A tall ship and a star to steer her by ([info]starwreck) wrote in [info]valarnet,

My cliffhanger ended, it turns out my First Officer had to return to his planet to mate. We fought to the death because of some ancient rule or something. Luckily my CMO helped me fake my death, and it still counted.

I don't recommend fighting one of your best friends on a desert planet, when that best friend is as strong as four humans.

My shirts keep getting torn, I'm sensing a theme here.

Not content to let me rest, the dreams threw me into a situation against a planet destroyer. Watched a good man lose his mind, then his life, with an obsession to destroy it.

It really was. He lost his crew and blamed himself.

That's really sad. I'm sorry he had to deal with that.

I'm not sure how comforting that's supposed to be.

His sacrifice showed us how to beat it without losing my ship and my crew. That's how a Captain should go out.

I guess so. I couldn't It's probably a good thing I'm not a Captain. I'm not sure that's something I could do.

It's a risk we take in our line of duty. But better me than my crew.

Yeah. I guess I can see how that would be the case.

Maybe it makes me a fool?

I don't think it makes you a fool. You're probably not the only one that feels like that.

Not everyone can do that, and it's fine.

Yeah. That's why I'm not the Captain. For the sake of everyone.

You'd make a good crew member. Maybe in another position.

Not sure you'd like the skirts though.

Why? Would I have to wear the skirts?

Only if you want. Some crewmembers worse leggings with the skirts and a few wore full pants.

Very short. Feels like something you'd see in the 60s back when that kind of thing was a feminist statement.

Most of them manage, can't say that the male crewmembers would be able to!

I'm just trying to figure out how I'd do field work in a short skirt. Are the tight skirts or flowier? I could probably swing it if it's a little more loose.

They're not too tight. Really comfortable boots, too.
