Who: Elliot Reid and Lexie Grey
What: Girl talk.
When: Mid-Morning
Where: The Gym, Lexie's room
Rating: PG-13 for language
Status: Active

Taking a warm, if not exactly hot, shower after the previous three days had felt so good that she almost didn't mind the fact that there were no walls or doors in the gym shower. Still, the possibility tht someone could walk in at any moment cut the shower shorter than it might have been otherwise. She'd scrubbed her face and body clean with the soap she'd borrowed from Lexie, marvelling at the restored smoothness of her knees and the lack of a puncture wound to her side. By the time she'd washed her hair and had wrapped the bright yellow shirt she'd been wearing for the last day around it to soak up some of the water Elliot's spirits were pretty high.

She quickly dressed, putting back on the clothes she'd arrived in though she couldn't make herself slip back into the heels that had become the bane of her existance over the last two days. The gym floor was cool under her bare feet as she picked up Lexie's shampoo and soap and headed back to the room she'd first found the doctor in.

She knocked lightly, reaching up to steady the bright yellow turban that was still soaking up the excess water from her hair. "Lexie? Are you there?"

Elliot heard Lexie's giggle and then matched it with one of her own. Amazing. Amazing how they could be sitting here in the wake of an Earthquake and she felt like they were sixteen years old and about to play Truth or Dare or something like that. Her giggle intensified at the absurdity of that thought and she couldn't help but feel a wave of gratefulness at Lexie for enabling her to laugh after the horrible things they'd been through.

"Yeah," Elliot said, with a smile and a nod. "He's a good guy. He really came through for Kim when everything happened. Kind of heroic if you ask me." She shut her eyes, embarrassment warming her face. "I feel kind of bad for calling him a wino when I first got here."

She shook her head at Lexie's comment regarding Dr. House. "You'd be surprised. I've got two doctors at Sacred Heart who could be long lost brothers of his. At least I can't be shocked by it the way I might have when I was an intern." She leaned back in her chair. "I've decided people only act like that if they're incredibly insecure or just a huge jerk. Or both, which is just scary."

It was amazing because yesterday she'd broken to bits and had to be comforted by Andy. She knew Andy would never mention it again, and that was a comfort; but, it still happened. She'd still felt the lowest she ever had in life. Even lower than when Mom died. She felt useless and incapable then. Now? Now that all had slipped back into the recesses of her mind, missing but not quite forgotten.

"He does seem like a great guy, right?" She paused thinking more about Andy. He knew what to say to make her feel better. And it wasn't just that whole 'forget about it a little while,' sort of better feeling that Dean managed. No, Andy centered her. He'd made her feel alright. He'd made her feel safe. Lexie realized that she'd stopped her giggling a moment, looking at the floor with a blush. Shake it off, Grey, she thought, running her hand down her face.

"Two? Gosh, we don't even have one at Seattle Grace. I mean, Yang is hearless and Baily can be pretty rough; but mean like him? Not quite." She was back in Seattle Grace then. Did this make Elliot her George, at least in the sense that George was her really good friend she could talk to about anything, not in the sense that she had loved George.

"I think in his case it's both," she smiled conspiratorially.

"Definitely," Elliot said, still thinking about how judgmental she'd been when she first got here. It was shaming really, how wrong she'd been. Then again this place didn't make any sense. Maybe she was being too hard on herself. In the real world she could've trusted things and maybe people to be what they seemed, but not here. Everything was broken here, the buildings, the heroes, everything.

She sighed, trying to push back the sudden influx of negative thoughts. She focused her attention on Lexie and was suprised to see some color in her cheeks. Was that because of the giggling or because of Andy? Elliot, tilted her head to the side slightly to study Lexie her mouth slightly open as she thought whether or not she should ask.

Then Lexie moved onto Dr. House and she let the topic slide momentarily. Elliot leaned forward. "Did you cry? I mean, at the beginning? Did it ever get so hard that you thought being a doctor wasn't for you?"

Elliot gave Lexie a small grin. "I don't think you're wrong."
