Entry tags:!complete, chris halliwell, day 20, location: gym, rose tyler

Who: Chris Halliwell and Rose Tyler.
What: Showing off his powers, just a little.
Where: The gym.
When: Day 20 - Shortly after noon.
Rating: PG.
Status: Complete.

As soon as he found out about the birds Chris had thought about orbing to the clock tower to make sure Connor was indeed alright. He didn't know exactly where the clock tower was but he could pick up on the other man's presence and that was enough of an indicator for him. It wouldn't do good to not look after his unofficial charge, now would it? But Connor insisted he was fine for now, and Chris really didn't want anyone to know about any of his powers that didn't have to. His friend knew and Remy knew about the teleporting, unfortunately, but that was pretty much the extent of it.

Then the pretty girl that had taken care of the lot of them the day before sounded like she was a little concerned to be staying in the gym and his pesky whitelighter instincts kicked in. Surely it wouldn't be that bad if one more person found out about one of his abilities. Or at least not any worse than having it clear as day to read in his journal that he was a witch.

So Chris had slunk off to a corner of the museum where no one could see him, journal tucked in his back pocket as he orbed himself from there to the gym. It took the span of fifteen, maybe twenty seconds for him to disappear from the museum and reappear at his new destination with the show of little white lights that always accompanied orbing. Since he wasn't sure exactly where she was at he had chosen to orb to about the center of the gym floor, and once he was solid one hand brushed his hair out of his eyes as they sought Rose out. Belatedly Chris hoped there weren't too many other people around.

The sight of her smile made his brighten a little, and he merely hooked his thumb in his pocket when he let his hand drop back down. Her story didn't really sound all that outlandish as it might to some, regardless of where or when it happened. And the important part was that it had ended well. How many messes had he been in where that wasn't the case, or the happy ending came with a price? How many innocents had he lost despite his best efforts because the world had become so dangerous and dark? Chris could understand hanging on to happiness over something that went well for a change. Better happiness than other emotions, as he tended to do.

"Children really are the most innocent. I think that's what makes it worse when anything happens to them, or when they're at risk. But it also makes it all the more special when they do end up alright." His gaze dropped for a moment, thinking of his brother. Thinking of himself. "And I dunno, some kids remember a lot. Guess it's good the lot of us weren't four yesterday." Chris added with a light chuckle as he raised his back to look at her. Her words made him wonder just what kind of things she had seen. Maybe her life wasn't so different from his own, merely with different creatures and beings. She dealt with aliens and space travel, he dealt with demons and dwarves and a spot of time travel.
