The headmistress looked a combination of bored and annoyed, her frustration only growing with everything the man said.
“Violent, nightmarish images, Directrix Drach, constantly plaguing them since Tuesday,” he continued, lips pursing in disdain. “I doubt it’s a coincidence.”
“Maybe their conscience has been bothering them,” Sabrina muttered, snapping her mouth shut at Directrix Drach’s look.
“What is it that you think has been causing these images?” the headmistress asked, looking over at the professor again.
He waved a hand toward Sabrina but Directrix Drach held up a hand as she leaned forward. “Careful there, Chad, it seems to me like you’re wanting to accuse a mere seventeen year old with somehow getting through the supposedly impenetrable shields of over a dozen from your coven? Think of what that might do to your coven’s reputation.” The headmistress strummed her fingers along her desk. “Are you sure Lucia wants that possibility out in the world?”
His lips thinned at that, looking a mix of flustered and annoyed. “Of course not.”
“Then I think you have a class to teach,” she continued, and the man nodded at that, stopping at the door as she added, “Though we will be discussing the student chats that implicate you in the fight club later this afternoon.”
Sabrina had to duck her hair in front of her face at that, trying not to chuckle at how stiff the other man had gotten before he headed out of the office. “I believe you have class to get to as well, Sabrina,” she nodded toward the door and Sabrina rose, trying not to outwardly look smug. “If someone had planted some sort of hex, I’d hope such a thing would be undone. Perhaps by lunchtime?”
Sabrina glanced over her shoulder at the headmisstress. “Maybe it was even already lifted.”
“You have a bright future ahead of you, Sabrina, but in the future try to temper any desire for your own brand of justice.” She waved her off with that and Sabrina slid out of the room, not bothering to hide her bright smile as she started walking down the hallway.
And so maybe she’d let her eyes flash that eerie white when she passed by Aidan and his little goon group as they were gathering their things at their lockers. She probably shouldn’t like the shiver of fear that briefly ran through them, but oh well. Hopefully they’d leave her and Nick alone going forward.
If not, plan A was still an option.
