So, I've been researching the problem of our spirit-ridden friend for some time now. Originally, my mindset was to put Justice back into the Fade. This has always seemed the most practical approach given that spirits, as we all knowthanks to the elf god prick's self-important ramblings, are creatures of the Fade and that is where they thrive. They, as a general rule, do not manage well outside of that environment. Justice having a willing human host seems to have largely mitigated thisother than the all that pesky terrorism, but the continued cohabitation seems to have had an adverse affect on both parties in the long term. This is largely because spirits are meant to be beings of pure purpose - singular ideals - whereas humans and other similar races are a mess of complex and often contradictory emotions and desires. They, simply put, don't mesh well.
The problem, of course, was that putting Justice into the Fade here would likely create more problems than it would solve. The Fade here is weak and largely underformed, and it most likely would have harmed Justice. Since I am well aware that Anders would not agree to any sort of plan that harms his passenger, that was something of a non-starter. And, since we have not found any practical way of returning to our own world, we can hardly just open up a rift to our own Fade to toss him there.
But I came to a realization after several espressos and quite a bit of researchto avoid thinking about recent revelations regarding my father. I had been approaching this as one would in Thedas, where magic comes from the Fade and, outside of mages themselves, lyrium, runes and enchantments, does not flow freely within the world. We are not, however, in Thedas. We are in a world that is overflowing with magical energy and potential. Because of this, there is no reason why we should need to put Justice into the Fade in order for it and Anders to exist separately. Given the sheer magical energy of this place, Justice should be able to exist without a host in the world in a way that he could not in Thedas.
All of this is to say that we should be able to do a ritual to separate Anders and Justice without having to worry about the issue of where to put Justice. Which removes a whole half of the problem. Luckily, the other half of this problem is relatively simple, provided that Justice doesn't kick up too much of a fuss.
I'm working on a rather sensitive project at the moment and could use your input on some things. You're both clearly gifted magical researchers and I've never seen the point in being ashamed to ask for help when stuck.
There is an acquaintance of mine who is host to a spirit of Justice. This wouldn't be a problem, save that spirits do not do well in human hosts. It's the conflict between a being of pure purpose and intent and a being of emotion and complexity. Inevitably the human host's emotions will corrupt the spirit within them. While there are some spirits whose inherent purpose does not find conflict in a human host - namely spirits such as Faith and Compassion which are more geared to emotionality - Justice is not such as spirit.
The idea solution in our own world would be to put it back behind the veil where it belongs. Unfortunately, that is not a valid option here. And neither is simply destroying the spirit to preserve the man, because the man in question is blindingly stubborn and protective of the spirit. While Vallo's ambient magic means that we could conceivably remove the spirit from the man without harming it, there is quite a bit of resistance to the idea of just letting the spirit roam free, given that it has been rather violent in pursuit of justice and vengeance.
I'm looking for an alternative that will not harm the spirit but also won't lead to it harming others and would welcome your thoughts on the matter.
