Entry tags:!shelved, connor temple, day 20, location: clock tower, nymphadora tonks

Who: Any of the former kids
What: Waking up as an adult again
Where: Clock Tower
When: Day 20, Early morning
Rating: PG

Tonks woke up, stretching out and wiggling her feet. That was funny. She usually didn't take off her boots around here to go to sleep. Too many thoughts of needing to wake up and run (to help or away) to cause her to let her guard down by being found only be-socked. Eyes remained luxuriously closed for another moment or two as she thought on her dream. It was the strangest thing, dreaming about being a kid here. And with other people as kids too? Very odd. But it was honestly a little..invigorating? Not the right word, but Tonks smiled to herself anyway. If six-year-old her could handle being here then so could twenty two-year-old her!

With that thought, she laughed a little and flipped around, staring at the ceiling of the gymnasium in a contemplative sort of way. Funny, the gym ceiling didn't look like that before..

Wait a minute. She wasn't in the gym anymore. And sat up straight, looking around to figure out where the hell she was now.

Connor knew the place was crazy and a little suspicous, but he didn't think of it being tapped. Of course, he also hadn't discovered that the powers that be read every word they wrote, either, including private thoughts and even things scratched out. Hmm.

So instead of dwelling on that, he rushed over to the door and gave Dora--no, Tonks--a mock bow. "Milady, let me. There could be danger lurking around every corner, after all." Ha. He just thought he was joking around. That was proven wrong when he pulled the door open and was presented almost immediately with a huge black bird flying at him. Not just towards him, at him!

"Oh, hell..." he blurted, slamming the door. And the fact that the bird hadn't just been on a boring, every day course was proven by the incredibly loud 'thud' the bird made on crashing into the now closed door. "Erm. Um. Ladies first, cause I'm not going back out there!" Not without some dynamite and maybe a golf club. And a wooden stake? "I think they're bats," he said simply, staring at the door instead of the pretty girl whose lap he'd all but woken up in.

Tonks wouldn't put it past them at all. Which is why, even though she was chuckling, the witch gave a quick glance around for any telltale wires. Making sure she had her journal and wand still, Tonks was relieved to find them both in her back pocket. And was heading to the opening door.

She stopped short when Connor slammed the door. And gave him a funny look. "Scared of an animal, Connor?" Teased as she tried the door as well. The bird that had slammed into the door was dazed, but not enough to not try and get through the door. Beak snapped and even got her blue jeans. "What the bloody--" She was shaking it off, or trying to, and managed to kick it with her boot. But while Tonks was trying to do this, she noticed that other birds were swooping to make the dive.

"Close the door!" Pulling away quickly from the entrance, she slammed the door shut a second time. "What the hell was that? The birds have gone insane!"

Connor leaped forward to help her to push the door shut, knowing if those birds got in, they were pretty much doomed. And their fellow sleepyheads probably wouldn't have time to get to safety. "No idea. Come on." He took her sleeve and gave a small tug, nodding towards the stairs to the top of...wherever. All he knew was they had to figure out where they were, if and how they could get out, and why, exactly, that bird had decided Tonks would make a lovely snack. Sure, she was pretty, but tasty?

The tips of Connor's ears turned pink at that thought, but he pushed his hat lower on his head to hide them. It was a tower, it seemed, and he went up a number of stairs and stopped when he thought he was far enough away from their fellow castaways to talk without disturbing anyone. "I assume this thing works as adults?" he asked, pulling his journal out of his own back pocket. Convenient sort of thing, even if he did turn nearly purple when he saw his childish handwriting all over several pages. Including that of many adults' journals. "Ah. Blood-thirsty, man-eating birds. Well. Can't say I've never dealt with those."

Tonks was still staring at the door in some mixture of...whatever it was when one was both incredulous and expectant of such weird shit. "I'd say that I don't believe this, which I don't..but it's expected at the same time?" Oddly enough. But then she was pulled out of her thoughts and had her sleeve tugged on. "So much for exploring, yeah?" Grump!

"It does. Quite informative, and something to pass the time." Until the birds went away, she supposed. "Your picture of the stegosaurus is tops by the by." Added with a cheeky grin. Tonks pulled hers out as well and gestured to the stairs for them to sit. "Maybe you can draw another picture."

She flipped open her journal, catching up on bits and pieces of conversations and scribbling out her own thoughts. Then looked up, "So what is it you were doin' when you got snatched?" Fun conversation and a journal. It was sort of like a stakeout.

"We'll explore our lovely new hideout," he said simply, before plopping down on the stairs and leaning with his legs against the wall. Not the most comfortable spot in the world, but he'd sat in worse positions. All night Playstation marathons tended to lend themselves to uncomfortable situations.

Connor rolled his eyes in playful annoyance at her cheek. "Oh, brill, thanks. If only we could find some crayons for Andy. But then, he'd only like it if it were a turtle. Ought to draw that, that would make for some entertainment." Things so didn't look good, not from the words written all through the journal. They were definitely trapped. Not really his idea of a fun time. Of course, there'd been a time when he wouldn't have thought playing with a bunch of six year-olds when he was physically twenty-three was fun, either, but in his situation, one took what they could get.

What had he been doing? Well, if that wasn't a bit of a downer, nothing was. He tried to smile. "A uh... A friend of mine had just...passed." Been murdered, more like. In Connor's arms, no less. But may as well not make the morbid discussion even more morbid. "It was probably when I was walking away from my friends...that's the last thing I remember." Abby had tried her damnedest to comfort him, but he was a bit beyond it at that point. He'd held her while she'd cried, then turned away to leave. He'd needed some time for him. And then... "And now, what do you know? I'm here. You?" Her story had to be at least a bit better.

She was reading the journals, eyebrows drawn downward at something, and then was scribbling furiously on the blank page waiting just for her. Tonks had gotten flustered, lost in her own world and stuck where she couldn't help. But the conversation drew her back out. "Mm. Well, could draw the bloke who sounds like your Ninja Turtle." Pointed to an entry with a wry smile. She set down her pen though, closed within the pages, and listened.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Good going, Nymphadora. Bringing up downer stuff. She hadn't even realised that her own story was a bit of a downer as well. Not until he asked her what she had been doing. A frown tugged at her mouth, and the witch shrugged. "I was..in the middle of a battle, actually. There's a war of sorts going on where I'm from and I'd cast a hex..and that's all I remember too." Definitely downer sorts of stories. Then she blinked, realising that he was the first one that she had told she was even in a war. Tonks had been keeping it under wraps ever since Remus had gotten here. Before, even.

"You're the first person I've told that to."
