Entry tags:!complete, day 18, location: barn, nymphadora tonks, remy lebeau

Who: Tonks and Remy LeBeau
What: Tonks is rummaging for food and checking out an area for various things
Where: The Barn
When: Around 530pm, Day 18
Rating: PG
Status: Complete

Tonks had a list of things that she needed to do. In spite of her seeming absentmindedness, she liked to make mental to-do lists in order to keep things prioritised. The first thing, after having finished the survey, was turning it in. Then she was trying to figure out why there was a pink plastic watch on her left wrist, with a little plastic guard to keep it from being scratched. She wondered if the time that it said was really the same time. But couldn't find answers to those questions. And now? Now there were three important things to tick off, one after the other.

Number One? Eat. She hadn't eaten all day, and knew that she ought to. Though it was numero uno on her list, Tonks actually was taking the scenic route toward the gas station. The very scenic route. Item Number Two was to find a secluded place for Remus (because she didn't know that Rose and someone else was, or had been, doing the same thing) and Item Number Three? Use that same secluded space right now as her personal practice field. She had found some twine and wrapped Luna's old wand back together. But a broken (even if mended) wand was dangerous. And if she was going to practice a few hexes, then Tonks wanted a place where no one else would be.

It was why she paused at the barn and studied it so carefully. There had been someone in there earlier. Remy LeBeau, with the fun accent. But he had been one of those who disappeared. Maybe he hadn't made it back yet. Maybe he wouldn't. So, with that thought, the witch checked in the back pocket of her jeans..to assure that both her journal and the broken wand were there..and headed toward the barn. She intended on looking inside to see if there was any hint of anyone coming back.

She nodded, tilting her head. "I had looked for the Doctor this morning at the Carnival. Missed him though. You blokes are wily things." She smiled wryly then and rocked on her heels while waiting. During this time, Tonks stuck her hand in the pockets of the coat. She loved pockets.

"Not everyone in one place, I reckon. But less spread out than we are now? Exactly so people would know who was where. An' so it's not so lonely." Skinny shoulders lifted up in a shrug. "I wasn't keen on that earthquake." She had never been through one before.

"Maybe some o' us like bein' 'lone?" But there was a big difference between being alone and being lonely. Even the Cajun knew that. But all the same, he was leaning to haul the hot laundry out and dunk them into the cool water, then stick the unfinished washing board in there. Then he sat back down on the bucket and spread his legs around the board.

"Don' t'ink anyone was keen on 'de ear'tquake." He flashed a grin over at her, then shook his head some and looked back down at the clothes and dunked gloved hands in to grab up her shirt and begin scrubbing.

"S'not what I said, though." She winked and moved so that he could help her out with the laundry. Normally Tonks was very self-sufficient. But she knew herself well enough to know that the hot water should probably not end up on the ground. Or on her. Hence the clumsy Auror letting him take care of that part.

When he took it to the washboard though, she was smiling and shaking her head. "I can do that part!" Said with a wave of her hand. Mm, also she needed to ask him something. "So. Seein' as this is your area, I oughta ask you. Do you know of a secluded place round? I'm looking for a target area like." And a place for Remus, but she didn't say that.

"Non, I go' i', chere. You gotta straddle 'de bucke', an you pretty nake' un'er 'dat, non? You wanna gimme a free show, ain' gonna complain, bu' t'ink i' be bes' if I do 'dis jus' 'dis once, non?" He flashed her a smile then looked back down at his work. "Oui, jus' out back. Lo's o' room, big place Logan cleare' ou', t' use 'de woo' for 'de barn." Void of anything but stumps was about a twenty-foot by twenty-food space about a hundred feet behind the barn.

"Wha' you need one for?" Curious Cajun.

"Ahh. Well then, thanks for doin' my laundry!" Another wink, this one followed by a wide old grin. "You gotta pay t'play with this bird." Payment being a relationship. Still, it was fun to play around. Which could be construed as flirting on some level or another.

She nodded then, chewing on the inside of her cheek as she debated about whether it'd be too close to Remy in the barn. If she could make the wand work..Speaking of! "Mm. I wrapped up a wand and want to try it out. But broken wands tend ta be messy." And backfiring. "So I don't want no one around to hurt yanno?"

Remy just winked at her when she asked for payment then laughed and shook his head. He was actually somewhat glad for her presence, strange as that sounded. Still..

"Y'can do 'dat here. Ain' gonna hur' me." He lifted both eyebrows and tilted his head to the side some, making wet hair swing a little, then he went back to focusing on washing those clothes, scrubbing hard before doing the next piece, letting the first one soak there in the nice-smelling water. "Promise."

She laughed and stuck the wand in her pocket..well, the pocket as it wasn't really hers..while thinking about it. "I dunno. I'm a lot more scary than I look. Or maybe I look real scary and am just glamouring everyone with my ability." There had been a point in her life that she thought that for a little bit, that she was really some sort of creature underneath a human disguise. But that thought had been pish-poshed firmly by herself and her family and friends. Now it was just something silly to think about.

Still, it would be nice to have a sparring partner of sorts. "The spells could backfire or work all wonky." She was warning him seriously while watching the Cajun focus on scrubbing.

"'Dat'd be okay, chere. You look really scary, an' I am really scary, an' we bot' jus' foolin' people." He gave her a wink before standing up and hauling the clothes from the water, moving first to hang up that clothes line, then drape the clothes over it to get them on their way to drying. The fire was spread out to help heat the clothes, and keep it going. "Don' worry so much, non? Ain' gonna hur' me." He promised with a short laugh and shake of his wet head.

"Can do i' 'roun' 'de back if you so worrie', d'accord? An' lemme know if you nee' anyt'in', hm?" Remy prompted with a lift of his eyebrows.

"Yanno, we are just foolin' people into thinking we're so scary." Teased lightly. And when she said we, she meant you, Cajun. Because Tonks didn't fool anyone into thinking she was scary. That was part of the beauty of it. No one expects the Spanish Inquisition! Especially not from a clumsy witch.

"Right proper of you, thanks." She grinned in return, nodding. At least that part was out of the way. Still had to find somewhere for Remus, but they had time. Right? Right. With that placed to the side mentally for the moment, she watched Remy move about and sort of followed him around, mostly to keep moving. "So what were you doin' before getting transported to Extreme Town?" Everything was in extremes here. It was like an Auror training gone horribly, terribly awry.

"Moi?" He glanced back at her over his shoulder, after hanging up the clothes, then turned to face her with a smile. "Was killin' people. F' money. 'Das wha' I do. M' uh mercenary." Don't believe him, Tonks. No one else ever did. He was all smiles, he was friendly, he was charming, and he was lazy. Always sprawled around his place like a fucking house cat, expecting to be left alone, then pet, fed, taken care of.. he expected it all. And was always a bit put off when he didn't get it. There was no way he killed people for a living.

He robbed them.

"How 'bou' you, chere?"

She eyeballed him in mock suspicion, eyebrows lifting. "You're a right considerate killer, doin' laundry and creating a washroom of sorts." He was shifty, there was no doubt about that. Sort of reminded her of Mundungus Fletcher. Except cuter. Took more baths. So she was assuming that Remy the Cajun did some side...business..of sorts. Moody would have a field day with this bloke.

Thinking about her mentor and fellow Order member made Tonks smile a bit. She missed them all terribly. But hadn't allowed herself to focus on them. Had to focus on surviving here first. "Oh, me? I chased and caught cheeky buggers like you." Replied with a wry smile and a shrug. "I'm an Auror. Sort of like a police?"

"Only 'cause I gotta clean 'de bloo' offa my clot'es." He assured her with a wink before he poked and prodded some at the clothes as they dried. It wouldn't take much longer, he'd wrung them out well enough and the fire was doing a pretty good job of drying them out. Absently, one hand came up to finger the bottom of his other shirt, and his fingers gripped on. His face took on a curious look as he wondered if charging it would dry it. It seemed like it would, shifting the molecules like that often did some strange things to different items. It might very well force all that water out.

And this woman had seen him do it once, but... His hand fell away.

"You uh cop? Five-oh? Kin'a ho', you know. Women in uniform." That came with a wide smile over at her.

She caught the curious look, knowing it well because it was often a look that Tonks herself got, and lifted her eyebrows in return curiosity. "What?" Of course, though she knew the look, the witch had no idea what it was for. Hence asking.

Then Remy was flirting again and she laughed, sort of rolling her eyes. Men. "My uniform is a set of dress robes, then. We magical lot have different ideas of wardrobes." Though.."Though I'm gonna haveta include this style coat in when I get home!" Added with a laugh and twirl in the coat that she was wearing. It was comfortable. Homey, even.

Taking a step closer, to see how her clothes were doing, Tonks tilted her head slightly. "An' if you want help, getting this stuff set up, I volunteer." Motioned with her hand in the coat pocket, "That way, if I get caught, I'll be the thoughtful one and your secret is safe." Added with a wink.

His eyes lit up some when she mentioned helping and he turned around to stare at her, then broke into a wide smile. "Oui! 'Das brillian'. Gonna give you 'dis stuff soon as 'm ready, d'accord? An' you can give i' to 'dem. 'Dey gonna love i' comin' from you. Goo' idea, chere." That was a perfect idea! Why hadn't he thought of that? This woman was brilliant, really.

"Gonna le' you know when m' all rea'y, an' you can take 'de stuff, non?" He was reaching out then, tugging at the clothes and testing to see how dry they were. Just slightly damp, but it was good. They would just get wet in the rain again. And he was tugging her clothes down and extending them out with a smile.

"I had been joking!" She laughed, staring at him like he was the oddest person she had met. Which he wasn't, really. It just interested the lifelong people-watcher that he was so intent on not being recognised as the mastermind behind this little plan. All the same, she nodded in agreement. "When you're ready, I'll come an' take it."

She took the clothes with a grateful little smile and lifted them up to her nose, smelling just how well the little potpourri soap worked. "Smells good." The jeans were slipped on underneath the very long coat, but she was motioning for him to turn around by turning her finger in a circular motion. Once Remy obliged, Tonks slipped out of the coat and back into her normal clothes. A little damp, but it wasn't too bad at all.

"Okay, you can look again." The coat was held carefully and extended out. "Thanks, Remy. I'll be coming round later too t'practice yeah?" With her wand.

He did turn when she indicated, rocking a little on his toes. He sniffed some (being out in the cold and rain hadn't done his body any good) as he waited, but then spun back around when she said he could look, and the Cajun smiled brightly. "How 'dey smell, chere? Look clean. Bien." Gloved hands clapped together and he stepped forward with a nod. "Gonna sen' you uh note when 'm rea'y, d'accord?" asked with a lift of his eyebrows and a smile.

He really was desperate not to seem like a good guy, wasn't it? Were you putting two and two together, Tonks? Only bad guys didn't want to be lumped in with good guys. But he was so nice.

Bad guys didn't give a shit. Grey area guys sat on the fence, and waffled depending on how they felt. She smiled wryly, watching him for a long minute, then leaned in and kissed his cheek. "Thanks. An' you send that note when you need." Said with another nod.

Whether Remy Lebeau was a good guy or bad guy, Tonks wasn't sure. But too, she wasn't sure if he was always so sure. Either way, she had to get going. Still had things on her to-do list. "I'll see you round, Remy." With a wink, Tonks grinned and swooped up her journal and wand, then was off like a little pink lightning bolt on the ground.
