No. No we are not dressing up the animals at the zoo for Halloween.

What the Hell?

I'm getting told I'm not encouraging a "kid-friendly atmosphere" because I think dangerous animals deserve respect. Getting dressed up is something a person gets a choice in. How am I supposed to ask a wild cat if it wants to wear a costume? One roar for no? Two for yes?

Give me a break, people.

I could. If you want.

Give me a break or ask my animals what they'd like to be for Halloween?

Don't be ridiculous, you've a brilliant job and I'm not the absurd person who wants to dress your animas up. No, I'd certainly be happy to ask them for you!

An animal... what? They've got shrinks for animals now? Strange times. No, I only speak practically everything. Animals aren't terribly complex.

They do have those. I see. Sure. If you want to come chit-chat with my cats, come by the zoo. I'd be interested to know how they like the changes I'm making.

Hah! What a living! I'd be delighted to do that! Don't mind if I do, not at all! Happy to help! My name's the Doctor these days. What do I call you?

I will speak with the director today about all of this. My e-mail only asked that employees dress up I'm not an idiot. The volunteers at the kitchen have bought some large pumpkins for the cats to play with tomorrow if that'll be alright.

They're going to make a mess with them. I think it could be fun. You think the kids will like seeing them tear the pumpkins up?

That's the plan, I think. Good, and yes, I think they'll enjoy seeing that.

How old are they? You might want to invite them out to the zoo for Halloween if they're still young enough to enjoy it.

I think one is a teen now, and the other is still young. They don't live close, and it'd be too short notice to have them fly out. Maybe I'll get out to see them for Christmas.

You really haven't seen them in a while, huh? I'm an only child. I always thought it'd have been nice to have a sibling. Family is something you can't replace.

No, it's been a long time. I love my sister. We do talk as often as we can, but between her job, and family and then my job it's hard to find the time.

Never been much of a corporate climber myself. I did my service to my country then I went out on my own to work with animals. I wish I had more family sometimes. Other times I'm happy to be with the wild life. They understand me better.

Thank you. I try to give my animals the respect they give me.

Bwaaaaahahahaha.

Why the hell would anyone think it as a good idea to put a tiger into a costume? I've seen people trying to put house cats in them and it always ends in blood and tears.

I have no idea. My guess? Too much late-night Tumblr has rotted their brains. Memes do not equal reality, people.

Mountain lions can eat a person.

Yeah, my dreams have shown me a lot in terms of animals eating people. It's probably best if people don't provoke them by trying to dress Simba up as Bozo the Clown.

Well, we don't have African Lions. These are mountain lions which are also called puma or cougars. I worked with lions like Simba in Vegas though and let me tell you: I would have personally taken someone down if they'd tried to put one of my lions into a clown costume.

Clowns are evil.

They all look like oversized cats to me, some just have more hair than others.

You can't trust them. No one wears that much make-up unless they're trying to hide something.

That is the best reason to not trust clowns I've ever heard. It definitely trumps "Don't do it because they're creepy."

My favorite was putting a series of painted cat tunnels around the giraffe's neck so it would look like a Sandworm from Beetlejuice.

...if it weren't for the fact it's cruel to the giraffe, and probably to the zookeeper in charge of it, I... actually could get behind this idea.

I handle most of the animals with behavior issues or any behavior issues at all at the zoo really. It was a little funny. Creative. I'll give the guy that.

All the more reason you don't want to be stuck dressing up the animals. And I have to agree, I've never seen a sandworm at a zoo before. And sadly I will never get the chance.

Sadly they have yet to tame the wild fictional beast. One day around here the fabric of reality might right however and we will all get the chance to behold the sandworm in all its glory.

In the meantime? The giraffes are very friendly and if you want to experience something cool, I'll show you how to feed them from your hand.

At least for a few seconds until we're swallowed. Unless sandworms only eat ghosts? I'm hoping they only eat ghosts.

I would love to feed them! I promise, I won't bring any cat tunnels with me.

That'd be an interesting image, trying to get a mountain lion into a Halloween costume. Have the dumbasses telling you you're not being kid-friendly to give it a try and see how well it works out for them.

Why can't just giving the big cats something like a pumpkin to toy with be enough? Kids are easily entertained. Pretty sure that's what they'd do at the Bronx Zoo.

My boss suggested the pumpkin! I'm thinking it'll go over well. Hoping it will at least.

People are dumb. Sometimes? The Darwin Awards are hosted because it's necessary to keep the population in check.
