I haven't met many since I arrived here, so where does one meet others here in Vallo? I'm not the bar kind and I'm not the best at dancing. I prefer moonlight, books and good conversation. I realize this sounds like one of those dating ads, but I assure you it's not. I'm just looking to meet new and like-minded people.

It's all so fascinating and strange.

Where I'm from you can only become a vampire by being turned; bitten by someone who is a vampire then drinking from them. You can't eat food, drink or be physical any longer nor be in sunlight. A true creature of the night. To my knowledge that is the only kind of vampire where I'm from. A while after I was turned I went in search of other vampires. Eventually I found some, but they were the same as me as in how they were made.

Some are given the choice, some aren't. We're immortal. As far as I know fire, beheading, the sunlight and drinking the blood of the dead are the only ways we can die. Our powers depend on who our maker is and the individual. Some can read minds, create glamors, power of suggestion, great speed, great strength, levitation and some telekinesis. There may be more, but I don't claim to know everything about us.

Wait...vampires can't have sex either?

Moroi do tend to hide from everyone except for Dhampirs (who they hide behind lol), but I haven't really heard of them existing anywhere else. Those are the same ways to kill a Strigoi though...except for the dead blood thing, although I'm by no means an expert either.

No, they can't which is why I was shocked to learn there are those that can.

We do tend to heal more quickly when injured. That can also vary depending in the injury, your maker and age.

Damn. Between that and drinking that's like 75% of my hobbies. Can you smoke?

You're 21 and sex and drinking are 75% of your hobbies? So young. I don't know? I have never smoked. I would think not since I don't have functioning lungs to inhale or exhale. I can be affected by the blood of someone who has drank or partaken of liquor or drugs, but it has to be a significant amount. It doesn't make me drunk or high per se, it's more a strange feeling.

lol when you put it THAT way it doesn't sound so good, but I think it's fairly typical of most 21 y/o guys. Err, yeah guess smoking wouldn't work so well without lungs. We're now at 80% of my hobbies.

Perhaps now, but not when I was 21. Times were different then though. Still, that's a great chunk of leisure time taken up by two things. What other hobbies do you have.

Also, I just realized I don't know your name. I'm Louis.

Art. You obviously like to read--have any others? Did they change after you became a vampire?

I'm Adrian. Nice to meet you, Louis.

As an observer who appreciates it or an artist?

Traveling, art on the appreciation level and I like to sketch sometimes, movies, writing, poetry, plays/musicals/broadway, museums, the outdoors and music - classical and slow. Yes, they did change after I became a vampire. We didn't have movies when I was born nor Broadway which is so different from the plays and opera in my day. I could travel more as a vampire, but not always easily. At least not until air planes were invented.

Nice to meet you, Adrian.

Both. It's...not always easy creating art, but I'd been trying to get back into it before I got sucked into this new dimension. You've probably seen some pretty impressive artwork over the years...how old are you, exactly?

No, it's not. I have. I'm 256 years old, but was turned when I was 25.

Definitely a lot of art created in that time frame to appreciate. Do you have a favorite piece? Or viewing experience, I guess?

Are you familiar with John William Waterhouse? The Lady of Shalott is one of my favorite paintings. It's truly beautiful and speaks to me.

Yes, definitely. I actually saw it once with my Aunt, she took me to the Tate. I'm sure you've seen it in person? I guess that was the only way to see art back then.

Through a connection of someone I knew who was a patron of the arts I viewed the painting at his home and listened on 3 artists talking art. It was an incredible experience. I have seen it in London at the Tate as well.

Alright ngl you got me jealous now. You had me feeling bad for you what with the no food, alcohol, or sex, but now I'm jealous.

There is no need to be jealous. Life is full of...opportunity. There are other pleasures to take part in as well. And sex does not equal pleasure, intimacy or being fulfilled. All can be experienced in different ways.

I guess that's true well, depends on the person, really-- Anyway, if you ever wanted to hang out at an art museum or something, I'd be open to it. I'm not sure what exactly Vallo has to offer in terms of an art scene, but I'd like to find out.

We are all different.

I think that would be nice. Could you look into a museum or gallery we could go to? I would greatly appreciate it. I have been told you can find anyone or anything on this phone and laptop computer, but all I know how to do on the phone is post and I have to still think about it sometimes. I have yet to even turn on the laptop computer, but I am looking into taking technology classes next week so I can learn how to use them.

Yeah, no problem. I definitely can navigate the phone more easily. I could maybe help, but I'm not sure how good I'll be at explaining.
