Okay. I don’t care if it is going to eat up most of my savings, I can’t stay in this house one more night. I’m renting a room here, I’ve gone along with everything the landlord’s asked as far as how the public areas of the house are kept, it’s his home. But when I come home and he’s gone into my room and rearranged my personal things to “make it easier” for me to find them... that’s way past the line of what I’m comfortable with.

[Audrey]
I’m going to be late to work tomorrow. I’ll try to keep apartment hunting to my days off though.

That sounds incredibly uncomfortable! Do you need a place to stay the night? We have a spare bedroom here, if you don't mind the mess. I'll run it by Merlin, but I'm sure it'd be okay.

I can help you look for a place, too. I feel awful that your private space has been invaded!

I was planning on going to a hotel but if you and Merlin wouldn't mind me staying there tonight I'd appreciate it.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the first time he'd gone in my room but I couldn't prove it until tonight. It was always little things that I chalked up to not remembering moving something. Or thinking I'd put it one place when I'd put it somewhere else. Like my camera. Or a cookbook that I'd been flipping through.

I can offer you the guest room for at least tonight. There may be a few nights in it for you, too, so long as Merlin signs off on it.

That's just... so horrifying. Get out as soon as you can, and don't go back unless you have an escort.

I understand.

Tonight just sped up my moving out. A friend offered to come help me get my things together so hopefully I won't have to come back to get anything.

Good. I'm glad you're getting out of there. And let me know if you want me to hex him for you.

You can take Merlin with you if you need to collect anything else.

I appreciate the offer but I'll pass. I'm trying to look at this as a learning opportunity to listen more to my gut.

Thank you. Both of you.

You're a lot more mature than I am, Cath. <3

Anytime. Literally, anytime.

I can't do anything about the stress, but please there should be no guilt. At least not when it comes to me. I'm more than happy to help however I can.

I appreciate it Audrey. I really do. And I'll figure out some way to return the favor once this is all settled down.

Please don't worry about it. Just be yourself and be safe, and continue coming in to work on time! ;) . That's all I ask!

Tempting but no. I just want to get my things and get out of here. I guess I should count myself lucky that the place was furnished so I don't have to figure out how to move my furniture too right?

That's really creepy. No guy should be going through your personal stuff.

Do you feel safe? Can you take all your stuff with you or at least lock it up?

I don't have any furniture so that's a good thing I think. I think I can get most of my stuff in my car and a friend has offered to come help me get out. I feel...disturbed by him doing this more than anything else. I don't feel comfortable staying here anymore.

I don't blame you. I wouldn't feel comfortable there either. I'm glad your friend is helping. I wouldn't want to be alone with a guy like that.

Maybe he just didn't want me to get wiser.

Right. You've got to listen to your gut.

That's weird and creepy.

Do you need a place to stay? It wouldn't be too comfortable, but you could have my couch and/or share my bed.

I should have paid attention to the warning signs before.

I have a place for tonight but I wouldn't say no to snagging your couch while apartment hunting starting tomorrow?

What had he done before?

You have it! Or if you'd like, you can have the bed, I don't mind! Anything to help you feel more at ease after this.

I just kept noticing things weren't where I'd left them. And he kept making comments about how late I came in some nights.

I don't mind the couch Rose I promise.

Yeah, living on your own is always nice. At least not with a stranger ya know? I've had my fair share and finally decided to get my own place.

Working two jobs, but at least I enjoy them! ;)

It might be different between states, but I heard before a landlord has to give 24 hours notice or something before they can drop in.

I'm not sure if that would apply the same way when you're renting a room in their house.

I hadn't ever rented before and his rent was affordable. I wonder if I should let the school now so they can try and steer students away from him somehow.

I haven't either, but I just have a sense for sketchy people. Possibly from having a mother that tricks people for a liv And there's just something really off about that whole situation. I really would let them know.

That said - I'll leave my name and contact info with the school and if any other students get treated this way by him they can contact me and I'll share my experience with the police or the court or whoever will help them.
