Um hi? My name's Gemini and this might sound a little bit silly but a couple of days ago I had this really disturbing dream. I mean, of course I've had dreams before but this was...different, it felt scarily real which is weird because it definitely never happened.

I was looking around online to see if anyone had experienced anything similar and then I found this place and some of the comments I've seen sound a lot like my experience. I doubt it means anything and I'm probably just worrying over nothing, but does anyone have any advice for dealing with this kind of thing if it happens again?

Not the usual order of things but also not completely unheard of either.

Best advice I can give? Hold onto what you know is true in the waking world. It can be tough but that's what you can control, not what you dream about.

That sounds like very sensible advice.

But are you saying that I'm likely to have more like that?

It can be hard to remember, but it's still true. And I suppose so. Guess it comes with the former teacher thing.

Oh, that's definite possibility. Especially now that you're on the network.

I was hoping that would be it, one was enough.

Did you enjoy teaching?

Sorry. If you hadn't shown up here you might have been saved, or if you moved. But you're here now so it's just going to run its course.

Yeah, it was good. Just needed a change and got tired of the red tape and all.

That's a relief. I saw a couple of other places which offered advice but none of them were very helpful.

Most of them don't delve into dreams of other lives.

Welcome to Orange County, hope you survive the experience!

Also, protip, develop healthy coping mechanisms fast.

Thanks, but I've lived in Orange County most of my life??

I really hope I don't have more dreams like that, but you sound like you've been experiencing something similar? Are there any tips you could give me?

There's Orange County and then there's Orange County.

First, there's the practical. Always keep first aid supplies near the bed and extras in the bathroom. Too many of us have woken up bleeding or worse to not take those precautions. Don't get nice sheets ever again, not worth it.

Keep a journal nearby to write things down, too. Might help sometime. Some people go really crazy and use like, white boards or spreadsheets to track things.

I'd tell you to mentally prepare yourself, but without knowing what kind of dreams you have there's no way of knowing. I wasn't prepared for mine, and sometimes they still manage to surprise me. And I've been dreaming over 7 years. Or is it 8...

Ok um, sorry I'm just...that's a lot to process.

I'll do all of those things but

I'm sorry I'm really anxious right now, it's getting hard to type.

Just breathe. It's a lot, and I'm probably ... a little blase about it due to both how long it's been going on and how frequently my dreams are Terrible and Painful.

Alternate Universes are a bitch.

You had a dream and then found this place?! Huh, that's interesting, but also points to the dreams definitely being an OC thing more than a Net thing.

Yeah, I didn't really want to bother my doctor so I had a look around the internet and some of what was being talked about here kinda fit.

Maybe? I mean I knew mine was weird but not how weird until I got here.

I can understand that. I know some people have weird dreams normally, but these dreams are just so different that it's easy to tell them apart from regular weird dreams.

I don't think I do, although I haven't been through that many previous posts yet.

Is there anything you do to cope?

I don't really have time to cope, got a four year old and I'm a cop.

I sometimes talk about them on here or to friends and or sister.

I just through myself into living instead of dreaming.

Fair warning though, sometime the dreams an overlap.

I woke up with broken ribs from my dreams before.

I admire you, both of those are tough but at the same time? That's really awesome.

But the overlapping sounds scary. I don't know what my dreams will bring but I haven't been feeling physically right since it happened.
