Day Two: Past Mid-Day
Who: Luna Lovegood, Martha Jones
What: Patching Up
When: Just Past Mid-Day (Day Two)
Where: Martha's Base of Operations (lol, the Gym)
Rating: PG?
Status: Completed

Luna sat on the floor of the gym, her legs crossed, and in a fresh outfit of clothes. She was currently still shoeless, but she did not mind overly much, as her hair began drying. Yet again. Her muddy clothes had been difficult to wash and wring out, but she had hung them on an abandoned locker. This was her second fresh set of clothes in less than twenty-four hours, but hopefully they would at least hold for a little while longer.

Wiggling her bare toes, the blonde finger combed through her long locks, and considered cutting it all off. For all of a moment or two. It was a nuisance, but she did hope that she would not be dragged through the mud again for at least a day. It would only be a considerate thing for the Fates to do.

While Martha had gone off to the Thrift Shoppe in search of supplies, Luna had gingerly washed mud and grit off of her back. Mud everywhere else was done quickly, but she had had to take her time in the icy water to make sure she got any residual mud out of the scratches. Shivering just from the memory, Luna tucked her knees up against her chest as she sat there. She wondered how Andy was doing, and hoped he was okay. Oh, he would be, she thought silently to herself.

Martha smiled at Luna amused. "Well good." At least her name fit her. There was a time when every one had heard of her, and the Doctor. She smiled again, glancing over her clothes. It looked rather nice on her, if strange. While denium would have been better, Martha doubted there were more jeans in everyones sizes in the Thrift shop.

"Yes, I can see that. No, they didn't chain us up. They tied us up like you and Sam..." Martha commented, gently taking Luna's wrists, and turning them over. "They're not deep, mostly chaffed..." grabbing the cloth she'd brought with her, she started wrapping one wrist slowly. "Andy managed to get the knife out of the tree for us, and he cut us loose." She smiled at Luna. "No, I'll be fine. We'll get you taken care of."

"It should heal here in a couple days, wash it twice a day, and change the bandage. I'll send you with the two on your wrists, and two extras. That way when you take it off in the morning you can rinse the ones you were wearing and set them out to dry. Alright?" By the time she was done talking, both of Luna's wrists were wrapped.

"Oh, and could you do me a favor? Take this with you, and remind Andy to re-wrap his wound. This is more sanitary, also make sure he rinses that cut on his stomach out and he should splash his ear with water, which will hurt. But he should be fine in a couple of days." Martha handed over the extra pile she had next to her.

"All patched up."

It had been over four hours since she had woken in the middle of the forest again, this time tied to Sam. They had spent some time in the church, where she had grabbed the second of the three outfits she had found to fit her in the thrift store. Only later after they had set out to see if they could find anyone else, during a lull in the heavy rain, only then did they find answers about Andy in the journals.

Past experience should have told her to avoid any such journals that had entries written by other parties unseen. However, she doubted that any other dark wizards split their souls into diaries, and certainly not more than one individual at a time. The first entry had startled her, but the second had served to put her just a little at ease, made her at least able to use hers without fearing that her soul would be sucked away. Still, when she had slept, she had kept it securely in its box, just in case.

Edging on complete disinterest, Luna watched the other woman inspect and then bandage her wrists. With an unusual amount of focus on the Healer, she touched one of the hands tending her with the tips of her finger. "Healer Martha, how badly is he injured?" For once there was nothing ethereal about her tone, it stood firmly on solid ground.

She nodded, in understanding. Thankfully, in her opinion, she had dealt with bandages on both herself and on others for many years. It might have been awhile, but she could follow instructions a Healer would give her. "He won't forget," and just like that her voice returned to its normally dreamy quality. Even while concern peaked with each description of Andy's wounds. None of which had she been aware of. He had only said that he had been hurt, but nothing on how bad it was.

Looking down at her wrists for a second, and then back up at Martha, she nodded. As she withdrew her arms and pulled them closer to her body. "Thank you."

Martha looked up when Luna touched one of her hands. After asking how badly he was hurt Martha smiled at her. At least Andy wasn't barking up a disinterested tree. She put her own hand over Luna's "He'll be fine, it's fairly deep but small so the bleeding should stop soon, and as long as he keeps the bandage clean it won't get infected. Should start healing up in a couple of days. He'll walk normally and you won't even notice a scar."

Martha winced slightly as she readjusted herself, and nodded at Luna as she with drew her arms. "Sam mentioned your back, will you lean foreword for me?" Martha asked, sliding herself around so she could examine her back. How she wished she had some of her equipment, any of it really, mostly the antibiotic creams and pills. Those'd be helpful. Oh well, she'd just have to make do.

Waiting until the woman complied with her request, Martha un-clipped the supsenders, and pulled them aside so she could lift the shirt. "Ah, that's not so bad." Martha commented, looking around for her rags, grabbing a couple, she dabbed at the wound. "Sorry" the bleeding had slowed to a sluggish crawl. "It's already starting to clot, which is a good sign. It looks like you did a good job getting the mud and grit out of it. I'm just going to get more water and do it again."

Pushing back a little, Martha used the wall to push herself up. Cups...or bowls. Something to hold water. that's what I need. She thought as she made her way into the office she and Tink were using as a sleeping room. Once inside she leaned against the wall, and took a few deep breaths. Glancing around she found the bottle of water from yesterday and made her way back out to Luna.

It was good at least that the Healer said Andy would be okay. Luna really did not like the idea of him being hurt, not in the least. Sometimes bad things happened, and you could not stop them, sometimes not even prevent them, but she still did not like when they did. "Good," she murmured quietly, "That's good."

Doing as instructed, the smaller woman leant forward, allowing the other to slide off the suspenders and pull up her shirt. With some minor pain at stretching the skin at her back, especially where it was damaged, Luna bit her bottom lip. It really was not all that bad, mostly shallow, although each cut about two inches long deepened slightly at the lower end. Evenly spaced, they were the exact placement and distance of a wolf's clawed feet.

Luna winced at Martha's attention to the small scratches, but did her best not to make a sound if she did not have to. "It's okay," as she wrapped her forearms around her knees, pulling them tighter against her chest. While she wanted to ask if it was really necessary to wash out the cuts again, she just nodded, knowing that the Healer knew better. They almost always did, unless wrackspurts got to them first.

The good news was, however, that there was a Healer around to make sure that they were all okay. Everyone was alive, able to walk and talk. Some days you had to take each small win and appreciate it as best you could.

Martha tried to be as gentle as possible, ringing the water out just above the wound. When she felt that it was sufficiently clean, she grabbed the longest part of the sheet.

"Now, I'm going to have to wrap this kind of funny, normally we'd just put a couple of cotton bandages but since we don't have that...I'll wrap it kind of like I did your wrists. " Lifting up the shirt, Martha reached around and slowly pulled the sheet from midrift around to the back. "The cloth should help it from getting dirty. However, come back tomorrow and shower, I'll look at it then but I don't think it'll need to be wrapped. Sleep on your stomach if you can..." she left off the 'if you sleep' part.

"There you go. I'm afraid that's all I can do for you at the moment Luna. I wish there was more." Martha gave another small sigh, and pulled herself away. "Now, I think Andy is probably looking for you. He headed up to the church." She pulled herself back up, and offered a hand down to Luna.

Having been a patient of a Healer for at least her share of time, if not a smidge or two more. Being knocked unconscious, stunned, hexed and the occasional temporary curse, all done by the age of sixteen, it had turned her into quite the compliant patient. Not that Poppy Pomfrey would have stood for absolutely anything less from the students of Hogwarts. Still, in all her stern adherence to rules, Luna had adored the Healer.

Martha reminded her of the older Witch. Obviously not in looks, stature or age, but just in the fact that seemed to genuinely care and know what she was doing. It was comforting.

Listening attentively to the instructions she was given, as well as just to Martha's calm demeanor over the whole event, Luna nodded in understanding. Even if she could not see Martha's face for the most part. The fact that the other woman spoke in a British accent was familiar, and comforting for the fact. Not that Luna minded the American accents she had heard as of yet, but a familiar balm to any possibly frayed nerves.

"Okay," she nodded once, before standing. Luna pulled her shirt back down, as well as slipping her suspenders back up over her shoulders. The jacket was a bit more difficult to put on, but she knew it would be quite helpful in keeping the rain out. "It's enough, thank you Martha." Gratefully, Luna took the hand offered.

"I will head there now," and with that she was wandering off, out the door. Without even registering that she was still barefoot.
