Day 9: Early Morning
Who: Jack Sparrow & OTA (and I do mean ALL)
What: Looking for the rum
When: Early morning
Where: Pharmacy/Liquor Store
Rating: PGish, probably some alcohol content
Status: Active

It had been cold yesterday and now it was hotter than a dead man's corpse on deck in the sun. This place had to be in the middle of some mystical portal to the underworld or something like that. Jack wasn't sure but he did know that he was nowhere near any sort of water and therefore under no obligation to captain a ship. He had none of his personal affects, including the compass, but at least he had his hat. It all pointed to him not having much else to do other than look for the rum.

He had half-stumbled out of the forest at some point yesterday afternoon after wandering around aimlessly and hopelessly lost in the dense trees for hours. From there he had happened upon the old ghost town with the strange-looking buildings with their signs in languages he could not read or understand. Looked like he wasn't in the Caribbean anymore if there were no Creole translated signs. He didn't read English even if he could speak it. He'd spent the night, sprawled out in the heart of a massive, hollowed out oak. Good enough protection from the elements as it warmed up.

So when he woke up, still here in the tree with no fresh sea breeze blowing, he smiled to himself. He'd been dreaming of the day he'd spent on the deserted island, very much like this place, the rum runners had used to avoid detection. He'd ambled around until he found a building with bottles in the window. Aha! This was what he wanted. With wobbly legs, he bobbled inside the building with a look on his face as though he had just found a long lost treasure.

"He's a very dear friend, Captain Jack Harkness," Sarah replied. She slipped her hands into the pockets of her jacket, mostly for a place to keep them so they weren't hanging limply at her sides. "Although, he isn't a captain in the same way you are, not a naval captain."

Come to think of it, Sarah Jane wasn't quite sure what Jack was a captain of. She didn't think Torchwood had ranks like that, and the man hadn't been in UNIT, of that she was quite certain. Perhaps something to do with his life before Torchwood, then. She made a mental note to inquire about it one day.

She shook her head sadly at his question about the sea. "No water anywhere about that I've seen, I'm sorry. And we're apparently surrounded by a giant glass wall, so no hope of getting near the sea, or any large bodies of water." She shrugged. She could imagine how he must feel, being away from something that was such a part of him. Not being near Luke made her fret quite a bit. She raised her eyebrow at this Captain Jack's final question. "Several," she said, her voice a bit flat. "And quite a few gentlemen as well." Perhaps she was reading into his words too much, but the gesture and wording made her think he might be a bit...lewd. And that wouldn't do anyone any good at all. Still, best to be polite.

"As far as what else I've seen," Sarah continued, her tone changing again to a more open sounding one, "the town seems to be surrounded by woods, up until the glass. And everything here is in pretty bad shape." She glanced at the bottles lining the shelves around them. "It wouldn't surprise me if some of that's gone off."
