When: Day 19, 7am
Where: Around town; nearest location theatre
Rating: PG.

Nymphadora had woken up early in the morning, though that wasn't anything particularly new. She liked the early mornings and padding into the kitchen to see if her father was already awake and making breakfast. She loved helping him, especially when he made pancakes. That was when Nymphadora would make up different shapes and beg him to cook the pancakes in those shapes. After that, they'd wake up mummy and eat breakfast. So the girl woke up, all excited to do that.

Except, she didn't wake up in her bed. She didn't wake up to the bright coloured room of pinks and yellows, nor did she wake up with her favourite stuffed animal. She didn't wake up in her own house! What the heck! Frowning, she looked around for Charlie Weasley. Or maybe Bill Weasley. Maybe the Weasleys were over and the boys were playing a prank on her. Booted feet..ew, boots? Where were her ballet slippers? She was very into ballet right now. Even if she kept falling down. But booted feet clomped through the hall of the gymnasium straight outside.

This wasn't where she lived. Not at all. Frowning, Dora tugged on her pigtail, it changing by itself to a more mousy brown sort of colour, and she continued to wander outside. "Mummy!! Daaaadddy!" She kept wandering, not even quite sure where she was going. But she was very sure that she'd find Andromeda and Ted Tonks soon. Quite sure.

"To the Museum Castle!" And she nodded lots, looking at the sky that was just now lighting up with the sun. "It'll be very pretty and fun watching the day start. I like doing that. And watching the sun go to sleep. It's funny to watch people when they're out and about. Me an' my Mum like to sometimes make up stories about them! Where they're going, what they're doing. It's fun!" If Dora only knew about all the people here, she would have enough real stories to last her a lifetime.

"When you on vacation, can I see you when I'm not sleeping? I'd be very good an you can meet my mum and dad and Charlie and Bill and everyone!" Dora thought about that, believing it to be very fun to have a grown-up friend who was so fun. "Ooo..a boyfriend." She giggled then, wrinkling her nose. "Boys are so silly though, Rose!"

"My mum and I do that, too," Rose said, settling herself and Dora on the steps in front of the museum castle. "Even now that I'm all grown up, we we sometimes come up with stories about the people we see when we're shopping or eating out. My mum does people's hair for a living and I started it when I was little, coming up with stories about her clients." Was she giving away too much about her real life to keep up the Dream Weaver appearance? Maybe.

Wouldn't it be funny if she and Tonks had passed by each other on the streets of London? It was something to consider that made her giggle. "You probably wouldn't see me even if I did run into you when you're awake. You don't remember your Dream Weavers when you're awake. Haven't you noticed you haven't seen me before?"

She sat next to Rose and started to take off her boots. "I wish there was grass around to run in." She liked the feeling of grass between her toes. Then Dora smiled up at Rose, "I hope my mum and I still get to when I'm grown up!"

Staring really hard at the older woman, Dora scrunched up her face a little. She was studying Rose in order to remember what she looked like. In order to remember her when she woke up. "Maybe that's cause I'm not lookin' properly. Gotta look better!"

Rose didn't realise how much she craved grass until Dora mentioned it. One didn't get an awful lot of it on the TARDIS, and sometimes on some planets, the grass was really best not walked around in barefoot. Including London! 'Please Pick Up After Your Dog' signs were often easily ignored. "You'll get to, if you let her know you still want to play it. I think mums think their kids are too grown-up to play with them when they get older, but really they still want to. My mum wishes I'd do more things with her now that I'm all grown-up." Well. Sort of grown-up.

Rose tapped her chin thoughtfully, then buffed the apples with her shirt tail and handed one to Dora. Then she started unwrapping the packages of ho-ho's, amused even with herself that she was having Hostess snacks for breakfast. With an apple, of all things. "You can try, Princess, but I don't know if it'll work. When you wake up, this will all seem like a faraway land. Like when Dorothy woke up in the Wizard of Oz." Though perhaps the magical little girl hadn't seen that movie. Hmm.

If one wanted to get all metaphorical, the apples and ho-ho's were very much how Tonks later lived her life. Apples and responsibility mixed with ho-ho's and fun. "I'll haveta tell her that I'll always want to!" Dora paused, thinking about it. "Long as she always calls me Dora." And not Nymphadora. Even the thought of the name made the little girl want to sort of roll her eyes exasperatedly. It was quite a name, after all! And she didn't want to be made fun of for it.

"But Dorothy remembers all of them at the end! And thinks that some of the people in her wake-up life looks like people in Oz!" She hadn't seen the movie, no, but her father read the book to her. "Do you like the Oz books? I've only read that one. And Ozma of Oz!"

Ooh, foiled by a six year-old. Rose hated when those sorts of things happened. Mostly because it proved that a little kid was smarter than she was. Argh.

"Well, that's true," Rose said thoughtfully. "But Dorothy thought they looked familiar already even while she was dreaming it. Do I look familiar to you? Have you seen me before?" Her voice was playful. She knew there was no way Tonks had ever seen her before. At least, not that she'd remember. "Plus, all the people she remembered after her dream were people she was veru close to. Have you seen your mum about? Or you dad? Or this Charlie friend?". As she spoke, Rose unwrapped the two straws and poked them through the foil of the juice boxes. "To us, Princess Wizard Dora!" She held up her little cardboard box and tapped it to Dora's.

Point and counterpoint. She shook her head, "No, I've never seen you. And I haven't seem them either." She admitted with a sigh. Well, there went her wild ideas of seeing what a Dream Weaver did in their off time!

She took the juice after the straw was poked in it, which was a good thing. Last time Dora tried it, she ended up spraying juice everywhere. "Thank you very much." Manners were always good! "To us, Princess Knight Rose!" Tapping the little cardboard box against her keeper's, she then was eating her apple and drinking her juice. And fell quiet as she was looking around again.

The quiet lasted for all of three minutes, maybe. "Who else lives with you here in the museum castle? How come I was in a gymnasium this morning? I should have dreamt about here first! Do you think your friends will want to play with us?"

She was such a good little girl, really. Rose was head over heels and completely whipped. Maybe that was wrong, considering only just recently she'd been chatting with the girl's adult counterpart. And she'd loved the conversation and the fun she'd had with the adult Tonks, so why shouldn't she adore little Dora? And with any luck at all, being kind to young Dora would make adult Tonks proud of her. She hoped.

"I live here with my very best friend. His name is the Doctor." Giggling, Rose leaned in as if sharing a very big secret. "That's his actual name! The Doctor. Can you believe it?" She leaned back and took a sip of her juice. Ah. Fruit punch. Not one she'd missed since school. "And then there's my friend Jack, and Ianto who I met because of Jack. There's Sarah Jane, and Sam, and..." She'd been about to say Shannon. But she might have to explain why it was that Shannon wouldn't be joining them. And did Rose want to be responsible for turning Dream Land into Nightmare Land? No. Not quite. "And Remus." Who young Dora might just know. Or might not. She didn't know their history well, though she did know that Remus knew Dora's mother. Hmm. "And you can't start at the Dream Weaver's house! That's cheating. We have to show it to you. But we'll go back to the gym and I promise you, plenty of people are going to want to play."

It would make adult Tonks think that she was some sort of saint. While Dora tried very hard to be good, she knew as an adult that she was sometimes a bit of a handful. How her parents dealt with it, she had no clue. But little Nymphadora wasn't thinking about that right now. She wasn't thinking much beyond the fact that Rose had a friend whose name was just Doctor was sort of silly. And started giggling because of it, hands that were holding the apple getting blue and green stripes for feeling so silly. "No real name? How come? Maybe his real name is really long like mine!"

And then there was Jack and Ianto, whose names she was committing to memory, along with Sarah Jane and Sam..then there was Remus and the girl's face lit up. "I know a Remus too! He's my cousin Siri's friend! He's very nice." She nodded again before chomping into the apple and swinging her feet. Of course, the Remus that she knew was nineteen going on twenty, but that was neither here nor there.

"You know, I'll bet it is!" Rose said with a grin, taking a bit of her apple between her teeth and chewing thoughtfully. She'd always wondered about the Doctor's real name. Surely they didn't wander around Gallifrey all named The Something. Did they? It was something to think about, really. Just not then. Not when she had a tiny Dora to entertain. "Or it could be something dreadful like Eustace Rutherford. Wouldn't that be a dreadful name?" And now to hope the girl didn't have a family member named Eustace Rutherford Tonks.

Ah. So she did know Remus. Just probably not the Remus currently safely housed in the museum. Rose attempted to do that maths in her head, but sums had never been her strong point and she quickly gave up. If Remus stumbled out into the morning light, she'd make up a story quickly about Dora dreaming about her cousin's friend when he was closer to her own age. Maybe. "My Remus is very nice, too. He's quiet, though, and doesn't talk very much. It makes me feel like an asbolute chatterbox."

"Eustace? That's just a silly name, Rose." She said matter-of-factly, laughing even as she did. No, no Eustace Rutherford Tonks in her family. Not that she knew of, anyway. "I would go only by Doctor if my name was Eustace!"

"That sounds like my Remus too! Only my Remus talks sometimes. I think maybe cause I ask questions? And one time, he told me a story to stop my changing." Dora nodded and leaned in comfortably to tell her story. "I was very mad at Joshua, he's my cousin too, and started crying."

Dora paused then, looking up at Rose. "I'm not a crybaby! I was just mad." She really didn't want her Dream Weaver to think that she was a baby or anything.

"And I started hiccuping and my nose kept changing." She frowned then, still bothered by the fact that she couldn't control her morphing ability yet. "He and Siri came over and somehow Remus understood!" That was the end of Dora's story, signified by a bright smile that it all ended well. It wouldn't be until much later that Dora learned that the older boy couldn't control certain changes either. Much, much later.

"An' you're not a chatterbox. You talk just enough!"
