When: Day 12: Afternoon
Where: Gym
Rating: TBA

Elliot was running out of things to do. She'd thought on her first day that it would be impossible. Even her second day had seemed not to let up until she was bone weary and ready to sleep. The third day however seemed to be crawling by. Most of the patients were in stable condition and those that weren't were being checked on at regular intervals. They'd done all they could with the supplies they'd had and now all they could do was hope for swelling to go down and pray that infections didn't take hold. Which seemed to be a long shot considering how filthy everything and everyone was.

She would've given anything for a bath. She'd found a somewhat clean shirt in the clothes that Logan had brought over form the thrift shop to use as makeshift bandages and blankets. She'd swapped out her blood stained shirt for this one, thinking that most people wouldn't want to be treated by a doctor who looked like she just came from a butcher shop. The top was bright yellow and made her complexion look sallow, which is why she'd slipped her denim jacket over it to try to detract from the blinding brightness of it. All it really made her look like was that she was trying to smuggle the sun out underneath her jacket. She was pretty sure her face was filthy as well as her hair and as much as she'd washed her hands over the last couple of days, she really wanted more than anything, some scalding water and soap.

She was making the rounds, checking the side of the gym that House had been mainly responsible for. She wasn't sure where the other Doctor had gotten off to, though she was fairly certain that he probably hadn't gotten far. She didn't know why that was a relief to her, just that it was.

A cot opened up and she sunk down on it, glancing at her neighbor as she slipped off her heels and massaged her feet. "These shoes are killing me," she said, attempting and half afraid to strike up a conversation. "If I'd known I was going to get kidnapped and thrown into this hellhole I would've worn my sneakers. I don't care what they say about wearing white after Labor Day. Does this place even have Labor Day?" She sighed. "But no, I had to wear my sexy heels so I could do a victory walk back into Sacred Heart." She looked up at her neighbor. He was barely more than just a kid. She couldn't remember his name, but knew his injuries included a broken ankle and concussion. He looked confused. "That's the hospital I work in. You know, normally."

At her reply, Sid nearly opened his mouth to ask, "other than that?" but she added after a short pause that her name was Elliot. It was nearly reflex for him to point out to her that Elliot was a bloke's name, but he managed to bite it back because the last thing he wanted to do was offend the doctor when she was helping him. ...or trying to help him, he mentally amended. "Oh, right," he replied, for lack of anything else to say.

Pinching the bridge of his nose, Sid tried to think of the answer to her question. "Erm...'s long as I can remember, actually," he replied. "I dunno if I'm squinting a lot, though; it'd be reflexive, though, yeah?" he asked, opening his eyes and looking back at her, raising his eyebrows. "I used to get headaches like this whenever I'd lose my glasses, so...that's my guess, in any case," he added unnecessarily. He was sure that as a doctor, even if she wasn't an optometrist - or maybe she was, for all he knew - she'd know what he meant.

Sid offered Elliot a weak, forced smile that probably looked a bit more like a grimace than he was going for. He appreciated her efforts, but he did not appreciate, nor could he ignore, the pain that came with them. He took the two aspirins and shook his head. "S'alright," he replied, popping the pills and dry swallowing them. If there was one thing he'd learned spending as much time with Chris and Tony as he did it was how to dry swallow a pill or five. "Thanks," he added and nodded just slightly when she said she'd be back with something for the pain.

Relaxing back against the cot as best he could, Sid closed his eyes again. Knocking him out, he thought, would be preferable, but he wasn't going to say as much. Whatever she could give him would be better than he felt at that current moment in time, so he wasn't going to complain or look a gift horse in the mouth. As soon as he took whatever it was, though, he was going to feign sleep until he fell asleep; he wasn't exactly in the mood to chat at the moment. Hopefully, she'd understand and respect his wishes.

"Yeah," she said, looking up at him. "You're probably right." There was a long moment of silence as she ducked her head and finished up. She wasn't sure what else to say. Sid was either in too much pain to be talkative or he just wasn't the talkative type.

She watched him dry swallow the pills, her eyebrow shooting up. "Done that before?" She asked, her head turning to the side slightly. She cleared her throat and shook her head slightly a moment later. "You're welcome," she said, her lips tightening into a small smile. She nodded and after a moment of hesitation reached out and patted him on the shoulder. "I'll be right back."

She made her way through the cots and back to her side of the gym, reaching into the dwindling supply of anesthetics and preparing a needle. By the time she got back to Sid his eyes were closed, but she knew he was nowhere near asleep. Not yet, anyway.

"Back," she said softly, reaching down for his arm and turning it up. She administered the shot quickly, dropping his arm and sliding the needle into her coat pocket. "There," she said. "Give that a minute or two and it should help." He glanced behind her. "If you need anything else..." She said with a small shrug. "Just call for me."
