With today being the UN World Day against Trafficking in Persons, I've collected links that might be of interest, as well as informative.

Noy Thrupkaew TED Talk on how human trafficking is all around you.

#igivehope Campaign.

Vital Voices: Stories, ways to get involved.

Interactive flow chart and how to be a conscientious consumer.

[Links dealing with human trafficking in facts, comments undoubtedly to reflect the same.]

It's good you included the flow chart. There are many things even the average consumer, employee, or business owner can do to help prevent forced labor and fraudulent recruitment processes.

There really is. It's about being aware. The TED talk even mentions how those who are advocates against trafficking can end up inadvertently giving money and donations to organisations which use trafficked people without realising it.

Oh, absolutely. It's a crime that is easily missed. Today I was actually reading about training efforts in airports, since they're a trafficking hotspot. Makes sense, and if more people are trained to spot the signs that's thousands of extra pairs of eyes.

And always that layer of deniability. I believe it was a couple weeks ago, we released a viral video on whether hotels know the signs of trafficking or if they remain purposefully oblivious.

right, hotels are another hotspot. It happens not only in the sleazier places but five-star ones as well, which not many would assume. I'm sure that legal teams for the big chains would go with the notion of wanting to remain tight-lipped so as not to associate the hotel with illegal activity, but hotels need to be part of the solutions, ultimately.

All the more reason to raise awareness. Because there continue to be these misconceptions. Because of course they will want to remain tight-lipped. Business.

Shady lawyers, etc. Gives the rest of us a bad name. A positive sign though, that some big chains like Hilton have signed onto EPCAT.

But how are you, by the way? Staying busy?

It only takes a few. I do remember reading about that, though.

As always. Some family matters to tend to so I've been more busy than usual. How about yourself?

Not to mention that lots of random things tend to go wrong here, which kind of enhances the busyness sometimes.

But oh, well enough on this end. My internship is about done, I've just got a week or so left.

Precisely. It can be quite the challenge to keep up with it all and prioritise.

Really? That must be exciting in its own way I would think?

That it can. I've been working on Russian though? A friend's been teaching me, in exchange for Italian lessons. You'll have to try to hold a conversation with me sometime, and not laugh too hard.

It is! Very much so. Then comes other lawyer-to-be preparations.

Is that so? I look forward to testing your skills then. I promise to do my best not to laugh.

Ah yes, then there are those. Still, it's one step closer to your ultimate goal so that's good.

Languages are my superpower, so I hope my skills aren't too awful. I planned to go to the Russian deli in Costa Mesa and order in the language just to give myself a test. Should be good, right?

One step closer to putting 'Esq' after my name, very exciting.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Oh yes, that should certainly be good. I may have to go just to observe, that and I do enjoy them.

Very prestigious.

Have you been to the one in Costa Mesa yet? I hear it's quite good, so yes, you should absolutely join me. Whenever you're free, of course.

I mostly feel the need to stock up on chocolate.

I have a handful of times. And I have been informed that I do in fact need to eat lunch, so I can always go there on a day that works.

I can see that.

Lunch is important, I'm glad someone informed you. And I tend to work later hours now so anything during the day works for me. I'll stock up on Russian chocolate and savories and be satisfied.

If only there were enough hours in the day. But yes, how does [time date] work for you? And that does seem like it will be a good plan for you in terms of chocolates.

That works for me. It'll be good to catch up too; I always prefer doing it in person rather than online anyway.

Useful. The last thing I want is for my products to be made with this kind of labor.

I imagine most people wouldn't, it's simply being made more aware.

You're not entirely safe even when using local sources, because you still have to get your materials from elsewhere!
