Who: Chris Halliwell and anyone at the museum.
What: Waking up to find things back to how they were.
Where: Museum lobby.
When: Day 20 - 8am.
Rating: PG.
Status: Active.

As Chris woke up for what was the third time in as many days in a place that wasn't where he had last closed his eyes he groaned, slowly picking himself up from the floor to a sitting position. His head ached, but he wasn't sure if it was from the floor or whatever he was knocked out with or simply stress. Had he just had a ridiculously strange dream or had the previous day really happened? Because that, Chris was pretty sure, was not what Freud had in mind when he wrote about people regressing to their childhood.

Rubbing a hand over his face, Chris looked around, brows furrowing as he didn't recognize the place he found himself in, or the other people nearby. Although... the blonde woman kinda looked familiar in a weird way. Maybe he'd seen someone like her in his dream. Chris got to his feet, still looking around, and okay he definitely recognized the guy in the coat who had stopped to bitch at him and Connor -- well, mostly Connor -- about messing with time. Connor... shit. His new friend and unofficial charge was nowhere to be seen, and that caused a surge of worry in the whitelighter.

He quietly picked his way over to the counter in the lobby as he pulled out his journal, ready to write and see if Connor responded before he tried to look for the other man. As he sat it down and started flipping through the pages his eyes grew wide as he realized the dream-memories floating around his head didn't come from a dream. But how was that even... no, that was a stupid question. There were all kinds of ways to make such a thing possible. Spells, potions... probably some scientific type methods too, perhaps from one of these other people's worlds. Chris winced as he skimmed his own words. Outing himself as a witch, that was just great. He was brilliant, really. Though it was a small relief to know there was another witch around. Not everyone in this prison was human, that was for sure.

After a quick scribble of words he turned around, debating with himself. So long as Connor was still in this place he could sense for him and orb to his location, but what about these people? Condescending guy in the coat with the nifty sneakers included. Sighing heavily, Chris walked back over to the others, nudging lightly the first one he came to. "Hey, wake up. We're not kids anymore, thank goddess." Alright, so his bedside manner left a little to be desired.

Illyana felt someone bump her and she groaned, rolling over on the hard floor. Wait. That wasn't right. She remembered being in a cot when she'd gone to bed, she could have sworn....

She opened her eyes, finding herself in the lobby of the museum. "Not kids?" she mumbled, blinking as she looked up at the guy who'd nudged her. Chris...? He looked very different to what she remembered from the day before. And then, the events of the previous day clicked in her mind, and her eyes flew open. "That was real?" she asked, hauling herself to her feet.

On instinct, she reached for her journal, which was still resting on the floor; it had been acting like a pillow. She flipped through the last few pages, her heart sinking as she recognized the wobbly handwriting of her six-year-old self. It hadn't been a dream. What in the hell had she been thinking to write all that stuff? Every secret she'd worked so hard to keep, just laid out with bad spelling and grammar.

"How the hell did that happen?" she asked, looking up at Chris.

It was a relief to him when she stirred and woke up. For all he knew they had all been under some spell, knocked out and in a coma-like sleep while their younger selves wandered around the place, and as long as they slept their younger selves would still be around. Or at least that was the sort of conclusion Chris would come to if he were back in his own world.

"Unfortunately." he replied as he watched the realization hit her the same as it had hit him. Chris really wished it wasn't. And not just because some of his own secrets had come out, though he suspected secrets were hard to keep in a place like this.

While she looked through hers Chris checked his own journal quick, and was doubly relieved to see Connor had responded. He didn't know exactly where the clock tower was but at least his new friend was alright. Funny how quickly bonds could be made in high-stress situations. He was putting his journal away, tucking it in the back pocket of his jeans since there was nowhere else for it, when she posed the question and he shrugged. "I have no freaking idea. I mean, I've got guesses as to how it could be done where I'm from, but I have no idea what kind of rules and limitations there are." At least there was magic here, or he would be royally screwed. Chris furrowed his brow briefly as he tried to put a name to her face. "Illyana, right?"

Magic, most likely, Illyana figured. What else could do it? Maybe some Shi'Ar tech she wasn't aware of? Any alien tech she wasn't aware of, really. The only thing that really mattered was it could be done and it had been done, and she'd ended up blabbing all about Belasco to everyone here. Of the two big secrets she kept at home, that was definitely the one she'd have preferred to keep secret here. Her mutation, whatever. She'd met other people with mutations here. But demonic sorceress in training who was missing bits of her soul? Not exactly what she wanted to share.

She nodded as he spoke her name. "And, you're Chris?" Chris was the one whose mother fought demons, she remembered. She tensed unconsciously, wondering if he could tell she was part demon, and if he'd attack her because of it. Fighting was not at all what she wanted to do this morning. She glanced at the other two on the floor. Andy was still out cold, and so was...Sigma? The sneakers looked like Sigma's from yesterday. "Do you...do what your mom does?" she asked carefully. Maybe he would be able to help her, if he didn't want to attack her.

He nodded as well, reflecting briefly on the day before. It had been strange for his younger self to see demons mentioned and it was a little strange to think of them now in a serious sense. Not that Chris had entirely discounted the possibility of them in this place, but he figured if there were actually any around people would know about it, at least if they were demons like what he was used to. While he could sense that Illyana was a magical being, like himself, he couldn't tell that there was anything demonic to her.

At her question he ran a hand through his hair, trying to think how might be best to answer it. She seemed kind of cautious, though he supposed he couldn't blame her since he was feeling that way himself. "Vanquish demons? Yeah, I've had to take care of my share over the years. Kinda came with the territory." Because everyone was gunning for the Charmed Ones, or working for his brother later on. Chris frowned slightly and tried to brush off those thoughts. "Don't know how well that could work here though."

Great. Illyana wasn't sure exactly how she felt about how matter-of-factly Chris said he vanquished demons. She shifted a little, casting her eyes to the floor, back at Andy and Sigma. They didn't need to know about her problem. Really, Chris didn't either. But what if he found out some other way and tried to vanquish her before she was able to tell him that she had it under control, more or less?

"You don't...always...do that, though, right?" she asked, really not sure how to say what she wanted to. "I mean, not every demon is automatically bad, right? There's gotta be a few who just want to be left alone and aren't out to hurt people or...." It sounded lame even to her own ears, so she could imagine how it sounded to him. She bit her lip and risked a glance at him, trying to see how he was processing her not-quite questions.

His eyes narrowed a touch as Chris watched her more intently, observing her behavior. He felt like he was missing something. Something possibly obvious. That feeling only increased as she started to speak again. Was she hiding something or was that just his own paranoia creeping to the surface? He thought back to what she had written the day before and put it with what she was saying now.

He wasn't sure he liked the conclusion the information was leading him to.

"I suppose they're not. In my world a lot of them are. My family was under attack a lot from demons and there wasn't really room for talking them out of doing harm." That was putting it mildly, but what he came from wasn't important right now. "Are you... talking about yourself? I mean, you don't feel like a demon to me, and you don't seem evil." He managed a small smile for her benefit, as despite his mix of confusion and concern Chris felt like he should be reassuring her. If that was the case, that she was in some way demonic. Maybe other worlds had half or partial demons? Real reassurance would have been saying that he didn't think he could likely find the ingredients here for a vanquishing potion, but that was never a good thing to say.

She dropped her gaze as Chris asked her point blank. Maybe this wasn't the best idea. But, she couldn't exactly get out of it now, could she? She glanced up as he smiled at her. "You're kind," she said, sighing.

"What I said yesterday," she began, really not sure she wanted someone to know about this. But, maybe it would help. It had helped when she'd told the New Mutants more of what had happened to her. "All that was true. But no one came to save me. I had to save myself. I managed to escape Belasco, for a while, but I was stuck in Limbo, and I trained with some of the people there who hadn't been corrupted by him entirely." She felt a lump in her throat thinking of Storm and Cat, but swallowed it down and continued. "But he still found a way to trap me again. I lived in his demon dimension till I was 13, and during my time there, he sliced away at my soul, filling it with demonic magic." She glanced at Andy and Sigma again, but they didn't seem to be stirring. "So, I'm about 3/5 demon."

More fidgeting. Illyana hadn't fidgeted so much since she'd been six the first time. "But, I got away. I beat him, and I got away and made it home in the end." No need to mention that she was now queen of Limbo, right? Not like she could truly access the place while she was here. "It's just...I am still part demon, and I have to be careful about it. I've gotta be aware of what's going on with me all the time, or that part tries taking over, and it's really not pretty." Another glance at the floor. Well, she'd done it. Make of it what you would, Chris, but at least she'd been honest. More or less.

Chris listened, and tried to make sense of what he was hearing. They were definitely from two different worlds, he could tell that much. Yet... maybe not so different. As he listened he couldn't help but think of the similarities in her tale to what happened to his brother. Granted, pieces of Wyatt's soul weren't taken or anything but he was corrupted by a darklighter and a demon until he found evil all on his own and was tired of being used. Chris had watched the change in his brother, though he hadn't known what exactly was going on, and when he grew older vowed to try and change him, change what would happen. It wasn't in him to give up on someone, even if others thought they were beyond the point of help. And he did know a thing or two about having both good and evil inside. He had certainly committed a few less than angelic acts.

"If you have some control then... then that's what's important. It may be a part of you but it's not entirely who you are." he finally said, running a hand through his hair. Oh, this place was complicated. But really no more than at home. It was just different creatures and different problems. "I won't try and hurt you, if that's what you're worried about." Chris tilted his head to one side, and after a moment's hesitation reached out to rest a hand on one of her shoulders. "I meant what I said, I don't get evil from you, Illyana. And I trust that you have control over that part of you. At least as much control as you're capable of having." It was dangerous, he knew, and could come back to bite him. But he really did have to trust her whether he wanted to or not. Right now he wanted to. His instincts said to trust her words and so he would.

He seemed to take a long time to reply to Illyana's confession. She watched his features, trying to work out his thought process from the subtle movements of his eyes or mouth, but found herself too nervous to really get a read on him. She wasn't sure she wanted to know. Her hands slid to her pockets and she slouched unconsciously, not exactly shrinking away from Chris, but making herself seem less threatening without realizing exactly what she was doing.

At last, he started to speak, and Illyana was more than relieved that he didn't immediately condemn her. When he said he wouldn't try to hurt her, she let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. "Thanks," she said, not exactly sure of what else would be appropriate. "I do my best with it. I don't want to hurt people." At least not at the moment. No one here had betrayed her or hurt her family. If she got to meet the management again, that might be a different story. She smiled hesitantly at him.

"Can I ask you to keep it a secret, though? The whole 'I'm part-demon' thing? It's not exactly something I'm proud of." Not when she was in her right mind. "And it might freak people here out if they knew. It's bad enough I was a blabbermouth child yesterday." She scowled for a moment and rolled her eyes, remembering again all the secrets she'd inadvertently spilled.

At that Chris chuckled softly but it was warm, as warm as the smile he gave her in return, and he was nodding before he spoke. "Of course. I know a thing or two about keeping secrets, don't worry." So long as she didn't hurt anyone, he would keep it between the two of them. It wasn't his place to tell.

"And don't be too hard on yourself. We all seemed a bit chatty yesterday. I'm not exactly thrilled I broadcast myself as a witch." Though thank goddess that was all his younger self had seemed to spill. Illyana may have just confessed to being part demon, but Chris wasn't about to share that he was part angel, essentially. Those sort of combinations? They didn't seem to go well in any world. And the last thing he wanted was people thinking he could do all kinds of things that he couldn't.
