Who: Elliot Reid and Lexie Grey
What: Girl talk.
When: Mid-Morning
Where: The Gym, Lexie's room
Rating: PG-13 for language
Status: Active

Taking a warm, if not exactly hot, shower after the previous three days had felt so good that she almost didn't mind the fact that there were no walls or doors in the gym shower. Still, the possibility tht someone could walk in at any moment cut the shower shorter than it might have been otherwise. She'd scrubbed her face and body clean with the soap she'd borrowed from Lexie, marvelling at the restored smoothness of her knees and the lack of a puncture wound to her side. By the time she'd washed her hair and had wrapped the bright yellow shirt she'd been wearing for the last day around it to soak up some of the water Elliot's spirits were pretty high.

She quickly dressed, putting back on the clothes she'd arrived in though she couldn't make herself slip back into the heels that had become the bane of her existance over the last two days. The gym floor was cool under her bare feet as she picked up Lexie's shampoo and soap and headed back to the room she'd first found the doctor in.

She knocked lightly, reaching up to steady the bright yellow turban that was still soaking up the excess water from her hair. "Lexie? Are you there?"

"The doctoring part? No, that wasn't really the hard part. The hard part seems to be my teachers. Yang doesn't want to teach, she's too busy trying to land herself on the fast track in Cardio land that she doesn't seem to think her interns need their resident..." Lexie shrugged. Seattle Grace was such a soap opera she opted against going in to everything with Meredith or George. No, that didn't need saying. No, learning the procedures and the names and everything, that was the easy part. The hard part for Lexie sometimes seemed to be navigating the politics and personalities of her coworkers.

In a weird way Lexie wasn't looking forward to going back. She'd had an odd bit of autonomy here - and while she hadn't needed to perform a single surgery, she felt like she was in charge of her own destiny. Like she could really be a real doctor.

"Though, House did make me cry... I'll never give him the satisfaction of knowing, but he did. He's such a jerk sometimes." Lexie rolled her eyes. "At least people like Andy, Sam and Dean make up for it, you know? The jerks of the world, I mean."

Elliot made a disgusted sound and leaned forward. "Don't even get me started on teachers. Dr. Cox is so freaking negative! If he's not trying to insult you he's telling you that we're only delaying the inevitable by treating half our patients. The majority of the ones we see in internal medicine will be back again and again and again and again until they die." Elliot stopped, a look of horror coloring her face. "Oh, God. Now I sound like him."

She sighed and shook her head. "The thing is though, he doesn't believe it. He's a jerk, but he tries to save as many people as he can. I think he's just so jaded and disillusioned that he can't help but push it on the rest of us. Maybe his way of helping is not helping, or something. I don't know. I used to get so frustrated because he obviously favored my friend JD...who is a huge suck up, but it doesn't bother me anymore. I'm a good doctor and I got there on my own. He taught me how to stand on my own two feet and I guess I'll always be grateful for that."

Elliot sighed, her eyes moving towards the light coming through the small window. Her gaze quickly moved back to Lexie when she said Dr. House had made her cry. "He did? What did he do?" She nodded. "That's the spirit. Never let them know." She smiled at the mention of Dean and Andy. "Definitely." Pause. "Wait, who's Sam? Have you been holding out on me?" She teased.
