Entry tags:!dropped, day 11, jack harkness, location: in town, sarah jane smith, the doctor (ten)

WHO: Jack Harkness, the Doctor [Sarah Jane, feel free to tag in whenever if you'd like!]
WHAT: Jack's trying to keep everyone safe. Because he needs his comfort zone and that's what he does best.
WHEN: Mid-morning; Day 11
WHERE: Around and about town.
RATING: TBA
STATUS: Active

Journal still open, Jack wandered aimlessly through the still-silent town. Somehow, though, it didn't seem as strangein the daylight. Then again, nothing seemed creepy or out of place when the sun was still climbing in the sky. Of course, in the daylight, Jack could see the wreckage everywhere.

Why would the Powers do this? Outside of the fact that they were sadistic bastards. But why destroy nearly every building in the compound and injure so many that it would be next to impossible to rebuild. The next thing they knew, they'd be dropping new buildings in the next day. They could change the weather so it made sense that they could do whatever the hell they wanted. Not a comforting thought.

Jack had left the gym about mid-morning, unable to just sit any longer. And so he walked, checking his journal often, and trying to figure out how to fix things.

Jack saw the look reflected in the Doctor's eyes and could feel something chill deep inside him. There was something in his look that spoke volumes, a look that made Jack wonder just what the Doctor had been through yesterday. Jack, however, didn't have time to ask as they had come upon Sarah Jane too quickly. Later, though, later he would get the Doctor alone and see what was going on in his mind.

The chill lessened, however, seeing the Doctor and Sarah Jane together. Hell, the last time the three of them had been in the same place the world had been about to end. Then again, one could say that the world was getting close to ending now.

"Ah, Sarah Jane," Jack said, wrapping her in a careful hug and giving her a loud kiss on the cheek. "You look a bit better than yesterday," he said. "Feeling better?"

The Doctor's intention had never been to upset Jack. In fact, had the Time Lord been more conscious of what his expression was saying he might have tried to take the edge off it a bit. Instead, Sarah's presence had wiped it away as quickly as it had come. That would have to do.

The Doctor kicked a rubber-toed foot into the dirt, looking off and over Sarah Jane's shoulder. It was evident that he had a lot on his mind - and what good Doctor wouldn't? There was disaster and chaos and death all about and none of it sat well with him.

The Doctor smirked a bit as Jack embraced Sarah and put a less than discrete kiss on her cheek. It was just his way, and maybe one of these centuries the Doctor would come to accept that.

"Yes, feeling better, especially now," she said, grinning. She gave Jack a look as he pulled away after kissing her cheek, one she gave Clyde if she thought he was being a bit too cheeky with her. Luke, of course, had never received one of those looks; he could never be accused of being cheeky, since he, to her knowledge, had no idea what that meant. But, the look lasted only a moment, as the sheer relief of being together with the two of them again brought another smile to her face.

"How are the two of you?" she asked, looking them both over with a critical eye. It was difficult to tell if they'd been injured yesterday just by looking at them. "Holding up all right?" She looked to the Doctor specifically. She knew how deeply something like this would affect him. Senseless violence always affected him, especially if he was unable to stop it happening.
