Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!complete, day 16, location: carnival, rose tyler, the doctor (ten)

Who: John 'The Tenth Doctor' Smith and Rose 'Not As Oblivious As I Look' Tyler
What: Probably? Keeping Rose out of trouble...
Where: The Carnival
When: Day 16, afternoonish
Rating: PG
Status: Complete!

It was rather irritating being told what to do. But honestly? Rose was used to it. The Doctor had a knack for telling her where to be and when to be there, and she was pretty good at following directions. Mostly because, with him, if she didn't it was life or death. So when Dr. John Smith told her to get to the gas station to seek out food, she listened. Also sort of life and death. Starving and all.

But Rose was also known for her exploratory nature getting the better of her. She was good at it, frankly. It usually got her into trouble before it got her out of it, but she often got answers because of it, too. And it was only her first real day in this strange new city. The day before had been spent with Dr. Smartass and then finding Remy and the Doctor and being introduced around. She never had claimed her grand tour with Remy, but she was honestly just as happy to do it herself.

And honestly, who wasn't attracted to a giant ferris wheel in the middle of nowhere?

Though the map said to go to the left, Rose followed the trail to the right, arriving in front of what was apparently a long abandoned carnival. But even if nothing worked, what girl wasn't drawn to the carousel and the ferris wheel and...oh god, was that a tunnel of love? Rose couldn't help giggling. Even if there was something seriously messed up about this place, it pulled her in just the same.

Gas station? What gas station?

The Doctor had just dropped Remus off at the Clinic, sure that the doctors there at the very least would be able to change his bandages. While he could understand not much appreciating hospitals, in this case, executive privilege took over and Remus would just have to put up with the unpleasantness. Besides, it's not like the gym was much of a proper clinic anyway.

Kicking his feet as he took the long way back (out into the forest, AROUND the museum and back down again to the carnival's entry) the Time Lord had a lot of time with his thoughts. He had spent the majority of that time scribbling in his journal with Rose (Playing with fire, Time Lord) and the rest he spent trying to think of how he could make things up to Remy without encouraging backward progress. That was one tangled web.

So, there he was, passing through the gates with the big blue Police Public Call Box sign under his arm. He was planning on hanging it up in his bumper car rink, back under the porch where you'd have to be in the car he'd slept in to see it. It ought to be safe there. Kicking feet abruptly halted, however.

Walking along, marvelling at the dilapidated rides and games was one very familiar looking blonde-topped girl. The Doctor sighed. Fantastic, just fantastic. He stood there, watching her as she looked around. He knew that movement, he knew precisely what the look on her face was, too. The tinkling sound of her giggling was like music and it broke his hearts. It was his Rose. In that moment he'd found her. It was her. Still, a big, sad smile swept up his features if only for a moment. It was like seeing a ghost.

Shoving everything down with a hard swallow and a shake of his head the Doctor called forward, "Thought you were just going to go to the gas station."

Specs on to hide behind. Big brown coat and blue suit combined to put multiple layers between he and her despite the heat. Even his hair had cooperated being extra spiky. "And I thought you said you'd find someone so you wouldn't be alone."

Rose jumped about a mile in the air at the sound of a voice behind her. Then a bright blush crept over her cheeks as she realised she'd been found. By the one person who'd told her to be careful no less.

Oops.

Turning around slowly, she shot a sheepish smile at the stranger who she'd taken to so easily. It really was a bit odd that she found him so easy to talk to. And that he talked right back. At least, in writing. It definitely helped ease the annoyance she'd felt when he'd all but run her off the day before in the barn. Maybe it wasn't her, maybe it was the Doctor. Or maybe he simply didn't want his space being invaded by a newcomer. She'd decided mid-journal exchange to give the tall, dark-haired man the benefit of the doubt and she lowered her eyes a little bashfully.

"Well, there wasn't really anyone around at the time," she defended quickly. "Besides, it's not as if I ran off on purpose. The gas station is right over there, after all." She nodded her head in the direction she'd originally been headed. Flashing him a grin, she shrugged. "But come on, you can't tell me you wouldn't be distracted by a giant carnival. Even in non-teasing Smith land they'd have to be at least somewhat interested."

And then she noticed something in his hands. Something vaguely familiar and she squinted to try and get a closer look. "What's that you've got? Your present from Non-Father Christmas?"

She jumped. Hopping for her life. Memories.

She turned around with a sheepish smile, kid with her hand in the cookie jar. He knew that smile. He was certain the last time he saw it was the day of the olympics. Or, maybe it was after the event with that Satan Pit. Whatever it was, he knew it, and he'd missed it. He didn't know just how much until right now.

Despite his affinity for one Rose Tyler, Doctor John Smith didn't make any motion to move any closer to her, keeping the space well defined. Such a lion tamer.

"Of course I'd be distracted by a giant ferris wheel," he said with a surpressed grin. "Doesn't mean you shouldn't have snagged one of those museum people to come walk with you... It's not safe."

He watched her, realizing that she'd caught sight of his sign. "Oh, just a sign from home. My mates and I nicked it off an old call box down the street," He held up the famliiar sign. "Must be about twenty years old... Wonder why they'd send me this?"

Rose's breath caught as he held up the sign. Clearly having no idea of its significance, he brandished it like it was nothing. He and his mates nicked it? What was he, thirteen? "Maybe it made it to the wrong person," she said quietly, and though he hadn't bothered to move any closer to her, her curiousity won out and she stepped closer to him to look the sign over. What were the odds? The small phone, so smashed by her side that morning. The Doctor having his own blue shards. And now this?

Should she speak up? Say what it actually was? Maybe it was completely unrelated but please, what were the odds? "It's off one of those police boxes. The ones around in, what, the fifties? Sixties?" She could play stupid. Rose had been doing it long enough, mostly whenever her mum mentioned she should leave Jimmy. Of course, she was pretty sure Jackie Tyler hadn't meant by going off with a nine hundred year-old man, but there you had it.

Rocking back on her heels, she tried to smile despite the anxious jolt she'd gotten at first sight of the sign. "'Those' museum people, as you call them, were all tied up in their own things. Stop worrying, I stayed on the main road and there was a--always someone in sight." So what if she'd been about to say almost always? He didn't need to know. Besides, it was broad daylight. Surely people didn't get snatched up from--

Well. Okay, it'd been broad daylight when she'd left the flat in London and wound up here. Oops again. A shudder ran down her spine, but her smile stayed firmly in place.

Sure, he knew what her reaction would probably be. Still, it took a bit of restraint not to react to her. He was just John Smith. He wasn't her Doctor. No, he was just some bloke from somewhere else. "The wrong person?" He said incredulously. "This is mine." He said pulling it back and putting it right under his arm where it belonged just after she stepped closer, shoving his hands into his pockets.

"Right," he said sharply, taking a step backward, maintaining his space. Of course it was from one of those, Rose. Right.

"Well, they might have their own things; but, that doesn't mean one of them couldn't take a little time to go for a walk with you." The one in particular he was thinking of was the Doctor. Then came Jack. Sarah Jane certainly would have agreed had she asked."

When she'd told him to stop worrying he shot her a look. Of course he'd worry. "We should get you back to your Doctor, yes?"

Rose's eyebrows lifted sharply. Who was this guy kidding? He wasn't her care giver and she wasn't a small child. "Oh, really?" she retorted, crossing her arms in front of her and taking a large step back. With narrowed eyes she fixed a glare on him.

"I said I said I appreciated your concern, and I do," she told him, her voice cold. "But I'm also a grown woman. I don't need the Doctor baby-sitting me any more than I need you doing so." In fairness, running into Remus had put a lot of things into perspective for Rose. She wasn't the youngest, nor was she alone. She'd gotten out of enough scrapes on her own without the Doctor, Jack, or this complete stranger giving her grief.

For a moment she bit her lip. Perhaps she was being mean and a little unreasonable. He really was only trying to help. But she hated being undermined, and she especially hated him, someone who barely knew her, acting as if she couldn't function without the Doctor. So she tossed her hair over her shoulder, turned on her heel, and began walking off in the other direction.

Wait? What?! What? Wait! She was really glaring at him, wasn't she? A perplexed look crossed over his features. Alright, the perplexed look crossed over his features. "What?" He asked, articulating the look. "I--" He started and stopped as she looked like she might have something more to say.

Instead of saying anything she just turned on a heel and walked away. Oh, that just was like a punch to the gut. She's walking away.

"Rose, wait, just a second, alright?" He said, long legs carrying him up beside her, his free hand coming from his pocket and up to touch her shoulder. "Just hold on a moment, alright?"

Whether she stopped or not he'd keep on talking. He was good at talking. "It's not that I think you need to be babysat..." Well, what was it then, Time Lord? "It's that, well, ehrm," Doctor for a loss of words? "It's the only safety any of us has."

He did know her. He knew just how brilliant she was. He knew just how vulnerable she was. He knew. And when she was making faces like that? Those thoughtful moments where it was quite obvious to him that more than just what she was saying was going on below the surface? Well, the Doctor was quite sure that he'd missed that moment the most.

He smiled as she said she usually won. He knew it was slightly false, but he'd let her keep it up. He had to keep up his ruse after all.

"Come with you?" The Doctor looked up and around, trying to find something to focus on that wasn't her. On one hand he'd said he didn't want her to be alone. On the other hand was the part of him that didn't want her to be alone with him. "I'd think you'd be keen on getting about as far away from the non-teasing Doctor Smith as possible."

Was he trying to get rid of her? God, why did it have to be so hard to tell with him? For all of his words, he was actually quite good at teasing. And she was pretty sure he knew it.

She tilted her head, studying him. "I don't know about that," she mused, as much to herself as to the tall man beside her. "Seems to me he could use the teasing lessons. I mean, if you're busy, that's totally okay." As it was she felt like she'd monopolised Remy the entire day before. She didn't need to up and stake claim on John as well. And yet, he seemed kind behind those big brown eyes. And mysterious. And Rose Tyler always wanted to get behind the mysterious. "Just an idea I had."

Was he? Even the Doctor wasn't sure.

"Oh, no, not busy," he interjected. He wasn't busy. Not right then. Not at that exact moment. He could be, though. He really could be. He probably should be. He knew he really ought to be.

"I'd say it's a good idea," he smiled to his old friend, even if she didn't know that's what she was. He extended the crook of his elbow to her. "Come on, lets get you some supplies."

He could hear Nine already, accusing him of skirting her off someplace. That prior incarnation of his could have a very sharp tone when he wanted to.

Her eyes widened at the offer of his arm. That hadn't been what she was expecting. If girls were giving an award for mixed signals, the handsome bloke with the spiky hair would win. Oh, he'd drive Shareen crazy, Rose knew. If he didn't drive Rose mad first.

Still, it was a sweet offer. Gentlemanly. Who said chivalry was dead. Turning on the charm, Rose accepted and slipped her arm through his. "You seem to know your way around here," she informed him, letting him lead her wherever he so chose. "How long have you been here?"

She had a vague idea. After all, Remy wasn't exactly quiet when it came to most information. And she appreciated that, really. It was rare that people were so honest and upfront when she arrived in a strange new place. But it was always nicer to hear it from the source.

That, and in that land of varying accents, it was sort of nice hearing a nearly posh London sound. He had a nice voice, especially when he wasn't berating her with it.

It was hard for the Doctor not to give mixed signals. In all honesty he had to give them for the sake of his own sanity. He couldn't run around pretending to hate her; that would just be impossible and contrived. On the other hand, he couldn't let her know just how much he fancied her, either. So, back and forth the pendulum would swing; well, at least until she'd make it stop.

She threaded her arm in his and it felt very nearly like old times: Rose in a pink dress hopping off that moped. If he could figure out a way to grab her hand without being completely obvious he'd do that, too. It was hard knowing what he knew and not capitalizing on just this smallest of opportunties to spend time with her. Even if that time was fleeting. Especially when he knew it couldn't and wouldn't last forever.

"Two and a half weeks," He said, looking off ahead of them as they rounded a bend and were back out onto the main thoroughfare, the gas station quite in sight.

"So, how long've you been travelling with that Doctor of yours?"

He was comfortable, she had to give him that. It'd be so easy to just lean on his shoulder and laugh the way she did with the Doctor. But that would also be terrible awkward, wouldn't it? This man didn't give off the flirtatious vibe that Remy did, and no one could compete in that area with Jack.

So instead, she just smiled up at him, shaking her hair out of her eyes while she contemplated an answer. "A year or so, I guess," she considered, tilting her head thoughtfully. "It's sort of hard to judge with him. Time...passes differently when you're never in one place."

Why was she talking so much? He didn't need to know. He'd only asked how long. But Rose didn't shut up. He was quiet, maybe she thought she needed to fill in the gaps. "He saved my life, actually. S'how we met. Dunno what I would've done if he hadn't come along."

The gas station was in full view, now, and looked...well, like a gas station. Rose didn't know what she was expecting, but since nothing seemed to be as it was here, she'd thought maybe it'd look like anything but. It reminded her of the second Grease movie, actually.

Oh. Right. That would make sense considering the seventies clothes in the thrift shop.

She'd caught him. He could tell by the look on her face that she'd seen his expression and on some level she must have interpretted it, right? She must have seen right through him. The Doctor swallowed. Hard.

It didn't h elp that she'd turned all quiet. It only made the Doctor want to start rambling. So, ramble he did. "I think I heard somewhere you've already been to the thrift store, so no need to stop there. Though, I did find the most curious set of candy dishes. What do you think anybody'd want with those here? I could at least make something out of the broken radios if I needed to, though the wiring is sort of shoddy.." He trailed off, realizing he'd spoken nearly over her.

"Oh, i just think it's a bit strange calling him 'the Doctor.' Afterall, I'm a Doctor, too," John Smith covered. Actually, he was the Doctor, too. Sort of like if Rose met someone else named Rose, it'd be sort of odd calling them that, wouldn't it? "Not technically yours?" He quirked a brow. Oh, he was your Doctor, Rose Tyler, and you'd never know. Well, he wasn't quite yet. Oh, wibble wobble timey whimey, big ball of stuff that goes beep.

The Time Lord looked at the ground. Oh, look a rock. His hands were in his pockets as they walked, he kept meaning to put things in there so he could have soemthing to play around with. Maybe he could put a few pencils together and fashion something that felt like his sonic. It would make him feel a bit more comfortable, he thought.

Was he rambling? Really? He seemed so refined and distinguished. Like a university professor, in all fairness. So why did he seem so...lost. Rose supposed they all felt a bit lost there. Out of their elements. Even the Doctor, so used to all things strange and paranormal, seemed disconcerted in this odd place.

While she considered the bit he'd added about having to call another doctor 'Doctor', she focused on the candy dishes. "Just because I've already been doesn't mean I wouldn't go again," she thought out loud. "I like it in there. Bit dusty, terribly damp, but it's fun. Out of the way, you know?" Maybe he didn't know. Maybe he hadn't felt the need to escape into something that at least felt somewhat familiar.

Candy dishes? Why in God's name had he picked out candy dishes of everything in there? Rose was pretty certain until the moment they got out of this place that Dr. John Smith, man of science, short-strawed doctor of the Smithton Smiths, would remain an enigma. Shame, that. He was fit, and awfully cute when he smiled.

"In a hospital, all the doctors are going around calling each other doctor and it doesn't seem to bother them," she pointed out, changing her focus. "And there were like, five Matts in my class in school and they didn't come up with titles or names for each other or anything. They were just Matt G, Matt C, and on and on." There. Complete subject change. But not so complete he wouldn't have further reason to point out why he was so insistent to make the Doctor her own.

Of course he was rambling. You haven't even experienced the full force of it yet, Rose. Wait until a little later, when you're out of here and he's going on about Barcelona and hopping for your lives - then you'll see just how much this man can ramble. Though, she was quite on with the idea he was lost - because that was a bit how he felt. He was lost around this girl whom he knew so well, yet wasn't supposed to know at all. It was enough to throw the good Doctor right off his balance.

The Doctor was escaping into something familiar, Rose and that something was you. So, when you put it that way, he understood completely. Totally and unequivocably. "Well, we can stop there, if you'd like..." He looked up, a smile clinging at the edges of his features. They could, really. The could go there. He knew he shouldn't have asked. It was a bad decision; but, again it wasn't like he could just take her back, push her into the Museum and lock the door. At least when she was with him she was safe.

"Of coure they are, it's a title and not their names. 'Til he showed up here I was the Doctor. It's what I am at home. They just call me Doctor. Just one of me, afterall. It's like my name," it was his name. "Not like we both can be the Doctor, can we? And since I'm not your Doctor, might as well make him yours, yes?" Careful with the rambling, John.

Rose's head tilted thoughtfully. It might have made sense to him, but the girl was completely and utterly confused. What the hell was he on about? "They just call you Doctor?" she pondered, almost as much to herself as to him. There were so many pieces of the puzzle that was John Smith that were wide and gaping. Much like the pieces of her own life. Ordinarily, her life was so simple. Get in TARDIS, be delivered at destination, inevitably almost get killed, get out of danger, hug the Doctor in celebration of actually surviving, get back in the TARDIS, repeat until time to head home for a fresh lot of clothes. Here, nothing seemed that simple. Everything seemed new and strange and confusing. Mostly confusing.

"We don't have to," she said quietly, avoiding his eyes. "The thrift store, I mean. Already been once today. Only so many times one person can look at bell bottoms and platform shoes."

Hesitantly, she glanced up at him. "Suppose you're right. About him, I guess. Still not really mine. Trust me, he was the Doctor long before he met me." Hundreds of years, as best as she could tell. "Neither of you has to be. Doesn't really make a lot of sense." Neither was she, as best she could tell. Making any sense that was. Somehow, this tall, rail thin bloke had that ability to him. To make her babble nonsensically. Not in writing; in writing, they could go on and on and she could figure out what she wanted to say and tease him until he was teasing right back. But here? In person? It was odd.

As her head tilted and a look of confusion passed over her features the Doctor worried for a oment that he'd said too much. "Most of them, just call me Doctor. Or Doc. Never much cared for Doc, actually." Sorry, Rose, it was all on purpose. Well, most of it, because he hadn't meant to blurt some of the things he'd said. Most of all he didn't really mean to leave you little bits and clues, he just thought he was being clever. Well, that and he couldn't just out and out lie to you. Where was a chameleon arch when you needed one?

"Oh, well, then the museum, yes?" he was already shifting their course. She didn't want to go? Well, that was fine. Probably for the best, actually. The less time they spent the less clues he left the less she could really work to figure out who he really was. Keep up the good work, Mr. Smith.

When she said neither of them had to be the Doctor looked at his shoes. He'd been your Doctor once, Rose Tyler. He'd be your Doctor now if he could. That same silly bloke who went running 'round in circles showing you the time of your life and saving you from threats you could hardly imagine. Sorry, Rose, sooner or later one of them would have to be your Doctor, just the way it worked. Unfortunately, Ten was pretty sure it couldn't be him. Not yet, anyway.

Leave bits and pieces he had. Dozens of them, though Rose didn't quite know it just then. Things were beginning to come together in her mind, but she couldn't quite grasp it. And she never would have picked up the almost-obvious from the tiny fragments Dr. John Smith had scattered all around her.

"Not an awful lot else to do here, is there?" she reminded him, a slightly playful look on her face. "Besides, someone needs to get there in time to stop the Doctor from trying to put together a sonic...I don't know, picture frame. Silly nut."

But she loved that silly nut. She loved him for a lot of the same reasons she already trusted the man at her side so much. There was a childlike appeal to him, despite the advanced age. He was protective of her, taking care of her without her ever having to ask. They butted heads, but at the end of the day, she knew he still cared. The worst fight they'd ever had still had him coming back to her. He was wonderful, and it explained the instant pull to the coat-wearing man beside her. Any similarities to the man who'd shown her the galaxy pretty much guaranteed him a spot in her heart.

Brilliant and you don't even know it, Rose Tyler. Full of life and a mind that simply turned John Smith's on end. He adored you and he couldn't help it. And that was why John Smith looked at his trainers like they were so much more interesting than your smile. For now anyway.

He looked up with a grin that was peppered somewhere between Cheshire and boyish. She'd just called him Doctor, he'd heard it and his hearts leaped. So what if she'd tagged that Smith rubbish on the end, it had still been her calling him Doctor, just like it was the pair of them. Didn't matter she was teasing him, it was like she'd seen him for a moment. It was then he realized he wanted Rose to see, to know, and that wasn't safe now was it?

"Well, you know, I couldn't go and give away all our secrets," smirk. "Now, I'm guessing your a bit less Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty and a bit more Maid Marion. You dont' need Robin Hood coming along and saving you all the time. You probably saved Robin his own fair share, haven't you?" You did, Rose; or, well, you will.

He couldn't help it, he pulled up a seat on those steps and had hiked up his pant leg a bit, busying himself with fixing the laces of his chucks. One of these days he'd invent laces that didn't shift so much through the grommets. Either way, he had a reason to need to sit down, right? Right.

"If you're going to pull out fairy tale princesses, I'm much more The Little Mermaid. She made her own destiny, even if she sort of screwed it up along the way." And, if she remembered the movie correctly, she had made an effort to save the prince.

But she really did like his Maid Marion comparison, too. She gave him a somewhat shy grin and nodded. "It's my middle name. And I mean that literally. Not like 'hey, danger is my middle name', but the real thing. Marion, that is." He was sitting. And sticking around. And she liked it. Oh, did she like it. Maybe she just desperately wanted company and didn't want to be left alone in that huge museum. Whatever the reason, she adored having him around, listening like what she said might actually be important.

"I like to think Marion was her own sort of woman," she continued. "Dating an outlaw and all that without caring who thought what about her." And she couldn't help herself. As he fixed the laces on one shoe, she reached over and pulled loose the lace of another. Let's see just how easy Dr. John Smith was to tease then.

"Besides," she added, avoiding his eyes as she looked away with an impish smile, "Robin shouldn't have gotten into trouble all the time. Then Marion wouldn't have had to have run off to save him." She'd bet Robin was terribly handsome.

"Little mermaid? Living under the sea? You sing, too?" Then again, was singing always part of the equation? John Smith couldn't recall, he did have a feeling his memory of that particular fairy tale might be marred a little by Disney.

"Rose Marion Tyler?" The Doctor grinned. He'd just learned something new. Hadn't known that bit before now; and it was incredible. What else did Rose have stored up in that mind of hers? For as much as he knew there was just so very much he didn't. That was what made it so hard to leave her alone, because he could make up for lost time.

He hadn't seen her hand slip down to his laces and tug, but as soon as he felt it John's face lit up into a bright grin. "Really?" He asked, leaning to the side to nudge her with his elbow.

"You've got that bit right, Rose Marion Tyler. Though, half the fun is in the trouble dodging."

Oh, Doctor. Even this Rose would tell this man, this Dr. John Smith, anything he wanted to know. Maybe it was pathetic, but she couldn't stop herself from talking around him. That was typically a fault of hers, and he was no exception. Good-looking, talkative blokes made her talk right back.

And this one? Fit both. Quite well.

"I do, actually," she replied smugly. "Well, I used to. Sort of. In school choir. Till I staged a protest and got them all to walk out one day. Wasn't welcomed back after that." Her smile was mischievous at the memory, but she flushed prettily at his gentle nudge. "Since then it's pretty much just singing along in my...friend's car. And the occasional karaoke night." Friend. Ha. She was doing it again. Having trouble calling Mickey 'boyfriend' in the presence of others. She really ought to come to a decision about that sooner or later, shouldn't she?

Her smile turned into a smirk as she looked sideways at him, her hair falling over her shoulder as she studied him. "Dodging trouble only works if you succeed in the dodging," she reminded him. "Robin brought it on himself half the time. No wonder the poor girl had to move in and save the day half the time."

She would, wouldn't she? Tell anything. He liked to just listen to her talk. Lost time and all that. He'd keep quiet and listen because who knew if he'd ever get this opportunity again. Gave you a whole new perspective when you had something you'd lost handed right back to you. Even if it wasn't quite as you remembered, it still had that feeling to it, that familiarity.

"You rebel you," he teased watching her when he'd finished fixing those laces, even the one she'd mussed up. "Well, cars are a nice place for singing. Like the shower, perfect acoustics for it."

"Oh, who doesn't enjoy the dodging?" He prompted. "Haven't failed in dodging yet," he waggled his brow, propping his elbows on his knees and folding his hands, looking at the Ferris wheel not too far off from them now. "You don't seem to like Robin much."

If the Doctor had paid much attention, he'd know exactly what Rose was about to say because he'd have heard. In fact, she'd kill right then for that hot, steaming shower and some of her favourite jasmine soap. Only a couple of days and she was already feeling grimy. What would a week of this place do to her?

"So happens, I sing there, too," she mentioned casually, though her smile was unashamedly flirtatious this time. Oh, she shamed even herself sometimes. Maybe the Doctor was right and she really should stop picking up blokes everywhere she went. But this one was hardly her fault, he'd just started talking and could she make him go away? Of course not! It'd be rude.

And, admittedly, she'd be much more bored.

Rose leaned back on her elbows so she was practically stretched out along several steps. It felt pretty good on a back not used to sleeping on the ground, and she liked the view. Wait, that sounded pervy. Well...maybe just a bit. But the museum looked more interesting from that angle as well. "I don't have a problem with Robin, really. Steal from the rich, give to the poor, what's not to like? Except...well, I always sort of wondered, what happens if those poor get caught with the things he stole and gave to them? Wouldn't they go to jail or lose a hand or what have you? Isn't that his fault, indirectly?"
