If I have been subjected to this dream phenomenon, they seem like nothing more than simple dreams. There was little that was particularly poignant, and, having experienced at the very least four separate ones, one of them is nearly useless and another far too coincidental.

But they felt different than other dreams you usually have? Like...almost like a past life?

Considering that one of them had been a situation I had experienced here with slightly altered circumstances, I cannot say it amounted to anything more than a simple dream. It was strange, but with the fact that something similar had happened, it's difficult to assess if it was truly the same phenomenon.

Really? Like...the same thing happened? That's strange. I haven't heard of that before.

Or it could be you playing out that past life.

In a manner of speaking. One of them involved my meeting of a man I met a few weeks ago.

I have my doubts. It would be far too coincidental, and I try not to believe in coincidence.

Just meeting someone? No crazy attacks or aliens or death?

It sounds so normal! People will be jealous of that.

Why not? Believe in coincidences that is.

One of them involved a dog, one concerned the story of a young man who drowned in a swimming pool and the last involved meeting someone. The most farfetched of the group was my working as a consultant for the Scotland Yard.

If what I have experienced thus far are these fabled "Dreams," I'm glad they're nothing but trivial things. I doubt dreams are anything worth jealousy.

It's unscientific. I don't believe in luck or fate either.

How is that farfetched? That seems like something quite possible. Are you from overseas as well?

People have been dreaming such crazy things that I'm sure they would wish it was trivial things like this. Almost like a break from the insanity.

Oh. Oh! So...let's say you discover or begin to believe that these dreams are what people are saying they are. How would you go about trying to prove the science behind it?

I only ask because it's piqued my curiosity and I'm not really sure how to try and find answers.

Consulting the Scotland Yard in a detective's capacity is not exactly a common occurrence. England.

I try not to get involved in the trivial. Trivial is boring and I don't like boredom.

Without relevant data, I can't begin to formulate a logical, working theory. However, I have a few methods by which to test the potential origin of these dreams.

I suppose you're right, but it's definitely a possibility!

I'm from Marlow! Have you ever heard of that tiny place?

Well this trivial isn't boring, I swear. At least with the idea that's behind it.

You're very scientific...you seem the type of guy that could figure this out!

Will you keep me posted? I'm so interested in what's going on, but I don't have the right head to really look into it. At least I don't think so.

I'm Rose by the way!

A rare one.

Vaguely. I rarely travelled outside of London, with the exception of my stay in Kent.

Unless I get more information, I have to agree.

I make my living with scientific theory. I should hope I had half the skills to attempt to figure this out. If I learn anything, I am not adverse to sharing it.

Sherlock.

You seem...very proper. Has anyone told you that before?

Brilliant, nice to meet you Sherlock! If you need any help sleuthing about, let me know! I can do my best to help!

Not in so many words, but the idea has been expressed rather frequently.

I will certainly remember the offer, Rose. It was a pleasure.

Fascinating. How could you tell these were different from normal Dreams if they seem like nothing more than simple dreams?

Is that the way to differentiate this particular phenomenon? In any case, without more information or more "Dreams," I am writing these off as nothing particularly unusual.

I would assume there is some way to differentiate Dreams from dreams. There seems to be a consensus on Valarnet that they are different.

I can't say for sure that I have had any Dreams like the other members of Valarnet have insisted.

Well, if I am to go off of the other poster on this message, mine are even more worth forgetting as they do not have any fantastical elements to them.

What have you dreamed of then?

Only reliving my childhood in New York. The only difference is a set of books that I can't find or explain.

These "Dreams," can you be sure they are nothing but simple misfirings of the brain? What are the nature of these books?

No. I have no idea if these Dreams were any different from your run of the mill dreams.

The books are about a fantasy world. Children travelling there and having adventures.

Then yours are similar to mine in that regard.

They seem unremarkable.

The only remarkable thing is that they don't exist in this world. Though, when I dream I'm obsessed with them.

[info]brainattic

That is rather interesting. What makes them worth obsessing over in the dreams?

I'm not sure it has to do with them. I think it's more a Dream-Quentin-Coldwater thing.

He leans on the obsessive side.

Based on what you have shared thus far, these books seem pointless and the fact they don't exist here is the only interesting thing about them.
