My dreams would make fantastic video game material, I think.

There's a little boy in green with a fairy that sneaks into the castle courtyards, and I send him off on some sort of quest to gather the remaining spiritual stones to assure some Gerudo King doesn't access a super powered plane of existence. Because some triangular relic lies there, constructed by the goddesses, supposedly able to grant wishes to whoever touches it? Except, he does get to it, after he storms my castle, kills the king, and watches the little boy open the Door of Time with a magical ocarina connected to the time stream.

The relic in question splits into three because of this king's imbalance, and him, the little boy (now frozen in time) and myself get a piece.

Some things in my life suddenly make a little more sense, except for the part where Impa says my ears look particularly pointy this morning.

Should you be drinking while you're wounded and recovering?

And I heard about the outages! I'm hoping it's a quick fix? Or this place is going through one of its moods, perhaps. How mobile are you? You can always take your brother to a movie while this passes.

Naw, it's fine. Not that I've really asked the doctors or anything. It's not like I can do much else right now, might as well knock back a few to pass the time.

I decided to take him to the park to read. The kid really doesn't get out enough.

'Naw, it's fine.' So convincing! I'm still trying to find my poison of choice. Something that isn't wine.

Good alternative. How old is he?

I can't see what harm it would do, so long as I'm careful not to mix my painkillers with it. Wine's really more of a last resort for me. I don't understand why it's so popular when beer and whiskey are clearly the better choices.

He's eight years old. Spends a lot of time playing video games and reading, though I've been working at getting him interested in a couple of sports too.

I can stomach some beer. As for actual liquor, I don't know. I've done it mixed, as it's hard for me to drink them straight. Why anyone thinks it's good is beyond me, but I suppose they do it more for the effects and not the tastes!

You're his sole caretaker, correct? I know you mentioned your mother passed.

There's not a lot that hits the spot on warm days quite like a nice, cold beer. Drinking liquor straight can be rough though. I don't really drink rum or vodka unless they're mixed with coke or something. The way winos go on about it, you'd think it tasted like fucking rainbows and sunshine.

For now I am. He normally lives with my aunt and uncle in New York, but he's staying with me for a while. Luckily my friend Sharon's been helping me out though.

They do act that way, don't they? I've had my moments where I've drank it all straight, but I can't possibly do that on a regular basis. I think after too much just tasting it would make me nauseous.

Having help must do wonders. Your job would seems pretty demanding as it is. You don't want to be stretched too thin.

The trick is to drink until you don't taste it anymore.

I don't know what I'd do without her. With the hours we keep, I think it'd be next to impossible. She's having her own kid right away though so I might need to find someone else to take him while I'm at work though.

Very sound advice there, actually. You might have to give me a demonstration after you're a bit more recovered.

Well, I could probably take a couple shifts, if you need a hand? I used to work constant double shifts at a diner, but it was somewhat obliterated during the plague of demons and vampires, so now it's a boutique shoe store with less demanding hours. I've more time on my hands than I know what to do with lately.

I'd be more than happy to do exactly that!

That would be a godsend. I'm pretty sure my friend's gonna pop next month sometime, but if you'd like to make Chris before let me know. He's a pretty sweet kid. Ugh, and more with the vampire talk. ... I really hope that doesn't end up being like the dream talk.

Fear not, I'll make sure you don't stumble around or lose your pants like a friend of mine did.

Absolutely! What's his guilty dessert pleasure? Ice cream? Frozen yogurt?

I am proud to say my track record for not losing my pants when drunk is pretty good.

I don't think Chris feels guilty about any of his desserts. He was off ice cream for a couple of weeks after I accidentally let him eat enough to make him sick, but he seems to be warming up to it again.
