Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!complete, day 15, location: gym, selene, the doctor (nine)

Who:  The Ninth Doctor and Selene
What: The Doctor is still trying to find out what's going on..
Where: Moving from the Post Office to the Gym
When: 12:30PM, Day 15
Rating: PG-13
Status: Compelte

After that unfortunately abrupt, brief interaction with the pretty young woman who seemed to think he was a clone (really, a clone?) the Doctor had focused blue eyes onto the gym across the way and was once again looking down at the strange little box of 'goodies' he'd been left. Really, he was quite thankful that he'd run into the nutter when he had.. she hadn't reacted well to his calling himself The Doctor at all. Sometimes it was like that.. sometimes he'd been places that he didn't remember being, and met people he didn't remember meeting, because he hadn't been there yet. And really, if he'd announced that he was The Doctor in front of a group full of people.. and they had reacted the way she had? Well, he didn't want to become public enemy number one in this little town he knew nothing of. He already held that title in other places and wasn't very proud of it. Well. Okay, maybe sometimes he was. But only when he gave into that little urge twitching at the back of his mind.

From now on, he'd be John Smith.

And once he'd decided that, John Smith was calmly making his way across the dirty, dusty road and towards the large structure across from the post office. The girl had seemed amiable enough before he'd given himself a designation.. so maybe the rest of the people would be just as nice to John Smith as she had been to the nameless man with the box.

The vampire cracked a small smile when he more or less voiced her thoughts. That and the sight of his was a little infectious. It probably helped that he was perfectly calm and in control of himself. Selene knew vampires that couldn't even manage that. "I'll have to work on it. Habit." She noticed him glance at the sky but refrained herself. The warmth of the sun was quite easy for her to feel and as it was she kept wanting to glance at her skin, make sure she wasn't burning and just couldn't feel it. That kind of behavior would definitely give her away. "Does this other you look like you as well?"

"No." He assured her, his face twisting some into a proper, displeased frown, and he shook his head. "He looks funny." So said the man with the large ears and nose, and that big, goofy grin. Which, in fact, he broke into as soon as he'd voiced his opinion about the 'Other Him'. Strange man.

"You know." He observed after a moment, taking his journal out to flip through it again, shaking his head some as he did. "There has to be something that's useful in-- aah." He had come across the recently drawn map, and was turning his journal to the side so he could look at it properly. "A map." He came a step closer to her so that she could see it also, and he raised his eyebrows some at the man labeled 'Jack' in the museum -- why was it all written in French? Then he noticed 'Le Docteur' who was saying that he was clever, and it made him smile wider, shaking his head. The barn, okay, that was where he had to end up. "It's like having our own personal tour guide."

"Good. I don't think I could handle trying to tell apart twins." She was glancing around, staying attentive to their surroundings, when he began flipping through the journal, only really drawing her attention when he moved so she could look as well. It was a crudely drawn map, obviously, but the French drew her attention. "I wonder... the man I spoke with earlier, he mentioned something about drawing up a map of the place recently. His speech was peppered with French, it'd make sense why the drawing would be labeled that way." She tilted her head a little as she took in the map, memorizing it. Sure, she could just look in her little book, but that would take more time than simply recalling details from memory. Looking at the map also made her think of something she hadn't earlier when Gambit had given her a quick rundown of all the buildings. Museums didn't only have paintings and art; perhaps there was an antique blade or two stashed inside. Even if they weren't very sharp it would still be better than nothing, surely better than anything she might find at the carnival.

"I spoke with someone in the journals, spoke some French, this could be his handwriting." He looked it over more closely, then nodded. It looked about right. "Well, we might be here a few days, best to get comfortable, I think, find some place to make a temporary home." Temporary, of course, because his only home was his TARDIS. He wanted it back and he wanted it now. Whoever was running this show had clearly taken not only his TARDIS, but also his.. later TARDIS. The same TARDIS.

"I plan to stop by the barn." He pointed then to the picture on the map. He needed to talk to himself. Gosh, that sounded so strange to say. It had happened twice before, but it was still so surprising.

Selene nodded slightly, making a mental note. Provided he was the only one with dual hearts -- well, he and the other him, which she was still confused about -- she wasn't too worried about being able to find him. "Perhaps I'll meet you over there, then. I want to find the clock tower, get a good view of this place." Her gaze shifted from the journal up to him, and she smiled slightly. "Right now I don't know if I'm up for meeting another you and hearing more business about this place being on another planet."

"Maybe not a planet. Maybe just a moon." He smiled widely at her before closing up his book and tucking it away into his pocket again. "Clock tower, right." The Doctor could understand her wanting to get a good look around, and surely, being at the top of the Clock Tower would certainly do that.

"We'll meet back up." He knew they would in this little town. Especially if they couldn't escape it. "It was good to see you're okay, Selene." He had been a little worried, but he wasn't going to admit it. And with that, he was stepping back, then looking down at his journal again. Maps were useful, though he never.. actually used them. This was novel.

Just a moon could be worse for her, if there were any lycans around. Her smile widened slightly at his last comment, and she felt better that she hadn't been the only one with some concern for the other. "Likewise, Doctor. Stay safe." For once she actually felt confident saying that to someone, as she had no doubt he was more than capable of keeping himself out of harm's way. No, she figured she was more likely to find trouble. Call it a hunch. With a parting nod the vampire started toward the center of the town, and for the clock tower. Part of her was hoping she wouldn't come across anyone else on her way. She wasn't sure how much more strange information she could take, and she didn't really want to come across anyone else not quite human. Not until she had her bearings at least.
