Well this was an interesting night. While Regulus was cooking dinner I was playing with the girls at the table when all of a sudden I heard this...only word I can think of to describe is crackling noise coming from the stove. Normally I stay as far away from it as possible for everyone's sake but that worried me so I went over to see what happened and found that one of the burners had popped a hole in itself. I immediately turned all of the burners off, moved the pots and pans off it, bundled him and the girls into the car to go to dinner and then to buy a new stove. They're supposed to deliver and install it tomorrow while I'm at work. And I already told the clerk at the store - I don't care what they do with the old one so long as they remove it from the property.

Your burner burned a hole in itself? HOW does a burner burn a hole in itself? That... I wonder if there was some sort of recall on that you guys never found out about, because that just sounds incredibly dangerous.

I honestly have no clue how that happened. Regulus does all of the cooking and he picked out our new stove which is one of those glass top ones so hopefully I never have to see that again.

I'm the one who does all the cooking at home. ...Now I kind of want to research to see if the stove in our apartment has had anything go wrong with it like this before. Take care of the issue before it's an issue, you know?

The glass one sounds like it will be easy to clean, at least.

Probably a smart plan. I wish I'd thought to do that with ours. I took everything else into consideration with regards to safety here.

That is true. It will make my part of things easier. He cooks, I clean.

I guess because most people wouldn't think of their stove attacking them? I know I certainly never thought about that until now.

It can't be as bad as my dad is with cooking.

It honestly is. I don't mind the prep work, love the process of it all. I hate trying to get the resulting gunk off my pans.

I have been very much banned from using any appliance but our microwave for reheating leftovers and the coffee machine.

I can use the stove only to heat the tea kettle.

You know of all the things that have happened in this weird county, none of them have made my heart just stop for a few beats like having our stove trying to blow itself up on me? Thank you for getting me away from it while I was still trying to process what the hell had just happened.

Me too. It was bad enough it did that to me without the girls being right there.

I know we're getting rid of it tomorrow, but I went ahead and took the coils out now they've cooled down, just to be safe. I'd unplug the entire stove if I could get back there, but it's enough knowing it's going to be gone tomorrow and replaced with a better and safer one.

Good idea, they're bound to be curious about it. I'll take the food and water bowls to the livingroom. I'll need to move them again to get them out of everyone's way tomorrow, anyway. They're not going to be happy about it, but I'll have to close them in our room for their safety.

They are not going to be at all happy about it but it's for their safety. I'd offer to do it before I go to work but it wouldn't be fair to them to be locked in there for so long.

Oh no, it really wouldn't be fair to them at all. I'll start moving them in there when it gets close to the time frame they gave us for delivery. They'll have less time to be upset about it that way.
