When the dead woman emerged from her beer chest, she sighed and almost flung the journal into the case but paused, thinking better of it. Instead, she closed the fridge up as fast as possible, hoping to keep some of the cold in. It had been a decent refuge. It worked for now. Hopefully there would be something as discreet at the convenience store. If not, she knew she'd be able to make it back here. Laura packed up her "survival kit," which really had nothing that was essential to survival, grabbed a six pack of beer, and started walking, heading back towards the carnival and, hopefully, to the convenience store.

She hadn't had much of an opinion of him, not after they had met in the forest. There had only been the vague impression that he reminded her of someone from high school, and she couldn't even be sure that the memory was her own. They got jumbled up sometimes, mixed up in transmission; sometimes her thoughts could belong to anyone. Still, he seemed nice enough, and no one had told her that she was attractive in nine months. Nine months she'd been dead, and for someone that dead she was doing pretty well for herself. Of course, the Norns had certainly helped, though she couldn't help but feel a little greedy. They weren't here, and with that glass wall it didn't seem that she would ever make it back to Ash Farm. She had to wonder if this place had a cemetery and if anyone would bother to bury her. Probably, she thought, It would be unsanitary to have my decomposed remains lying around. Will I still be conscious? Ah well. Thoughts for another time.

Jay's light was an oddity. As she knew him and could put a name and a face with it, it seemed even more so. It wasn't bright and shining and overpowering like Shadow's had been, but it was distinct. She would be able to find him if he was ever in peril. At the moment, though, she decided to just play with him a little bit. Following the light, she could feel the blood pumping through his veins as she got closer. It was hot, so alive, so warm. She was silent as she moved, and a moment or two later, only about five to seven minutes after she'd closed her journal and started walking, Laura was behind him. As far as she could tell, he was completely unaware of her presence.

"Boo," she said, placing down the cans of beer that she'd found with a slight thud. She smirked, taking a step away from him, still behind, wondering how he'd react. Humans were always so funny and interesting to study.

She smirked. He seemed like the kind of guy that girls would turn tails and run from. I mean, didn't every high school have guys like him? Granted, Laura had always hung out with them. She was poor, they were poor, and it wasn't like they all had a whole hell of a lot of ambition. They'd all sit around and talk about nothing. They'd smoke weed, she'd smoke cigarettes, they'd drink, and then the party would start.

"Yeah. I'm an uncontrollable shit show once I've had a few. I don't know how many people in my graduating class had seen my underwear, at least, by the time I left high school."

Ah, good times. Well, not really. Good times were after she met Shadow. But there was something wonderful about having been so wild.

"So, when you say shit yeah, does that mean that you like men too? Or is that supposed to be encouraging me not to suddenly become a lesbian without notice?"

Reaching out, Laura gave him a playful shove. She had to be very careful not to use too much force. "And, for the record, how can I? I can't." She shrugged. "But I do." Guilt could be a mood killer, though it was faint at best.

So basically what Laura was getting at was that she'd been a slut in high school. Jay knew many of those in his own high school, the two most well known of all being Caitlin Bree and Finger Cuffs. If Laura was anything like them, she'd been around. Jay didn't judge. He actually nodded approvingly!

His smile disappeared as soon as she asked if he liked men. What the fuck?! "Shit no, bitch, I ain't gay." 'Nuff said. "Yeah the other thing you said."

Jay shrugged and offered her an expression of admiration. "You's a trooper, then." A celibate trooper. Poor woman.

Laura laughed, shaking her head, finishing the last of her beer. She arched a brow at him again, smirking. "You know, there you go with that 'bitch' thing again. If you keep using it, I might start liking it. That might be a problem, yeah? I always was one for dirty talk."

Tossing her hair, she leaned back a bit. She'd never called herself a slut, but it was possible that she had been one. Her memories were a little bit foggy. She'd always just thought that she liked to hang out with guys and have a good time when the mood was right. Slut had never even really been an option. She hadn't had enough female friends to merit that kind of talk; it was usually girls who gave other girls that kind of label, after all.

"There's nothing wrong with a little guy on guy or girl on girl action now and then. Can't say that I was ever part of it myself, but it was definitely something to see, yeah?" She shrugged. "And no trooper. It just hasn't been a viable option, having sex. Opportunity didn't present itself."

There she was again with the liking to be called bitch. Not even Justice let him get away with that. "No problem. If you wanna be called that, I don't see anything wrong with that." He shrugged, smashing his beer can between his hands.

Jay picked the fuel can up and threw some of it into the trashcan, as the fire was getting weaker. He listened to Laura with one raised eyebrow.

"Girl on girl is damn fine, but better if I'm in between." Jay smirked. "Well..." He winked, and his smirk turned into a grin. "Opportunity is here."

Her dark blue eyes looked over at him with a sad half-smile. She laughed under her breath, and the sound was a bit of a rasp. "Yes," she answered, her gaze turning skywards, "I suppose that the opportunity is here."

Getting up, Laura moved closer to Jay. She was slow, purposely moving carefully so as not to scare him. She rested a hand on his knee and leaned in, kissing him squarely on the lips, her fingers applying a little bit of pressure.

It was a short kiss, chaste, yet it felt as if the dark haired woman was throwing her entire soul into it. Her lips were soft but cold, icy, and the scent of perfume and chemicals was a little overwhelming at that proximity. She pulled away, eyes opening, and he'd find that the chill on his lips remained for a moment, there was a faint tingle, and her breath, though clean, smelled faintly of mothballs and clove cigarettes.

"I have to go fight a cougar tonight. Alone. Thanks for giving me something to come back for. I'll see you around, Jay. You're a good guy." With that, the pale woman turned and dashed off towards the woods, giving a little wave back at him.
