thread: peter & juno
Peter hadn't considered something like this. Oh, he'd pondered the potential for Juno's arrival and then had dismissed it outright. The universe was never that cruel nor that kind. But it looked very much like this universe didn't play by the same rules as their own. Peter had been prepared to be angry with Juno, rightly and fully prepared, and yet, what he'd found himself being was an overgrown mother hen trying to get her stubborn little chick to do what was healthy for him. It seemed there was... far more to the situation that he'd observed Juno in than had been obvious from the outside, and while Peter might have seen the ideal scenario for a good man on a corrupt planet, working to actually fix the city for the better, the veneer on this one must have been strong. After all, it had fooled his cynical, skeptical mind into think that Ramses O'Flaherty actually wanted to change Hyperion City instead of just throwing out some flash words with no substance and doing nothing to change anything. But Juno would likely explain. There were... far more things that they needed to talk about than this, and as much as Peter wanted to just pout and stew and refuse to deal with everything that had happened, it wouldn't be practical. They were going to be in close quarters like this for awhile yet. Likely longer, should his application to Buddy Aurinko's crew be accepted. Better they air out any grievances they might have before having to be placed in life-threatening situations again. And speaking of life-threatening situation, it took everything in Peter to maintain his composure as he entered the hospital where Juno was staying, quietly inquiring as to which direction he needed to go before heading that way. The quicker he was in and out of here, the better. Hospitals might have been a necessity of life, but they were also a place where people could easily close in on you if you weren't careful. And as irrational as it might have been in a place where he wasn't running from anything, Peter still felt he needed an easy escape. And that had nothing to do with going to talk to Juno. Really. |
