A new weapon showed up in my apartment today. It's called the Pick Axe of Despair. Yeah, I know, it's Edgelord for days, but I didn't name it and I don't want to know what happens if I don't call it by whatever is etched into the handle.

Anyway, that's not the point. The point is that I am absolute shit using this weapon and would like to learn how to wield it so I don't look like a flailing sideways windmill.

I went through a lot in Orange County, even experienced my own death. I had to get used to it, or else I probably would have lost my mind.

Don't get me wrong, it still surprises me. That thing that tried to crawl out of the kitchen drawer while you and Revy weren't trying to rob me? That thing scared the shit out of me.

And that's why I've tried really, really hard to not be the squishy mortal normie I used to be.

I'm kinda regretting we weren't closer back in that life. That sounds pretty fucking rough. I'm pretty sure I would have lost my goddamn mind if I'd actually experienced my death, instead of just some close calls.

But hey, I like to think I'm pretty good at the whole fighting thing ~~even if you did manage to get further in your first fucking fight club than I ever have in two years of it~~ if you ever wanted to go toe to toe. In the meantime though, I think we can figure out how to swing that pick axe of yours.

Don't worry about it, Leon. It wasn't like we were strangers back then. Besides, by the time all that shit happened, you and Revy were in New York. There wouldn't have been anything you could have done anyway. And it wasn't like I came looking for you guys after it happened. I could have called or texted, but I didn't.

You've faced monsters too. You've told me about the creatures in your dreams and I'd say you're more than a "pretty good" fighter. You and Revy are what I strive to be as far as that goes.
