Day Five - Early Evening
Who: Sid Jenkins and Cielo
What: Chance meeting
When: Day 5, Early evening
Where: The theater
Rating: PG-13 for language...it's Sid, after all.
Status: Incomplete; dropped

The day was dragging and the sirens had gone past the point of annoying and well into the point of making Sid want to punch someone in the bloody face. His head was pounding now. After meeting up with Anders, even though Logan had said to stay put and to keep his 'damn head down,' Sid was itching to move around. There had to be a telly somewhere, right? Or a computer. Something. He was bored out of his mind already.

Dragging his feet as he walked slowly down the dirt road, Sid looked around as he went. Everything looked in shambles or worse. Even though he was restless, Sid was starting to get tired, his feet hurt, and he didn't feel like walking anymore. Dropping down onto the steps of the building in front of him, Sid took out his journal, the cigarettes, and a lighter. With one hand, he put a cigarette between his lips and lit it while, with the other, he poised his pen and jotted down a note to Logan. He tried to ignore how it reminded him of having to leave notes for his parents when he went out before he'd been old enough to take care of himself in their absence of concern for him.

Then, he stretched out and laid down on the top stair, closing his eyes. With a groan, he opened them again when the alarm sounded loudly almost as if in response. "Bollocks..." he muttered with a frown, staring up at the sky.

"All in your head?" Cielo blinked and looked rather confused by that statement. He thought that he could follow what Sid was trying to say and something at the back of his mind resonated with the idea - but it was still a pretty strange way to feel about the world. "That's kinda weird to think of the world like that but not that much weirder than mutants."

"Cigarette?" He echoed but the word really didn't mean anything to him. Once he saw Sid light and begin to smoke the narrow cylinder, he remembered that the other had been doing that when he'd first arrived and Cielo offered the cigarette back with a faint grin. "Sorry, you can have it back? I think I'll stick with the candy."

"Yeah," Sid confirmed. "'m on a fucked up trip or having a really fucked up dream, 's all." The more he said it, the more he believed it, even if everything in his being was telling him that he was lying to himself and that was only going to hurt him in the long run. "I can't really see how anything else is possible, yeah? You think Nirvana; I think someone slipped acid into my whiskey last night. Either way," he replied with a shrug, taking another drag.

Smiling slightly, Sid took the cigarette back, blowing the smoke out and off to the side so as not to hit Cielo with it. "'s all right," he said dismissively. Sid wasn't offended or anything and he certainly didn't mind actually getting to keep the cigarette. All the more for Sid. "So what brings you out this way, mate? Just walkin' or...?" Sid had come out this way just walking; trying to stretch his legs and prevent furthering of cabin fever before it really and truly took hold and set in.

"Huh. I wonder if that's it?" Cielo mused as he leaned back on his hands. Head tipped back, he watched the sky overhead thoughtfully for a long moment before continuing. "Though that kinda makes me like a figment of your imagination or something, doesn't it? Which would mean that Nirvana is just something made up, too." He paused and offered Sid a grin. "That kinda makes you god of all this too, huh? If it's all your creation and all."

"You probably like them more than I would," he laughed as he rooted the second to last pixie stick from his pocket. Nibbling off the end, he perched the tube between his lips. "Kinda cos I wanted to look around and kinda cos someone said that these candy things were good. I wanted to see for myself so I thought I'd go for a walk. How about you? How come you're out and about?"

"Maybe," Sid said with a shrug, pulling on the cigarette. He opened his mouth to go on with his theory and paused, grinning around the cigarette instead when Cielo said that it'd make him god of this whole thing. "Yeah, I s'pose it would, wouldn't it?" he laughed. "Hadn't thought of it that way, mate..."

Sid nodded. "Probably," he agreed. Sid was fond of smoking, but really only when he was stressed or drinking. The sodding alarm kept going off and Sid's head was still pounding, worse with every go of the damn thing, and so he supposed that was why he wanted the cigarettes so badly. "Pixie Stix?" Sid asked, looking over. "They're brilliant, yeah?" he went on, grinning widely. "I was bored sitting around the petrol station."

"You're a god and you didn't even know it," Cielo laughed at the very idea of it. He wasn't sure that he could conceive very well the idea of this entire place being made up in someone's head, but it really wouldn't be the strangest idea he'd ever heard. Nor would it be the strangest reality he'd ever experienced. "Could be pretty nice, though. You can add or take away whatever you'd like, yea? Make any of us anyway you want or even wish us all away with a single thought."

"Yea! They're really, really great. I can't get enough of them," he agreed eagerly. Realizing that it would probably be polite to do so, he rooted out another pixie stick and held it out in offering to Sid. "Yea, it can get pretty boring around here. I was hoping I'd find something to do but no luck yet."

Laughing along with Cielo, Sid raised his eyebrows and took another drag off the cigarette before blowing the smoke out along with his words. "If only life was so easy, yeah?" he joked. He hadn't really thought about the fact that if it was all in his head, he could actively change things about his surroundings. If that was the way things were, the first thing Sid was going to do was get rid of all the blokes and bring in his mates. Then he'd make it warmer outside and clean up the buildings so they didn't look so creepy and abandoned. "That's a point..." he said pensively, pulling off the cigarette again and again until it was spent. He flicked it carelessly out onto the dirt road with his middle finger and thumb.

"Thanks, mate!" Sid exclaimed, grinning widely as he took one of the offered candies. "I used to love these when I was a kid," he said, tearing off the top of the paper tube and letting the ripped piece flutter to the ground before tipping the tube back into his mouth and emptying it in one go. As Cielo explained that it was boring and he was hoping to find something to do, Sid let the sugar dissolve on his tongue and then swallowed, grimacing just slightly at the tang. "Yeah, 's a bit dull. I keep trying to take a nap to kill time, but those bloody alarms keep waking me," he muttered.

"Who says that life isn't so easy?" Cielo asked as he tipped his head curiously at Sid. In one way, he supposed that he did know that making things happen wasn't as simple as just wishing that they would but who said that the greatest triumphs didn't start with the smallest of steps? Besides, if Sid was the creator and the god of this place then he could probably do anything he might want; which also probably meant that it would be a really good idea to try to stay on his good side. "You can think about wishing for almost anything, yea? Sky's the limit and all! But that's kinda already working toward making it happen cos you sent that wish out into the universe and you already set your feet on that path." He grinned widely and shrugged his shoulders. "I dunno. It's prolly easier if you can just wish and poof it happens, huh?"

"Glad to share! S'no fun eating good stuff like this if you can't share," he grinned from around the opened end of his own pixie stix. Even though he had been bored before he had wandered over in this direction, he found himself feeling a bit better about the whole situation now that he'd found someone to talk to - and to share his candy with. "I was thinking of going to sleep, too, but I dunno if I could sleep through the sound of the siren. I kinda hope that they cut out soon; it's sort of putting me on edge, you know?"

Boy, this bloke was really optimistic, wasn't he? Sid raised his eyebrows almost incredulously. Life wasn't easy. Life was shit, every minute of it. If it wasn't one thing, it was another and the only time Sid was ever really happy was when he was sleeping or wanking and that was the sad truth of it. Everyone treated him like shit or worse and those who didn't, didn't because they were dead. Far be it for Sid, though, to rain on the guy's parade. So he shrugged and decided to play along. "Probably, yeah," he agreed. "If all it takes is a matter of time after making a wish, then, it's really only a waiting game until we're all on a beach somewhere with loads of fit girls and spliff," he said with a small smirk. Or just me and the loads of girls, actually, but...

The sentiment that it was no fun if you couldn't share was one that Sid knew very well, only he attached the thought to drugs and alcohol more than candy, really. Still, it meant the same thing and Sid understood, so he grinned and nodded as such. "Yeah, dunno how much more I can take myself, mate," he agreed in reference to the sodding alarms. "Might go back up to the petrol station and see if wrapping my coat around my head will block it out," he said, only half joking.
