making adjustments
In two weeks I've gone from living in a box--essentially--to living in a house, to having a roommate. I mean, she's 85, but still. It's good for a man to have someone to look after, though I let her pretend she's looking after me. Perhaps she is. It's certainly keeping me in check. I really was a good boy at some point in my life, you know.

Lost almost a stone with the illness. Makes my body feel fragile strange. What the heck--fragile. I feel old. Older than Mrs. Higgins, here. Hopefully the weight comes back soon.

But I did accidentally quit smoking. It's difficult to keep that up when you can't breathe. It seems to be sticking, too.

Eat well, that'll help!

Quitting smoking is probably a good idea. I should consider that.

When you quit you realize you don't know what you ever did with your hands before they were holding cigarettes.

Like I need to fidget more? Is it really hard? I'm going to have a couple of ten-year-olds around here, soon. Even just smoking outside like I try to do is probably too much.

It's terribly hard. Impossible, really. I'm not convinced I've actually done it yet.

Why ten-year-olds and why a couple of them?

Try meditation!

I'm getting a new roommate. She's the caretaker for her siblings, they're twins. I must be crazy.

Meditation puts me to sleep.

Maybe we could all move in together and become one very non-Brady Bunch-type family.

If you're sleeping you're not smoking.

We'd need a bigger apartment.

Good point.

I don't take up much room. Just give me a corner somewhere and I'll be content.

Well done, you!

I'd say some proper British cooking might stick to your ribs, but suggesting that would imply I was offering to cook—and while I'd be delighted to offer, few would be impressed nor delighted with the results.

Is it still illegal to import haggis?

That is so much to lose! You'll have to take care. Eat as much protein as you can manage, it'll help.

I'm really happy to hear this - well not the weight loss but I'm sure you can gain that back once you start eating normally again (if you're not already and if you are even sooner.)
