I am very possibly literally spamming your little forum here, but I have like, no friends to text this to (wow how depressing is THAT statement) and it was of upmost importance that I shared this with ANYONE.

(I'm specifically looking at you, Scott, Scott McCall, local vet tech.)

That is the weirdest thing I have ever seen!

Yes. But still delightful.

That's very true. I've seen an owl that was defeathered in an accident. The poor thing looked and seemed to feel very undignified.

I would imagine. But I sort of like the spookiness.

Spooky can be good, as long as no one's hurt by it.

Definitely bears. Bears are totally the creepiest without fur.

You don't think the hedgehog's kind of cute though?

Also next time text if you want. Since you're coming over for desserts, I'll give you my number.

I find the hedgehog the most upsetting, for reasons I'm not really sure of.

The bunny and the possum are, undoubtedly, my favourites.

And that's very generous of you. Though it would be dangerous, welcoming my ramblings.

I have three rescue rabbits, but they happen to have all their fur. Still cute though.

I don't text a lot anyway. Your ramblings are welcome.

Most animals look very different without their pelage. I don't know if it's horrifying though.

Yes yes. That post has a rabbit and I am in love with it. Also the possum is strangely cute.

Makes me wonder if possum fur is used for anything. Back home, we only used an animal if we could use all of it. Like rabbits or deer.

I demand a tiny hairless rabbit. He looks so delightful old and wizened.

Aw. Poor babies. But we've had a lot of things like that where I work. Mostly because you have to shave animals sometimes to help them heal. :(

Oh! The Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital in Buckinghamshire has had a hedgeless hedgehog for a few years now. His name is
Spude, appropriately enough.

He gets skin massages with lotion every day, though they're not sure what causes this oddity. He grows a spine now and again, but it's always ingrown, poor thing.

It sounds like something out of Beatrix Potter, doesn't it?

And his name is Spud, not Spude, silly me.

As an animal care specialist, we sometimes come across very strange cases and cannot for the life of us figure out their origin! We just do what we can to keep the animal healthy and comfortable. Usually this hairlessness doesn't bother them, we just need to take extra care that they don't catch a chill.
