What: Gambit decides to take a closer look at the town.

Where: In the small town, nearest the gas station.

Remy had left Ammy behind in the forest, where they'd both woken up, with both of the 'survival kits'. He didn't know what was going on, but he certainly wasn't about to let her wander out into the open. She was a woman and she didn't seem to be that.. able to defend herself. No. The best idea was to leave her where they'd been safe for the last half hour or so, leave her where he knew there was nothing waiting in the wings for her. So that was what he'd done, and that was why he was presently moving quietly and cautiously out of the tree line towards the closest building he'd been able to see.. it looked a little like a gas station. What the Hell sort of screwed up place was this? Well, at least a gas station meant humans, right?

Unfortunately, it could have meant the people who had brought them here, but even if that was the case, Remy wouldn't have been that upset. In fact, he would have been thrilled, he could blow a few things up, demand to go home, and make it back before anyone even noticed he was missing. If Logan found out that he'd been captured like this, he would never hear the end of it from that Porcupine.

His heavy boot crunched on a twig as he came around the corner of the run-down looking convenience store and he inwardly winced, the noise sounding much louder in the silence around him, and he mentally scolded himself. What sort of proper thief made noise like that while he was going after something shiny? Not this thief! The Cajun lightened his steps as he came around to the front of the gas station and let partially gloved fingers trace over the gas pump, then he let his eyes wander to the front of the building. Maybe there was something inside he could use.

A deck of cards would be nice. "'Dis some screwed up shit." The trench-coat clad man announced quietly to the silence around him.

When the swing came, Gambit bent back easily, like a practiced acrobat dodging a planned attack. As if this had all been choreographed. Gambit knew Logan well enough to know he'd get swiped at eventually.

"Look who talkin'!" Declared in return. It came with a growing smile and Gambit was shaking his head, causing that deep red hair to fly into his face again, but it was removed with a quick shake. "You an' me, we go roun' an' roun'. Like I said. I kick your ass, Mon Petite Bete." He wasn't short anymore.. (that was so strange.. he'd have time to think more about it, come morning) but it didn't mean he couldn't call him little.

	Hmmm. Kid moved like he could fight. Either that, or Logan really /was/ a predictable bastard, if Gambit could anticipate him like that. Very much belatedly, it occurred to him to ask a question. When that question came, Gambit couldn't help himself, and a broad smile spread out across his features. "Why, I charm 'de ladies, o'course. Like a piper, leading 'dem straigh' t'my room." He made a walking motion with his fingers, and then flicked his hand aside, as if to dismiss it. "I charge 'de cards. But," He turned his pockets inside out then. "No cards t'be charged."

He never had been eager to dish out information about his powers, even though Logan already knew, Remy would rather make the other man find out on his own, all over again. The hard way.

Logan snorted. "Cocky little shit." Then he cocked his head slightly. Charged the cards? Something explosive, probably, unless he was making a joking reference to charge cards, which, given his smarmy comment about charming ladies, wasn't impossible.

"Do me a favor and don't make me kick your ass for hounding the women around here, all right? They're spooked enough being in a cage and being experimented on. And having Rorschach stalk 'em." The name comes out with a snarl, both verbal and facial. Whoever Rorschach is, he is /definitely/ in Logan's black book.

"Experimen'?" That caught his interest and he slowly lifted his eyebrows expectantly. He wanted more. "Who doin' d'experimen's? An' who is Rorschach?" Surprisingly, his name came out quite easily from the Cajun's mouth, without too much trouble with the pronunciation.

"You 'dere knight in shinin' armor, mon ami? So fittin', non? You got a sui' or armor to go along wit' 'dem claws? No worry, I don' go where I'm not wan'ed." He didn't chase down unwilling women.. but it didn't mean that he wouldn't flirt with them. It was, after all, in his nature. "'Sides, I got a woman." Rouge.. even though she was still denying it. He'd wear her down eventually.

"Yeah. Experiments." Logan says. "All sorts of bad shit been going on in here. Cougars being let loose. Big-ass, very stupid, ugly alien critters that like to hunt people, people disappearing. Getting /killed./ There's been at least two bodies found." Yeah, this is not playtime.

"Rorschach's a ... psychotic motherfucker. Y'know Sabretooth? Damn near that level of shithouse rat crazy, just without the healing. Wears a mask, and likes stalking folks. Attacked one of the women here the other day." Then he shrugged. "I ain't no knight, but fuck, someone's gotta keep 'em from getting hurt and scared by the people caught in here with 'em."

As Logan explained the ongoings of the small prison, Remy nodded once or twice, as if indicating that he understood. And when he got to the part about Rorschach, Gambit couldn't help but smile a little. "You ain' no knight.. lookit you. All puff' up an manly. D'accord. I will keep my han's off 'de ladies." He lifted them both, indicating his hands in a surrender sort of motion, before lowering them again.

"Less 'dey wan' 'dem, of course." There was always a catch. "I lef' a petite one back in 'de fores', so I coul' come explore wit'out worryin' 'bout her. Name Ammy, she maybe a hun'red feet in?" He was guessing the distance, of course. But it was so dark, that even that short distance would keep them from seeing her, or her from seeing them, so long as she stayed put. "You know, 'dis protec'r role, it really suit you, Wolvie." It was sort of a backhanded compliment, from the Cajun, who couldn't stop smiling.

Logan completely ignored the 'protector' tease. Mostly because he was honest enough with himself to admit, at least privately, that he /was/ protective as hell.

Rogue could attest to that. And Kaylee.

Gah, just /thinking/ about what Rorchach had done had steam coming out Logan's ears.

"Better go in and get her." He recommends. "One of us, anyway. Get her settled somewhere."

"Oui. You go an' get her, she 'bout uh hun'red feet Nor't." At least.. he thought that was North. So he pointed, just in case this place was turned around backwards. "You be able to smell her." Considering she said that she was a wolf? He imagined that smell would be very strong, and Logan would have no trouble getting to her.

"We meet back up at dawn, oui?" Because Gambit, being Gambit, wanted to check this place out for himself, see exactly what was going on. And he wanted to get the Hell out of here.

	Logan nods. "All right. I'll go get her, explain what's going on." He considers. "Prolly drop her off at the gym. She can sort things out from there." He hopes. He nodded. "Seeya at dawn, then. By the gym." He points to the relevant building, the bulk of which is visible even from here, though the details aren't. (Reply to this) (Parent)
