Entry tags:!dropped, day 09, jack harkness, jenny schecter, location: museum, open, shannon rutherford

Day 9: Evening
Who: Jenny Schecter & Shannon Rutherford & OTA museum dwellers (quick tag posting only please)
What: Experimentation Slumber Party
When: Just after dark
Where: Museum
Rating: R (language, drugs, and other naughty things probably)
Status: Dropped

Jenny smiled widely as she sauntered up the steps to the museum front door in the pale twilight. She had, in her hand, a paper bag from the gas station. In it she'd managed to collect a few items for a fun time. Some of them she might not have normally brought or consumed, like the brick of pot and rolling papers that Sid had thankfully allowed her to have and taught her to use. Some of them were only for certain fun times like slumber parties with pot, like the munchies which were probably stale but would be delicious when they were both fiending for food.

This was going to be a seriously fun night. She hoped that she wouldn't fuck it up the way she had fucked up just about everything else she'd tried to do since she was tossed into the fray. As long as she kept her mind off her past and anything unhappy or scary, she should do fine. She could handle that, right? Besides this was Shannon. Shannon was cool and they shared enough in common that Shannon would probably understand if she slipped a little. She hoped.

With a deep breath, Jenny brushed her hand down the length of her slightly dirty tea dress, brushed the hair from her eyes and knocked on the door to the museum. She bounced a little on her heels with anticipation. She couldn't wait to get started.

Shannon's hair was finally starting to dry as the sun went down and she flipped idly through her journal, reading old things just to pass the time. She'd cleared out one of the more decrepit rooms because she didn't want to barge in on either Domeki or Watanuki if they were still there, even when knocking didn't yield an answer. She wouldn't have appreciated anyone digging through her things or helping themselves to her room, so she didn't want to go into theirs and tempt herself to do just that. Boredom sometimes did not-so-wonderful things to people. She'd taken the blanket from the room she shared with Sam and then thought better of it, since she was leaving him alone again. The least she could do if she didn't have the guts to tell him why she'd really abandoned him was leave him a blanket in case it got cold. If it got cold in their room, maybe the Doctor would lend she and Jenny one of his. Or...whatever, they could just do what she and Sam did. No big deal.

But when the sun went down and Jenny still hadn't come, Shannon's heart sank a little. She thought maybe Jenny had decided it was too much trouble after all and had changed her mind again. She thought maybe Jenny had concluded that she didn't want to come after all.

So, when there was a knock at the front door, Shannon looked up, surprised. Then, sighed and got to her feet. Just because there was a knock, didn't mean it was Jenny. She'd barricaded the door, since she hadn't seen anyone around and it really wasn't Ianto's job, anyway, to be her protector. She didn't want that from him and she wouldn't put herself in a position to force it onto him. Ianto was a friend...perhaps with benefits, but still, a friend and Shannon had learned the hard way with Dean what happened when she relied too heavily on a friend to keep her safe.

"Coming," Shannon called out and made her way into the main lobby, pushing all of her weight against the large, heavy display she'd propped up in front of the door. It took some effort, but she didn't grow as frustrated as she had when she'd blockaded herself in the previous day and had trouble pushing the display out of the way to let Dean in. Yeah, it was still annoying, but...it'd move eventually. After a few minutes, she'd managed to push it far enough away from the door that it wouldn't open all the way completely, probably, but it would open. At least if she wasn't alone, she wouldn't have to put it back in place, whether it was Jenny or someone else who lived there.

Still, before she opened the door, Shannon took up the two-by-four and stepped back, lifting the wood the same way she had when Sam had come in the first night; the same way she'd been doing every time she opened the door when she was alone or thought she was. If it was a female voice, she'd put the wood down. If it was a male one she didn't recognize, she'd hold it steady and repeat the process she had with Sam on the second night. "Who is it?"

When the knock didn't immediately produce any sort of movement on the other side of the door, Jenny felt her smile falter. She waited, antsy in the darkness of the front steps. She wasn't going to let herself think that this wasn't going to happen. She twisted around a bit, the bag swinging around her knees as she looked around at the world behind her. She couldn't see a whole lot but what she did see filled her with a sense of being small and helpless.

Tentatively, Jenny knocked on the door again and instantly she could hear all sorts of noise behind the door. She squeaked softly and jumped back, startled by the suddenness of it. Shannon must have barricaded herself in the way she had barricaded herself in the back room of the library last night so she could sleep. She couldn't blame the other girl. This place was enough to make the most sane person crazy.

Then a female voice asked who she was and Jenny smiled again. "It's me. It's Jenny!" she called back and bounced again with anticipation causing a waft of the brick of pot in her bag to filter up toward her nose. It made her sneeze and she giggled. "I brought the party. Can I come in?"
