What: Vampires are not the types you send looking for medicine.
Where: The gym, clinic area.
When: Day 20 - Early Evening, around 6pm.
Rating: PG-13.
Status: Complete.

She couldn't believe she was doing this. It wasn't her fault Gambit had gotten sick. If he was sick he was that way before he came to her, all cut up and bleeding and practically begging to be a snack. And she certainly hadn't tasted any sickness... although, she was admittedly more distracted by the rather potent kick his blood had to it. That boy may have been mortal but he wasn't human, not in the traditional sense. Human blood didn't taste like that. Even now she could feel the heat flowing through her veins.

So by her count it wasn't her fault he was sick, but she certainly didn't want him to become fatally ill either. After all, if she wanted him dead she would have taken care of that this morning. She didn't particularly care for the note either -- great, how many more people were going to find out what she was? -- but at least it wasn't as gruff and demanding as it could have been.

As she had no way of knowing if any of the tunnels might take her to the gym, Selene reluctantly returned to the church. She did take the opportunity though to replace the chest atop the door. A quick check of her map in the dying light had her groaning. The gym was clear across town. Of course it was. Rolling her eyes, the vampire threw open the door and paid the birds no mind as she sprinted her way to the gym. She arrived no worse for wear, though once she stopped so she could open the door a few birds tried to attack her. A swat of her arm sent them in the opposite direction and she ducked inside, pulling the door shut as a few more thudded against it. And now, the hard part.

Hair was pushed out of her face as she strode over to the area that clearly served as the clinic, eyes skimming the area though she didn't know a thing about medicine. "Alright. Who's a doctor?" she snapped, tone a little harsh. She wanted to get this over with. And never mind those few smears of blood on her coat and bodysuit, it wasn't her blood.

Could you fault this southern styled gentleman for being a bit annoyed? He'd been confronted with a little vulcan yesterday, eaten by birds today, and now he was sitting on a rather uncomfortable cot just festering. He was thinking about how he reeally wanted to be back in his damned quarters with his damned book and his damned sick bay. He wanted to go play some sort of prank on Nurse Chapel and get back to his old life again. Instead, he was now all pecked up with gashes and cuts. Amazingly, the Star Fleet Tunic was largely unharmed. Small favors and all that.

When a woman came in, looking a bit on the lost side of thing and asking for a doctor his brow quirked. "You don't look like they got you too badly," he gruffly mumbled. "Not much a doctor can do for you aside from give you some antiseptic." He pointed at the shelf of medical goodies. There was some wipes and things in there, he was sure.

Sorry, lazy ornery Bones on the job today. Rawr.

As she was trying her best to ignore any scents of blood -- just because she had fed didn't mean the vampire couldn't have more, this place was practically starving her, after all -- it was the voice rather than the scent of him that made Selene look over. Thankfully her eyes were back to their 'natural' brown and the feeding had given her skin the barest touch of color so she didn't look quite as out of place as she could. Well, ignoring the leather and vinyl and the corset.

"It's not for me." She lightly rolled her eyes, as if it should have been obvious she wasn't in need of medical attention. "I'm looking for antibiotics for a friend." There was the slightest pause before 'friend', as if she wasn't quite sure what to call Gambit. She supposed friend and acquaintance could be interchangeable.

Selene had spoke as she walked over, a few steps putting her closer to the cot. She did her best to ignore the scent of blood as she looked him over with a rather critical eye and then arched a brow. "You look like hell." But not as bad as Gambit had. "Can you help me, or not?"

"It's not for me," she said, and the doctor just sort of rolled his eyes in response. When she said she was looking for antibiotics the physician canted his head a little. "What's wrong with 'em?" He was pushing up to stand, closing a bit of that gap.

"It's those damned birds," he looked skeptically at the doors behind them and then back again. "How do you know this friend of yours needs antibiotics? Or are you a doctor?" He looked the woman over. It wasn't so much a critical look as an appraising one. Bones knew one thing: never judge a book by it's cover. So, he tried to remain impartial.

Doctors could wear leather and vinyl and corsets. Right.

She opened her mouth, closed it, and just kind of grumbled. Hell, she didn't know what was wrong with Gambit, other than he was suffering the effects of losing a pint or two. Well. Given how lightheaded he had been for a short while after, perhaps it was closer to three. After all, the vampire had no way of knowing how much he had lost from the stupid birds, nor was it the sort of thing she thought to ask beforehand. So she didn't know what was wrong with Gambit exactly, but she could guess.

"I don't know. I was just told he was pretty sick and needed antibiotics before it got worse." Or maybe she'd just go with honesty.

She pressed her lips together a moment as she thought, trying to recall if she had actually noticed any signs of sickness. And Selene did notice the look he was giving her, but didn't mind it. She was kind of used to it and after the morning's experience with Gambit, prior to him going all faint on her, the vampire was rather content with any male attention. "He was pretty well cut up by the birds, so I know he's suffered some blood loss. But I think he was out in that rain we had... whatever day it was, for awhile." Did it show that she was somewhat clueless? Sorry doc.

Definitely not in the medical field.

"I'm a doctor, not a psychic. There's all sorts of antibiotics. Generally it's a good idea to use the right kind to treat something," he looked away, trying to check his bad mood. "Sorry, Miss...?" He didn't know her name and didn't really wait to receive one until continuing. "This place seems to do it's best to bring the worst out. I'm Leonard, Leonard McCoy," he offered an easy, slow smile of an introduction and an apology rolled into one.

"Sounds like your friend needs to get a check up," was really all he could think to say on the subject.

Selene gave a bit of a glare at his snapping, hands lightly going to her hips... which really only served to remind her that her holsters were empty. Ugh, she wanted her guns back. She didn't even care if they were loaded at this point. But before she had a chance to snap back at him he was shifting his mood and apologizing. Huh. His smile even felt genuine, as opposed to the one she'd gotten from Gambit upon arriving which was. Well. A bit suggestive. But she was getting the feeling that was kind of his default. Gambit, right. That was why she was here.

"Selene, and it's alright. I'm usually rather quick to snap myself." She offered a smile in return, closed-mouthed though, just in case her fangs were showing a bit more than usual. At his comment about a check up she sighed, frowning a little. "I don't think he's really in any condition to get to one of you doctors --" as she figured it was pretty safe to assume he was one, "-- so I was sent to fetch medicine." By whom she assumed was one of Gambit's friends. And wow, she really didn't know much of anything about this situation. That didn't settle well with her. Nor did it that she was running errands, essentially. Her frown deepened. "I really have no idea what's wrong with him. He wasn't exactly fine when I saw him, but I didn't think he was sick." Not that she would know what to look for to tell if someone was sick.

So, she was glaring; McCoy was used to that, he'd had a wife after all. In fact, his wife used to put her hands on her hips, too right when she thought he was being particularly difficult. You women, all the same, weren't you?

"Well, I can't say I'm in anybody is in much of a condition to get to him, especially with those birds out there," he replied shaking hsi head a little. "I've seen some impossible things; but dive bombing birds? Not something I'd think was as painful as it turned out to be." He was rolling his eyes, ignoring the pain in the slice above his left eyebrow as he did so.

"I doubt he's caught anything that would kill him overnight; or else we'd all be sick with it." Let's face it, in most cases the most fatal of diseases were also the most communicative. Judging by the fact there hadn't been a massive outcry for medical care lead the good doctor to assume that this friend probably just had the sniffles.

"Wasn't fine, but you didn't think he was sick?" That seemed like an odd way to think of things, so the physician sort of repeated her odd sounding statement right back to her. Did that make sense to you, Selene?

"Sometimes the small things can be the most painful." she almost absently remarked. They were usually the most annoying, at least.

His phrasing made her stiffen for the briefest of moments. Oh god, she hadn't accidentally turned him, had she? No... no, that couldn't be. She hadn't taken enough for that, nor had she shared so much as a drop of her own blood. Really, she wasn't so sure he could be turned, since he wasn't a normal sort of human. But it wasn't something she wanted to test. "I suppose that's true..." This doctor would certainly know better than she would. When her words were parroted back to her she had to bite back a sigh. She couldn't very well say Gambit had been lightheaded and weak because she drank his blood. Blood... hm. Her gaze briefly went to that cut she could see above McCoy's brow; it might not have been bleeding but it wouldn't take much. Selene closed her eyes a moment and mentally shook herself. Focus. "I haven't exactly dealt with a lot of sick people over my lifetime so I'm not really quick to classify people as such. And since the birds seemed to have pecked him apart rather well I assumed that was the cause for his weakness." There, truth! Even if it wasn't the whole truth, but close enough. This whole situation was really starting to frustrate her.

"You have that right," Bones responded, putting his hands on his hips.

"Well, if it's just pecking there really isn't much I can do to help. Just get the wounds cleaned up so they don't get infected. Though, Being gouged a bit shouldn't really make a person all that weak, at least not for long." Hazel eyes looked over across the gym. There were plenty of people in here who'd been pecked today, and most of them seemed not so much worse for wear; not that he'd point that out to Selene or anything.

"Anything else I can help you with?" His brow rose and fell with the question. She looked fine, and since he'd already said he was a physician, she probably wouldn't have too much further use for him.

The vampire sighed and tried her best not to seem too annoyed. This whole situation was making her frustrated and she just wanted it over with. "Yes, well, trust me, he's lost a fair bit of blood so it's no surprise that he's weak." And she again mentally chastised herself for not having the presence of mind to take into account bloodloss from the birds' wounds. "Look, just show me where the antibiotics are and I'll be out of your way." Because surely there couldn't be that big a difference between one pill and the next, was there?

Selene was already turning away, walking over to where he had gestured in the first place, and she made a brief face as she glanced over things. How horrible, to have to worry about sickness all the time. She paused to pull out her journal, jotting a quick note to whomever it was that had written her, and she frowned at the reply she got back. "Oh, what the hell... fluid in his lungs?" she muttered to herself, brow furrowed deeply in confusion. All this medical nonsense was completely over her head. One of those in her coven that ran the experiments on the lycans they captured and killed, they'd know what these people were talking about.

"How'd he manage to do that?" Well, now you had him interested. "What'd they do, scratch up every inch of him?" Then she was already turning away, headed in the direction of the clinic's medical supplies.

There were bandages and bottles strewn all about. The bottles were labeled quite nicely; though, it was unlikely that any of the names would mean anything to Selene. Bones just crossed his arms. "You can't be serious." He leaned against the would-be exam table between them, propping himself up on his elbows. Then he heard her mutter something that sounded conspicuously like 'fluid in his lungs' which made the doctor's brow raise. "Fluid in his lungs?" He asked, sounding concerned. "That friend of yours?"

"Pretty much, actually. Looked more like a wild beast got to him than a bunch of birds." she absently replied. There wasn't a chance in hell she was going to mention biting Gambit and drinking his blood. Far too many people in this place knew what she was already.

Brown eyes looked up from the pages when she was questioned, not having realized she spoke loud enough to be heard. "Apparently. His friend says he's got..." Selene paused to glance down at the words again, searching her mind for the right pronunciation. "Pneumonia. Isn't that like the flu or something?" If she only knew how obvious she was making it that this was an area she knew next to nothing about.

Lips pursed and brow rose and the physician was trying to determine what to make of that statement. "Can't say I've heard of too many 'wild beast' attacks." This woman felt too prickly to be truthful, and that left Bones uncomfortable. It left him to wonder why she wouldn't be straight about something. He didn't like when people weren't quite up front - perhaps it had something to do with years of being a doctor and having people either cover up symptoms or make them out to be worse than they were- all it amounted to was more work for him as he tried to figure things out.

"Pneumonia? He's seen a doctor then?" Last thing Bones wanted to hear was a common cold being called pneumonia. "It's not the flu. It can start at the flu; it's more a severe chest infection where liquid drains into the lungs causing difficulty breathing."

Selene shrugged, looking confused yet irritated about the whole situation. "I've no idea, there's so many people around this place calling themselves doctors. Perhaps there's one staying at the museum, that was the last place I saw him." Well, under the museum, but that really wasn't important. She assumed that was where Gambit still was. God, she hoped he was still there. She really didn't feel like running all over this place avoiding birds just to take him some medicine.

As he explained what it was her brow furrowed, and she again thought back to earlier in the day when she had been with Gambit. "Sounds painful." She absently remembered the boy rubbing at his chest a few times, but she hadn't particularly thought anything of it. After all, the wounds from the birds were everywhere, surely they had to itch or otherwise be uncomfortable.
