The worst part about moving so far is trying to get my crock-pot back from the neighbor. How do you forget that it wasn’t yours? I mean honestly. How? When you have to call someone to ask if they have one you can borrow - you can’t really expect the person who loaned it to you to believe that, right? The sad part is if she’d asked me flat out if she could have kept it - I’d probably have let her. I mean I have two after all and loaned her the one I don’t use very often, but kept just in case something happened and the other one got broken. I just don’t like being lied to and manipulated like I think she was trying to do.

It's just a crock pot.

But that's not the issue is it.

No. It's not. It's just...what caused the whole thing to come to a head.

Did you bitch her out?

Suggested she go to Walmart and buy her own after returning mine to me. Then she wouldn't have to worry about forgetting whether it belonged to her or someone else in the future because she wouldn't need to borrow one.

I would have fucking torn into her. You're too nice.

Technically I still work for her until I deliver the cake for her daughter's birthday to her Saturday so I have to at least try and be polite to her until that final check is in my hands.

Then you should tear into her.

I might. It will depend on how much I just want to get out of that neighborhood. The less I have to deal with the guy I used to live with the happier I'll be.

I don't really have room, but maybe there's someone you can stay with?

I'm staying with a friend from work right now while apartment hunting. Good things about small businesses is you get to know people pretty well in regards to whether you can trust them or not.

Good. Just record tearing into her for the rest of us to see.

I'll try to remember to pull my phone out for it.

Wait, someone is actually trying to convince you that your crockpot is theirs?

She was. It didn't work. And I'm blocking them from my phone because that is a level of whatever that I do not want in my life now that I'm not living there anymore.

One thing I've learned since moving here is how to do that.

It's a good skill to have no matter where you live.

Is there something about here in particular?

No pony for me yet but - maybe someday. Other people have gotten animals from theirs as mad as that sounds.

to play nice with her.

The part of me that's spent too much time studying thinks the forgetting and think it's theirs - could be an early sign of dementia or the result of a head injury.

It's probably the lying and manipulating. Everyone Most people do it.

I say let her keep it. It's better than going back to that neighbourhood with the creepy guy.

It could be and if it continues hopefully her husband or daughter will bring it up to a doctor.

I got it back from her after she realized I wasn't going to just go along with her story. I just hate that she went that route rather than just coming out and asking if she could keep it. Either permanently or just for a little longer.
