When: Day 21 - Early morning, 6:34am.
Rating: PG-13?

He wasn't sure what made him wake up. Granted, he'd always been a bit of a light sleeper, and this place did have him on edge. Maybe it was the presence of so many innocents near him and those annoying instincts of his were kicking in. He decided to stay in the gym again that night, partly because there was at least something close to beds there as opposed to the other buildings.

One hand pushed his hair out of his eyes as Chris sat up, blinking away sleep as he looked around. It was still fairly dark, which he thought was kind of strange, but then, the weather in this place didn't seem to follow any rules of logic. Still, he glanced at the watch that was still annoyingly on his wrist to check the time to see if the sun should be up yet. His stomach rumbled but he ignored it as he stretched, looking around to see if there was anything new, if there was someone around that had caused him to wake. Then his eyes caught on something shiny on one of the nearby clinic tables. No, it couldn't be. He rubbed at his eyes and stood up to get a better look from where he was.

...was that a machete?

"Um, guys?" The whitelighter was instantly looking around for danger and he stepped over to the nearest cot to shake the shoulder of the person occupying it, eyes going back to the weapon. Hadn't he heard someone say they had nothing to defend themselves with? "Guys, I think we need to get up. I've got a bad feeling..."

Normally getting wounded wasn't something that would bother him, but seeing as Leo was conspicuously absent from this screwed up place, Chris knew he would have to be careful. Since he was only half whitelighter he could be injured just as easily as any other mortal, and it wasn't something he liked being reminded of. "It's a big ass knife and it's here for a reason." Because that was usually how it worked where he was from. Fate and destiny and all that crap.

He thought about letting it go for the moment and glanced at his watch again, frowning. "The sun really should be up by now." Chris sighed as he walked around McCoy and over toward the gym door so he could have a look outside. Maybe it was just really overcast and that was why it seemed so dark. Maybe. As he walked he noticed a few baseball bats leaned up against one of the walls and he knew those hadn't been there before because he and Rose had spent a good bit of the previous afternoon sitting over there talking. "Okay, what's your theory for a machete AND wooden bats? They want us to go hack into some trees? Start a game of baseball?"

He talked over his shoulder, not really trying to keep it down in case any of the others were still fairly asleep. As far as he was concerned everyone needed to be up after all. Once at the door Chris opened it without hesitation, hoping the birds were at least gone and if they weren't confident he could orb out of the way, and with a hand on the door frame he leaned out to take a look around.
