Nymphadora had woken up early in the morning, though that wasn't anything particularly new. She liked the early mornings and padding into the kitchen to see if her father was already awake and making breakfast. She loved helping him, especially when he made pancakes. That was when Nymphadora would make up different shapes and beg him to cook the pancakes in those shapes. After that, they'd wake up mummy and eat breakfast. So the girl woke up, all excited to do that.

Except, she didn't wake up in her bed. She didn't wake up to the bright coloured room of pinks and yellows, nor did she wake up with her favourite stuffed animal. She didn't wake up in her own house! What the heck! Frowning, she looked around for Charlie Weasley. Or maybe Bill Weasley. Maybe the Weasleys were over and the boys were playing a prank on her. Booted feet..ew, boots? Where were her ballet slippers? She was very into ballet right now. Even if she kept falling down. But booted feet clomped through the hall of the gymnasium straight outside.

This wasn't where she lived. Not at all. Frowning, Dora tugged on her pigtail, it changing by itself to a more mousy brown sort of colour, and she continued to wander outside. "Mummy!! Daaaadddy!" She kept wandering, not even quite sure where she was going. But she was very sure that she'd find Andromeda and Ted Tonks soon. Quite sure.

Rose beamed down at her little protegee. The girl was a genius, despite her young years. Or maybe she really was just desperate to help. But it sounded like a wonderful idea to her. "You know, Princess, I believe you may be right." Letting go of the small hand wrapped in hers, Rose made her way to one of the windows, giving it a tug. It wasn't easy. It had probably been in place for as long as Rose had been alive. But a little muscle behind it and up it came, grime and dirt and years of age falling from it in the process.

"Whew," she said, wiping her forehead with her arm. Her mum would have a fit if she saw that. "You know, it looks nicer in here already. Why don't you pull back some of the curtains and I'll come around behind you, opening the windows." They'd have to close them at night. Though really, why bother? It wouldn't keep those in charge from getting to them. And this place could use the fresh air. "Then maybe we'll leave the dragon hunting for the gym and go flower hunting instead."

"Ew.." Dora giggled, watching the dirt and dust puff in a cloud. "This? Is way worse than my room. Wait til I tell Mum and Dad." The pink-haired girl hurried forward then, to get ahead of Rose so she could pull back the curtains. There was a stumble or two (and a half) over her shoelaces, but Dora managed to stay upright as she ran to the next window and threw the curtains wide open.

Best way to fight sadness? Don't let it get you forever. Dora learned that at a young age because she liked being colourful, and sadness made her less so. "Okay! Maybe we can find a nice dragon who likes flowers too." There were all kinds of dragons after all!

"Rose? What do you think it looked like before the bad people got to it? And why did the bad people make everything so sad?"
