Entry tags:!shelved, connor temple, day 20, location: clock tower, nymphadora tonks

Who: Any of the former kids
What: Waking up as an adult again
Where: Clock Tower
When: Day 20, Early morning
Rating: PG

Tonks woke up, stretching out and wiggling her feet. That was funny. She usually didn't take off her boots around here to go to sleep. Too many thoughts of needing to wake up and run (to help or away) to cause her to let her guard down by being found only be-socked. Eyes remained luxuriously closed for another moment or two as she thought on her dream. It was the strangest thing, dreaming about being a kid here. And with other people as kids too? Very odd. But it was honestly a little..invigorating? Not the right word, but Tonks smiled to herself anyway. If six-year-old her could handle being here then so could twenty two-year-old her!

With that thought, she laughed a little and flipped around, staring at the ceiling of the gymnasium in a contemplative sort of way. Funny, the gym ceiling didn't look like that before..

Wait a minute. She wasn't in the gym anymore. And sat up straight, looking around to figure out where the hell she was now.

Why wouldn't they accept them? Hell, in Connor's world, people wouldn't accept a huge group of midgets running a bank, let alone a goblin! "I kind of feel like I do when I talk to Chris," Connor admitted with a crooked grin. "Always asking, 'you mean this is real' or 'do those really exist?' You probably couldn't even grasp how different our worlds are when it all comes down to it."

Goblins. And underground bank vaults. "Guessing they're not guarding pounds and schillings and all," he volunteered. Maybe they did! Or maybe wizards had switched to the Euro and he was just being a presumptuous dirtbag. Yeah, that was it! Or maybe he was just going to shut up and listen to what she had to say. The cryptozoologist in him found this fascinating!

"My dad's side of the family are Muggles," Tonks explained with a grin. "So I know a bit of stuff, at any rate. Like what the telly is and cars are how you get around, and that you have the pound and schilling for money. We have the knut, sickle, and galleon. And our Minister of Magic is rather like your Prime Minister!" It was always fun comparing the two worlds. Tonks often found that they weren't so unalike.

"We only have three schools though-- Durmstrang in Russia, Beaubatons in France and Hogwarts, which is where I went." She grinned then and lifted her eyebrows, "And our photos move." That was always the best part, so she thought.

Connor's nose wrinkled slightly. "Not sure I'd like pictures moving. What if you got caught doing something...really unseemly. And trust me, I don't photograph well, photograph Connor would probably do something obnoxious just because he could." Shaking his head, he still grinned a little wider. And why not? This was so bloody cool!

"What if you were from, like..." He racked his brain, thinking of Europe's geography. Ah, geography. One of those subjects he probably should've paid better attention to. "Poland. Where would you go then, I wonder?" A thought occurred to him and he gasped audibly. "They do have wizards in Poland, don't they?"

Tonks stared for a moment and then burst into laughter. "Don't get caught doing unseemly things, then." That was the best advice. She snorted in amusement at the thought of Connor in a wizarding photo. "You'd likely be running round, making faces an' all, hm?" As if Tonks didn't normally do the same sort of thing.

When the realisation hit Connor that wizards and witches were everywhere, she grinned broadly and nodded. "They do. Reckon that Durmstrang would be the most logical, location-wise..but I dunno how it really works out!" She thought about the students. Mostly from the United Kingdom, with a handful from Italy or Spain..

"What about you then? What fantastic things do you get to see?" He was an adventurous bloke, Tonks noted. And so it was safe to assume that he found that adventure.

"Bunny ears," Connor confirmed, making the little bunny eared hand gesture before letting the rest of the ideas sink in. When they'd been kids, Chris had mentioned some sort of magic school. But Dora--er, Tonks--had said she had to be older to go. And he was just happy to go to his primary school! This was so weird.

First reaction to her question? Lie. Lie like he usually did. He was just a student, studying archaeology and paleontology at university. On weekends, he liked gaming, World of Warcraft in the evenings and the occasional Lord of the Rings marathon with his mates.

However, as wild and interesting as her story had been? Well, Connor had been the exaggerating type before he'd ever met witches. Now, he kind of felt like he had to. "Raptors," he said simply, as if everyone did it. "Saber-toothed cats. Faced a mammoth, once. Not the ice age wooly variety, the warm weather sort." In completely, typically Connor fashion, he attempted to sound smug. As if he were so much cooler for it than he actually was. You know, despite still recovering from a SIMS 2 addiction.

Now it was the witch's turn to be impressed and in awe. "You do not. Real dinosaurs! And saber-toothed cats! We've got magic, but those animals are still good and gone!" How cool was that? Now the imagination that had been prominent as a child was running away with her. "Could you imagine? Learning to ride pterodactyls rather than brooms..Quidditch on their back! How ace would that have been? And then training them to swoop up the Dark Wizard you were chasing.." Dark eyes were alight with the possibilities.

"Little triceratopses running round and the whole bit? That's completely ace." But then she stopped and frown. "It is ace, right? Not like that movie with the park and the wild raptors and t-rex'es? T-ri?" What was the plural of Tyrannosaurus Rex?

"Well, haven't come across any tyrannosaurus rexes yet." That was how you pluralized it. Though T-rex-ing it was just going to be awkward. "Or triceratopses. Did have a Gorgonopsid, though. Very first creature we ever ran into. Huge, it was, but not too scary." Sort of. Except the part where he'd sort of wanted to bar the doors and never let anyone in again ever. Well, until he decided to run off and do it again, that was. "No stegosauruses, either," he added with a laugh, thinking of Steggy.

"It'd be hard as hell to tame them, though, I bet," he added, though a flicker of a smile crossed his face. "Though I do live with a tame one. The little bloke's got a bit of a fancy for my best mate, I think." And so did Connor, but that was besides the point. "He's a sweetie."
