"Yeah," she said, looking up at him. "You're probably right." There was a long moment of silence as she ducked her head and finished up. She wasn't sure what else to say. Sid was either in too much pain to be talkative or he just wasn't the talkative type.
She watched him dry swallow the pills, her eyebrow shooting up. "Done that before?" She asked, her head turning to the side slightly. She cleared her throat and shook her head slightly a moment later. "You're welcome," she said, her lips tightening into a small smile. She nodded and after a moment of hesitation reached out and patted him on the shoulder. "I'll be right back."
She made her way through the cots and back to her side of the gym, reaching into the dwindling supply of anesthetics and preparing a needle. By the time she got back to Sid his eyes were closed, but she knew he was nowhere near asleep. Not yet, anyway.
"Back," she said softly, reaching down for his arm and turning it up. She administered the shot quickly, dropping his arm and sliding the needle into her coat pocket. "There," she said. "Give that a minute or two and it should help." He glanced behind her. "If you need anything else..." She said with a small shrug. "Just call for me."
