Sarah Connor is cursed to be ever vigilant ([info]ever_vigilant) wrote in [info]valarnet,

I didn't want to believe in all of this. Oh, I've read the reports - how many times in one year can a water supply be laced with LSD? You'd have to be purposefully obtuse to ignore that this place is strange.

Then there was the naked man in my backyard, who happily demonstrated his ability to heal by stabbing himself with a fork in my kitchen.

I'm only two dreams in to this bizarre world filled with time travel and robots whose sole purpose involves killing me and my son. Anyone would like to believe that this world doesn't exist. A world where, in the future, a machine would be so angry at its creators as to blow up the entire world.

But I'm washing blood out of my sheets and have a hole in my shoulder. I can't ignore what's right in my face. Even if I wanted to - and believe me, I want to. If this rabbit hole goes as deep as they say, I have to be prepared.

Next time you get a hole in your shoulder you are going to the doctor sooner.

It wasn't that big a deal, girly. We probably had enough sutures in the first aid kit.

It was a very large and bloody hole.

We aren't talking about the hole.

It was messy. Are you sure you're okay?

I'm fine.

And the mess is mostly cleaned up anyway.

You were shot in the shoulder, you're lucky the bullet didn't ruin your arm.

It wasn't a bullet, Cameron. Can we not do this?

Hypothetical dream bullet. This isn't supposed to happen. This is bad. This is really bad.

It wasn't a hypothetical dream bullet, either. Though that explains some of the other things that hurt.

I was... stabbed. But either way it IS bad.

Stabbed is a little bit better.

It's the implications that make it bad.

I went crazy in that dream-- We've seen what this can do. If I wasn't on assignment here we'd already be packing our things.

And the less he knows about what goes on here, the better.

There's only so many times they the 'LSD' scenario can be recycled, and frankly, a new excuse might be necessary. Or we have some impressive drug lords in the area, and considering this month's luck with the criminal activity, it wouldn't be the most surprising thing.

As for the naked man in the backyard with the ability to heal, that's surely a new one. Congratulations.

Preparation is good, but no one can exactly be prepared for what this area tends to gift you with.

Oh, I'm mostly focusing on the part where I prepare for this area to gift me with killer robots from the future.

Though I'm wishing right now that it had gifted me with the ability to heal.

Killer robots. That will be a first. Usually it's something of the magical nature. It'll be a refreshing change of pace if it does happen, I'm sure.

That'd be convenient, wouldn't it? Instead it gifts you with the opposite - a bullet hole, from the sounds of it. At least you haven't died.

Terminators aren't a refreshing change of pace. They don't feel remorse or pain or fear and they absolutely will not stop until you're dead. And they're hard to stop, any other way.

Not a bullet hole, no. A puncture hole. You wouldn't believe me if I told you were it came from. _I_ don't even want to believe it.

Sarcasm. I honestly don't think the arrival of killer robots to be a good idea, nor do I want them stomping around these grounds. Do us a favor and keep them in whatever dreamscape you're experiencing.

You're most certainly welcome to try me.

I'd love to do that, but I have a feeling that this is something I won't have any control over.

One of the more advanced terminator models is made of liquid metal and can change its shape. It doesn't even need a weapon to kill you. It just turns its fingers into pointy sticks.

You're quite reassuring, thank you.

That sounds irritably inconvenient. Mine involves trying to take over a kingdom and enter an ethereal realm, and then I'm bested by an elven boy in white tights. If only 'trading dreams' was a literal option around these parts. Yours seem much more dignified.

If only. I think I'd be alright with some elven boy in tights showing me up if it meant I could escape the rest of this.

You, too, can have an exciting life involving washing blood out of all manner of clothing. All you have to do is sign up for the ATF.
