Believe it or not, I have never seen any of the Saw movies. Eleven years after the first one came out and I'm watching it for the first time now. Ya know, this would never happen to the Dread Pirate Roberts.

I haven't watched any of the Saw movies either.

I don't watch a whole lot of horror movies cause I have a young daughter, but she's at my parents' for the weekend so I decided to watch some.

How is it? Is it scary or a gore fest?

Mostly gore and suspense.

Is it as good as people say?

Yeah, it's pretty good so far.

I can't believe its been eleven years since it came out.

I haven't watched a good horror movie in a long time. I guess this would be the time of year to fix that.

Exactly. That's why I'm taking advantage of my daughter not being here this weekend.

How old is your daughter?

She's ten.

So, she's the same age as the movie. That kind of puts things into a kind of perspective.

Actually, now that I think about it, I think I was eleven or twelve when I saw my first R rated movie.

What about the Dread Pirate Roberts?

If Cary Elwes were the Dread Pirate Roberts in Saw, he never would have been taken and chained up in a grungy bathroom.

Oh, the actor who plays the Dread Pirate Roberts is in Saw?

Yeah, he's one of the main characters.

Oh, that makes a whole lot more sense, then.

I probably should have been more specific so it made more sense.

I really should have put two and two together. Sorry about that.

Saw's a good movie, then? I haven't seen it.

Y'know, I used to kinda like watching horror movies.

You don't like them now?

I dunno. They're kinda less fun when you dream in horror every night.

Very true. Are your dreams really that bad?

Dying in 'em isn't the giveaway? It's all late nights and slaying things that go bump in the night. They're bad.

The first three are pretty good - they balance the gore and plot - but any of the ones after that are just gore with no plot. I like gore, but there has to be a plot to justify it.

I'll probably watch the second one after this. Maybe the third one tomorrow.

I feel bad for the guy that played Jigsaw. His voice is so distinctive, I doubt he'll get work being anything but a serial killer.

More, worse horror movies.
