Day 2: Mid-Day

Who: The Doctor and OPEN TO ALL
What: A meeting at the Carnival
Where: The Ferris Wheel
When: Let's say Mid-Day, shall we?
Rating: Possibly as high as PG-13 I'd guess, for language
OOC: To keep this organized if you want to start your own 'sub group' at the meeting, please start a thread beneath the main one.  Characters are open to jump into any sub-thread as this is a public place; however, please be polite and do not be in multiple active sub-threads at once! If you want to leave your subthread for another please post your character exiting the one thread so people don't wait for you to post in it.)

The Doctor had slept uneasily. It had been a long, long time since the Tme Lord had been unable to get a restful night's sleep. He think of a handful of times that he'd been unable to get comfortable or shut his mind off or just relax - but it was never quite as pronounced as this. The Doctor, waking from his slumber in the back of a bumper car. The night hadn't been too cold, and there was just something strangely amusing about falling asleep in the confines of a useless vehicle.

What wasn't so amusing was the way the Doctor had been awaken with a jolt as the car started moving. "What?!" Came a near yelp as the Doctor struggled to sit up in the car. Looking left and right the gallifreyan threw himself out of the car and onto the slippery mat. "What?!" He said again, ducking out of the path of an oncoming vehicle. This was beyond strange. There hadn't been any electricity before now. The Doctor wondered if the sudden source could be used to charge generators and batteries. Heading out with a dash he looked around - the carnival seemed suddenly quiet once more.

He found himself at the foot of the Ferris Wheel, which was stagnant and looming. He didn't like the feel of it suddenly. He hadn't been terribly at unease for a while; but, now he was feeling like a rat in a maze. Why would things come alive so suddenly? Taking out his journal the Doctor penned a note, making sure to remind everyone of the meeting they had planned. He'd need them all if they were to harvest any of the batteries from the bumper cars before they became useless. Taking up a seat on a bench the Doctor thought - where in the world could we get a screwdriver?

Setting his elbows to his knees the Doctor leaned forward and tried to relax. People would come, and when they did he'd be able to better think of ways to escape.

"Oh..." River had to admit she had rather hoped he had meant a real life person though accepted that he was speaking rather figurativly of the emotion instead.

River looked away from him, "It would hurt to have the whole world bottled in one head." she knew from experience that hearing things from every part she was near could be a bit hard on a human mind sometimes. Though she looked back and smiled at the idea of watching someone turn the things they see in their heads into a work of art.

The voices of the others caught River's attention for a moment. "They're here." she said curious, scanning the carnival to see who had chosen to arrive.

The Doctor's answer to her question pulled her attention back to him. "London?" She knew it had to be a place on the Earth that was. "On Earth?" she made a confused face. She seemed to be meeting more and more people who were from the Earth that was. She had to admit that it was a little frustrating to her. It made her curious as to whether or not she was just pulled into a past world rather than someplace in the present. Though London and the trading town sounded interesting, a wide smile formed on her face when he said the largest library she could imagine. River loved to learn new things almost as much as she loved to dance. "The largest?" she asked as her left arm unconciously grabbed her right elbow behind her back, "Where was it?" she wished it was someplace she could possibly visit someday if she ever got out of this place.

"Home..." River had to think about it. She had already been asked this question once before though just like then, it was still rather hard for her to answer. No one stayed on one planet for long anymore. There are those who try to live on the central Alliance core planets but even then...

River stared at the Doctor for a moment rather intently. She wanted to be sure that he was not one of them before she disclosed any information. When she was satisfied with what she saw she gave him what she could of the bare basics, "I was born on Osiris. But after Simon took me away I've been on the run with the crew." she shrugged, "Serenity is my home now, I suppose in the sense you are speaking."

Try worlds, the Time Lord thought. He had lots of things, millions of things, all bottled up in his brain. The Doctor knew that his brain worked quite a bit differently then her's probably did; but, it didn't matter. She was right, it would probably hurt to have an entire world wrapped up. "I suppose that's why the painter can only offer snapshots," the comment offered a bit off handedly.

"The Library?" He questioned, "Well, I'd like to tell you that, really I would; but, it's not safe to go back there. Entire planet, infested... Really not safe at all," he felt a pang of sadness then. River Song had been there; she was still there, locked away in a computer. She wasn't alone, and he didn't know her all that well; but, he felt she deserved so much better then that. "It was the largest though, largest in the universe."

He wanted to leave it at that; though, he had a feeling his frankness would probably won't lead to more questions. When she responded to his question of her home he could see a bit of discomfort behind her eyes. When she said she was from Osiris, a planet he supposed, and that she lived on a place called Serenity the Doctor assumed she was part of the Nomadic humans of the future. There was a comforting thought in that.

"Well, with luck we'll all be back to our homes soon enough," his voice trailed off as he took a moment to take in the people gathered around. He couldn't help but wonder where Martha was.

River read his thought on worlds. She looked at him with an intent expression trying to understand where he has been. Though she didn't question him aloud. He would explain in his own time. She shrugged at the painter comment. She wasn't really a good person to argue with something like that.

She looked away sadly when he said that the planet was infested. "Infested?" she wondered with what. She hoped it wasn't Reavers. Or else his friends would probably never see the light of day again. They would be lost forever. "I'm sorry." she said, refering to the person stuck inside the computer. "I wish I would have been able to see it." River always loved to learn anything she could possibly get her hands on.

River shook her head sadly. Though she didn't say anything to him that would possibly cause him to lose the hope that seemed to go along with his happy personality.

"Vashta Nerada," he replied to her question about the infestation. "Shadow piranhas," it was hard not to sound oddly enthralled by the creatures, they're interesting as they are fearsome. "Entire library constructed of books and shelves of their native forest."

He was shifting back and forth on his heels. Martha was still nowhere to be found. "Have you seen Martha about?" Reflexively a hand reached up to scratch his head, his hair reacting predictably by splaying out in a million different directions than before. The lack of a shower was not showing kindly in the Doctor's hair - nor in the creases about his features. He'd have to find that gym.

"It was spectacular," he trailed back around to the library.
