Experiment: House and Rose Tyler
Who : Doctor Gregory House and Rose Tyler
What: Minding the shadows
Where: An undisclosed location
When : 8:34 AM, Day 15
Rating: PG-13

Status: Active

Look what you have here, Doctor House! We've given you your own cheeky, curvy, blonde Londoner to oggle. And you, Miss Tyler? Well, we've given you another doctor! Unfortunately, there are other things you both should concern yourself with, yes? The room our pair wake up in is lit by a single, flickering bulb from the ceiling. The walls appear to be wet, as does the periphery of the floor before whatever is dripping down the walls flows very neatly down the drain. See, we do care about you!

The pair are leaned very neatly against one another on a single folding chair. From where they are, they'd have to take a minium of four steps to get to the wall. At various points against the walls are a smattering of mirrors. Some as small as a compact, others full length, others more ornate and decorative. Some are smashed, some are cracked, while some are fully intact. Mind those mirrors, darlings.

Rose rolled her eyes, attempting to glance around the room once more. Was that a shadow behind her? No, no, these awful lights were just playing with her head. Right? Oh, God. She shouldn't have left Satellite 5. Might've been better to die than to ride this out with Mr. Personality.

"Well, Doctor House, the name, in case you missed it? Is Rose. Not Blondie. Let's work to remember that, yes?" Bad mood? Rose? Perhaps a little. She was used to near death experiences. Being driven insane was another story entirely. She was also used to crotchety old men, but the Doctor at least helped people. This...well, doctor, didn't seem the least bit helpful.

Shaking her head, she flinched as the hundreds or thousands of mirrored Roses shook theirs, too. "Any of us? Who would 'any of us' be?" That meant there were more people there. But it was only the two of them in the room. Two of them and several fragmented reflections.

It wasn't in House's job description to be either nice or helpful. He was an ass and he knew it and there wasn't a damn thing anyone could do to change him. Maybe if he got off the vicodin he'd be a tad more personable.

Naaaaah.

"Rose. Blondie. Whichever," he said with a shrug. Not that he really cared. House turned, catching sight of something in the mirror behind himself, but when he looked there was nothing there. Now that was just odd. House shook himself and resumed rubbing his leg.

"Any of us. Those of us here in this place. Hell-hole, really," House said, though he was sure he wasn't making much sense to her. "Place is known as Vas Captio. But all I know is they like to fuck with us here. Whole group of people all trapped. But like I said -- rooms like this are certainly new to me."

Smartass. That's what he was, Dr. Smartass. She figured she'd commit that one to memory. In fact, she rather liked that, and if she ever got the hell out of there, she'd have to tell Mickey. He'd get a kick out of it, too.

"When I'm getting fucked, I like a little more pleasure for myself out of it," Rose retorted, looking the stranger square in his bright blue eyes. He'd probably be pretty hot for an old guy if he'd shut up for a minute or two. Or at least smiled.

She took careful steps around the room, trying desperately not to touch anything with any part of her body that wasn't her feet. This was too weird. "How did they...we all get here, then? I mean, I don't even remember being dragged off anywhere or anything." That was probably obvious to the man near her, but she refused to accept that. This couldn't be considered normal, not to anyone.

Then, a moment later, she noticed his repetitive action. And Rose, being Rose and the compassionate type, couldn't exactly ignore it. "Are you alright?" she asked, nodding down to his leg.

Smartass was only one of House's many irredeemable qualities. He also answered to jackass, pain-in-the-ass and any other combination of nouns and adjectives that could be combined with 'ass'. Wasn't his fault, it was just the way he was and when one was as brilliant as he was, he could certainly afford to be a pain. People would always come to him no matter if he was kind or a bastard.

"Clearly you've never been to Vegas," House replied dryly in response to the getting fucked bit. He gave her a look that said he knew exactly what he was talking about even if he hadn't ever done that scene himself. As he said: everybody lies -- including Gregory House.

At that, House shook his head. "No one knows. One moment you're one place, the next another. I was in the middle of staring at Cuddy's breasts and the next minute I was here." Which was a damn shame. They had been particularly perky that day too.

House rolled his eyes skyward. "Let's see how good your powers of deduction are. I'm groaning, and rubbing my leg. Let's see......." He let the word hang in the air for a time. "Yep. Perfect. Just fine. Couldn't ever be better!"

Gregory House was an asshole.

For a moment, Rose wasn't sure whether to laugh or to slap him, or perhaps to take one of those shards of mirror and slash his eyes out. Christ, if she had to get kidnapped on a day like today, couldn't they have at least stranded her with someone relatively pleasant? "This is so not my best day ever," she grumbled, more to herself than Groucho over there.

"Guess that'll teach you to be a chauvenist pig, won't it?" Rose scoffed, annoyance evident in her voice. "No woman needs to be stared at. At least, I'm assuming Cuddy is a woman, or else you're into manboobs. Don't get me wrong, if you're into guys, that's totally okay, but no one ought to be staring down manboobs."

Ah, she was definitely back on her game. Her experiences from the last couple of days hadn't entirely killed her good humor. Well...sense of good humor, maybe.
