishy in a way eggs generally weren't, and tasted vaguely of fish.

She managed to chew and swallow her bite without, she hoped, looking too surprised by it all. "Quite unique," she said, looking over to Remy. It wasn't bad, she decided, just very, very different than what she was used to. It vaguely reminded her of having a luncheon with the Doctor years back on some alien planet she'd forgotten the name of. She took another bite, now more prepared for the flavor, and noticed the bit of crayfish this time. That would explain the texture in the previous bite.

She smiled at Merope. "I'm glad," she said. "He was quite worried about you." She had misunderstood Merope's reaction of confusion as polite inquiry.

She took another forkful of omelet. "My son would find this fascinating," she said, looking back at Remy. "What's in it?"

Gambit couldn't help his laugh when the poor girl asked to make herself something, and he shook his head, that damp red hair flicking a little and clinging on to his neck or his jawline. Long hair, for a man. But that was just how he wore it. The ladies liked it. "Non, petite. I make you somet'in'." He promised with a smirk, before glancing aside at Sarah Jane. "All sor's o' stuff, Madame. Go' some sausage in i', an' some spice, cayenne pepper, banana pepper, re' pepper, bell pepper.. garlic. Lil' bi' o' ham, an' some tomato. Crayfish, an' frog leg. Skinne' an' cleane', bu' 'de still go' 'de bone. Jus' uh lil' crunch." He repeated for the older woman what he'd just told the younger girl standing to his other side, before he finally realized he didn't know either of their names.

"Mon nom est Remy LeBeau, satisfait de vous rencontrer." French. Sorry, ladies. He'd realize his mistake soon enough and.. "Remy LeBeau, 'das my name." There we go, he repeated himself in English. He had thought about using 'Gambit' as he had since coming here.. but it didn't have a point to it anymore. The people pulling the strings knew who he was, and thus there was no need to hide it from anyone else.

Sarah Jane listened to the ingredients carefully. She'd probably never make something quite so...eclectic...for Luke, but the boy would want to know about it, nonetheless. Each ingredient on its own didn't sound too daunting, but put all together in the one omelet, it made quite a list. "Always a surprise, then?" she said, grinning and taking another bite. This one was full of ham and peppers, which was more like an omelet she was used to.

"Sarah Jane Smith," she said, finagling her plate and fork into one hand so she could offer one to Remy. "We've spoken on the journals. It's a pleasure to meet you in person, Remy. And thank you for breakfast." She took to the bacon next, and had to close her eyes at how delicious it was. Whatever he'd done to it, it made the bacon the best she'd ever had. "It's quite good," she said after swallowing her mouthful.

"Sarah Jane," Ianto said, watching her devour the omelet with what looked like enjoyment, "I think you might be my new hero. Um. Tea's up, if anyone would like some?" Seriously. Ianto blinked several times and stuffed a piece of toast into his mouth (where had the toast come from?) and reached for mugs.

"Coffee or tea for anyone else? I brew both perfectly." It wasn't an exaggeration, either. The tea smelled wonderful as Ianto poured and the coffee damn near made him groan out loud. There was no helping an addict, really. Shuffling around people, he found spoons, the sugar bowl and a little pot of milk, which were set out by the mugs.

Hair still damp from his shower, L made his way down to the kitchen, conflicting scents assaulting his nostrils. Certain foods, he knew simply shouldn't go together, and it only took a glance around to hazard an educated guess at just who would be haphazard, careless, and tasteless enough to think that such a breakfast would taste good. He had lots of reasons to dislike Gambit already, of course, but this certainly didn't help the man's case in L's judgmental opinion.

He walked in just in time to hear Ianto offering coffee and tea. This immediately interested him. "Tea, please," he said in his quiet, formal baritone, glancing at the man with dark, furtive eyes. "That's kind. Thank you."

"Oui, pleasure t' mee' you too, Mrs. Smit'." The Mrs., of course, because she was older.. he assumed she had to be married. It was just one of those things, one of those ways Gambit had about him. "An' gla' you enjoyin'." Not many people could handle real Cajun cooking. All of those American Cajun knock offs? Silly people, that wasn't Cajun. Sausage pancakes with sausage gravy? Now that was real Cajun food.

And he was cracking open a few more eggs into the pan, and adding only cheese (which was boring, but something that Gambit could definitely do). And after working on it for a bit, he finally added a little bit of garlic, salt and paper, then a few onions, but stopped there. He wouldn't turn your omelet into some monstrosity, Merope, he promised.

Ianto was flashed a smile when he asked about the tea and the coffee. He was a nice guy, wasn't he? Quiet, yeah.. but smart. And though the Doctor didn't seem sure about the suited man in the kitchen, Gambit was pretty sure that he was a great sort of man. A person who'd be a good friend, and likely someone good to work with-- and the other guy? Who was that? Remy, of course, had never seen L before, and though L knew who he was right off (he was the only Cajun in this big glass box, and it made him very distinct), the red-head was still at a loss, so: "Bonjour." He welcomed him easily, and with a cool smile. "Breakfas'?" The omelet he was presently dishing out was big enough for five. Yeah, Remy was one of those. Always cooked way too much. It was a curse!

L turned to the cupboard, opening it and finding a box of sugar cubes almost too quickly. No one else seemed to have been poisoned, and so far, this morning had otherwise gone completely catch-free... so he scooped a handful out of the box and started to grind them between his teeth. Bonjour, enchante," L said, sighing deeply. He didn't feel like conversing or fighting with the man who seemed to take all of his best interests and make them his own. At being offered what the Cajun apparently thought was breakfast, L furrowed his brow. "No thanks. I'm fine. Morning is for tea and light pastries, not..." he stopped dead, trying to figure out what exactly Remy had cooked. "... this."

Sarah Jane quirked an eyebrow at Ianto for his remark, but grinned when he said the tea was ready. "I could murder a proper cup of tea," she said gratefully, shifting through the crowd towards him. "You're a life-saver, Ianto."

She turned back to Remy as he spoke. "Miss Smith, actually," she said, flashing him a smile. She ate another few bites of omelet while waiting for her tea. Then, she turned to her bunk-mate, L, who'd decided to make an appearance.

"It's actually quite good, you know," she said, indicating her eggs and bacon. As she spoke, she noticed a box of something tucked away near the kettle. Through the clear film on the lid, she could see the tops of sticky buns and danishes. "But it looks like there might be some pastries over there, if you really fancy them." She nodded toward the box, then ate a bit more of the gorgeous bacon.

A cup and saucer were offered to L while Ianto nibbled on toast and jam and sipped at a cup of coffee. Very good coffee, too, he reckoned. It made him wonder why, exactly, they were being treated so well.

It made him worry that the others, those left behind, were being hurt somehow.

"Ianto Jones," Ianto offered as he passed the cup to L. Just because he hadn't met this young man before. Who ... enjoyed sugar cubes for breakfast. Hm.. Very odd dining habits around here. He also scoot out of the way so that Sarah Jane could get to the sugar bowl and the milk for her tea. "Remy? Coffee? Tea?"

"Yeah, wha' she sai'." Gambit reminded L. But with the French? Oh, the red-eyed mutant knew exactly who you were now, L, and the smile on his face changed a little. Careful not to eat whatever he gave you, eh, detective? He was sure he could imagine up some rat poison in this place, and managed to slip it into your food. Don't tempt him.

"Eggs up." He announced for Merope, as he settled the pan on the back burner and turned the stove off, dishing himself out a bit of the more ah.. spicy egg, while leaving the plain one for people who couldn't stomach that sort of thing. Just wait for dinner, people. Then you'd be a little more concerned for your health. Some pancakes and sausage joined it, bacon dropped on top. And a few of his crab cakes.

When prompted about coffee or tea, Remy smiled brilliantly. "Coffee." He held up his hand, to indicate about two inches. "Cream." He spread his fingers to indicate three inches. "Sugar." His fingers went down to about one inch. Yes, he'd love a cup, Ianto. But he was going to slaughter it, just as he slaughtered the English language.

Merope liked that, when people did things for her when she didn't ask as she knew they were likely paying attention. Gambit called for her and she came and grabbed food that would be a little easier on her stomach and moved towards the side of the fridge while she picked at it with a fork. As she started eating, she raised her eyes and noticed L from the back.

Using her brain first, she put the plate down to the side and spent no time clinging onto L like he was a saviour. Her hands rested on his sides, using him to hide as it were.

"L..L..L."

L glanced up a little too sharply, looking alarmed at Sarah Jane's use of the word "murder," but he calmed quickly when the woman's calm smile and cheerful, relaxed countenance made the true meaning clear. Though he was sure that the eggs and bacon were very good, he politely declined. He didn't eat meat, the preference having more to do with an aversion to the taste and texture rather than to its origins. The bacon didn't look like murder to his relatively objective mind, but it certainly wasn't appetizing. Instead, he reached for the danishes and sticky buns, wondering what hadn't been provided for them in this place. Next, he'd be finding a set of Dostoevsky books and a chess board.

He accepted the tea from Ianto, promptly dumping at least thirty sugar cubes into the cup. It was so strange, to meet people he'd communicated with face to face and have no reason to hide his identity. He was still getting used to that aspect of living in the glass-walled enclosure.

L took a moment to sneak a glance at the Cajun, who was staring at him for just a little too long, but was distracted by Merope suddenly clinging to him and saying his name over and over again. He sighed slightly, realizing that there was no longer any doubt as to his identity, but feeling somewhat touched that Merope seemed so glad to see him. They were friends, after all. "Merope... are you all right?"

She wanted a familiar face, familiar something and none of it had been with exception of the lanky, black-haired boy. She was latched onto him and she didn't want to let him go as she moved so she was in front of him and clung onto him,"...Please don't go." Merope refused to release him at this point, but it was acceptable that she displayed this behaviour as if she owned L at the moment.

Had this been Luna, Rorschach or any familiar face? It would have been the same, not that she was severely attached. She just needed someone and L was the only person.

Gambit popped a bit of his left over frog leg into his mouth and chomped down, crunching the tiny bones as he watched Merope and L. How many girls was that guy sleeping with? The thought made Gambit smirk. It was always the fags that the women flocked to. And after a quick clean-up of the kitchen, the Cajun was putting the pots and pans, and plates in the sink. He'd clean them later. Right now? That television and the tall man on the sofa out there were calling his name. Maybe they could find some sex on some of those movies....

The Cajun happily removed himself from the kitchen second later, with a wink to Sarah Jane and Ianto.

Just a hint of milk, and Sarah Jane had her tea just the way she liked it. Ianto was very good at brewing up a pot of tea, and for that, she was very grateful. She hadn't had tea quite so perfect in ages. She watched Merope cling to L as she sipped from her cup, noticing how skittish the girl seemed. No wonder Walter had been so worried about her before. She frowned. He was probably worried for her right now, since he wouldn't be able to find her. Everyone would worry when the lot of them didn't show up around town and didn't write anything. She only hoped they wouldn't worry too much.

Finishing the last of her breakfast and tea, Sarah Jane noticed Remy leave the pile of dishes and pots and pans in the sink. Well, he'd cooked, and Ianto had done the tea, so she might as well help out with the cleaning, she decided. She stepped across the not-quite-as-crowded kitchen and turned on the hot water tap, making sure the drain was plugged up properly first. "Anyone up for drying?" she asked, turning to the few who were left in the kitchen as she added a bit of soap to the rapidly filling sink.
