Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:day 1: reboot, location: oak grove court, nymphadora tonks, rose tyler

Who: Tonks and Rose
Where: Oak Grove
When: Day One, 11-ish AM
What: Reunited!
Rating: PG-ish

After having made her way out of the forest, Tonks had been surprised to find herself in a neighbourhood. And also surprised to find it not as ramshackle as the place had been before. She stared at everything with a healthy mixture of curiosity and wariness. What the hell did the Management have planned this time? And they realised that she had other pressing matters back at home, didn't they? Ugh. Of course they did.

Tonks frowned then. She hadn't actually lost any time between the first time around here and her own world. The witch felt that, between the two worlds, actual relaxation was a long-distant memory. All the same, good things came out of even the shittiest of situations. Friends, for one. The Order, who were her family. The people she had met here.

The people she met! Duh, Nymphadora. With that thought, she had pulled out the journal and got to scribbling. Sure enough..there were names -- handwriting-- that she recognised. And one of them was around in one of these houses! Rose Tyler was here as well. She was torn between being happy that there were familiar people (who remembered her as well) and upset that they were here. Nobody should have to go through this.

After a few notes back and forth, Tonks peeked around the area again. For some odd reason, the first thing that popped into Tonks' head was that Peaches and Herb song. "Reunited and it feels so good.." Sang a bit to herself. Then she looked at her feet (after having gotten up and stumbled a little in the process) and took a breath.

"C'mon, feet. Let's find Rose Tyler." Brief bob of her head given in a nod and she took off down the street. It took a bit, quite frankly, but soon she came upon a house where she thought she saw someone. Time had made her a little more leary, and the fact that she was sans wand (again) made her more so, explaining why she stared from a distance for a moment. But after that momentary study, she smiled to herself and headed up the path. "You! You are a sight for sore eyes!"

Rose didn't intend on straying too far from the house she'd found herself in. Before, she'd slept on the floor of a museum squished in with the Doctor and a teenaged werewolf. Not long after that, she'd slept, again on the floor, of a gymnasium, with people who were mostly strangers. If Brigette wanted to go off exploring, fine with her, but Rose was keeping the house until she was moved.

So when Tonks had said she was, quite literally, in the neighborhood, she stepped outside and only sat on the front porch. She knew these people too well to know they wouldn't do whatever it took to survive. And she'd do the same. Including keeping hold of her relatively comfortable, if not exactly clean, shelter.

But then the white haired witch (she remembered her friend was a witch...oh yeah, things were coming back in a somewhat insane rush) appeared, and Rose figured a few steps wouldn't hurt. "Princess wizard Dora," she teased, then rushed up the path to meet Tonks in a tight hug. "Oh, I shouldn't be happy to see you, but I am."

"I'm the same bloody way, Dreamweaver Rose." It was the same rush seeing Rose as it was seeing any part of the Order. So when the blonde woman hugged Tonks, she was hugging back tightly. Just to be sure she was real. Pulling away, she grinned a little in a lopsided manner and then took a look around. And peeked at the house.

"They've redecorated. What do you make of it?" There were a plethora of questions in Tonks' head, but that was the one that spilt out first. "And how are you? Other than peeved off about being back?" That was second. The next rush of questions could wait. At least a little bit.

Letting go of Tonks was a lot to ask, considering, but Rose released her friend, and stepped back, eyeing the house. "It's so...random. Like, I don't remember any houses last time. Well, I think there was one everyone was claiming was haunted? But it was huge, it was nothing like this one." And now that she was paying attention to the outside, she noticed plenty of other houses, too. A right proper neighborhood. All it needed to look normal was a few coats of paint, some paving, and a few little kids playing ball. Not that she wanted anything resembling children there, even if Sarah Jane had mentioned her own. That was already too many.

"It's been a few months for me," she admitted, "but I know people who are saying it's been years, or they've never even been here. And some of them may not have, I don't know everyone, but..." She shook her head. "This was definitely one of the last things I needed right now. I thought I'd dreamed the whole thing, to be honest. And then it faded and..."

"I don't remember any either. Which is why I'm wondering what they have up their sleeves." After having pulled away, Tonks surveyed the area as well. "Reminds me of some show on a telly or something, yanno?"

She nodded quite a bit at the thinking that it had been a dream. "I thought so too, specially after.." She paused then, "Tried to bring it up with Remus once. He'd forgotten about it though. Reckon that this sorta thing happening when you're sixteen gets trumped by all the rest of what happened to him. Made into a dream." A shrug was given and she peered over at Rose again. ..Definitely one of the last things.. Tonks could definitely relate to that. "What was going on with you beforehand?"

"Guess it's too much to hope they just want us to have semi-comfortable lodging this time, huh?" Rose asked with a wry smile. Of course they didn't. It was the mostly-anonymous 'Management' and their cruel ways. "Though I suppose if that was true, they'd have added a big comfy bed and piles of pillows and so on."

Remus. The thought of her young friend...probably in his thirties or so by that time but still young in her mind, should have made her smile. Instead, she winced slightly. Hopefully subtle enough that Tonks would miss it, but it was still hard to come to terms with what might have happened. In her heart, she knew Remus would never have hurt her on purpose. Neither would the redheaded man. But it had still been terrifying, and now that she'd met a werewolf in her 'real life', too... Stupid complicated timey wimey things.

"Course he forgot about it. Same as we all tried to. And I guess if it'd been twenty years instead of a few months, I might have, too." What was going on? Heh. "Well... I guess it's no secret I'm not a huge fan of Remy. He kept reminding me that the time I spent traveling with the Doctor was going to end, and sure, I knew it, but..." No, she was not going to cry again. They'd figure a way around it. It couldn't possibly be the end for them. Not yet. It was just too soon. "Anyway. Bound to happen sooner or later, I guess," she finished with a forcefully cheery smile. "How about you? You guys were fighting something, weren't you? How'd that go?"

"Right? Little hols from our actual lives?" The wry smile was returned before she chuckled a bit. "That would be only too keen, eh?" And definitely not in line with what they knew about the Management. "A comfy bed and a lot of pillows. That sounds so nice. Can't you be in charge of decoration here, then?" Asked with a laugh.

The wince went unnoticed, mostly because she was looking around the area again and trying to figure out where they might be in relation to the rest of the town that she remembered. But she looked back and tilted a wry smile. "Me too, I suppose." About forgetting. But then Tonks' eyebrows furrowed thoughtfully. Leaning over, she bumped shoulders lightly with the blonde woman. "Remy just likes pushing people's buttons, then. Takes attention away from trying to suss him out."

The mention of fighting had Tonks do her own wincing. "It's still happening. Going..difficult." Bah. Who wanted to hear about that stuff? Tonks waved it off with a hand and linked arms with Rose. "Tell me more about traveling with the Spaceman and I'll share the better parts of being magical with you." That sounded much better!

"They could've at least picked a tropical beach getaway," Rose joked, though the laughter wasn't really there, hard as she tried. And she knew she'd never be in charge of decorating the place because she'd never be able to do this to people. Take them away from their lives and throw them into the lovely pits of torture. Good times all around.

Rose gave a tiny smile at Tonks' shoulder bump and just shrugged. How could she explain how the stupid wannabe French guy had gotten under her skin? The way it had only worked because, in her heart, Rose knew he'd only been telling the truth? Stupid git.

So she focused on the warmth of her friend's arm through her own and gave a brave giggle, attempting the schoolgirl sound. She was only a few months older than she'd been the first time around, but she felt at least a good ten years instead. "Fair enough," she agreed, pushing her hair out of her still red eyes with her free hand. "We could've used your magic a time or two, you know. Lovely death-threat times. You know, I actually got my face sucked off? Like, literally, not there anymore. Think it scared your poor Spaceman a bit." Only she knew him well enough to know that along with being scared, it'd also pissed him off and good.
