Snow? Here?

If I had wanted snow I could have gone home to the Midwest.

I do have to say, however, that snow is quite a beautiful thing, and something I am still not used to even after all these years, especially considering I spent my younger years living in Africa.

I know exactly what you mean. I moved out here from Boston, not expecting to have another white Christmas then two years ago it snows. Then it snowed again last Christmas. Now it's snowing again this year. I'm still a little shocked about the whole thing.

Is it only in this area? It's really quite strange that in a state known as "Sunny California" there would be consistent snow year after year.

I sent pictures to my parents who think I'm playing a practical joke on them.

From what I've seen, it's just Orange County. No idea why.

Yeah, my family didn't believe me at first either. Then my mom saw it on the news and so she had to believe me.

How strange.

Yes, the same thing also happened with my parents.

I wish I had some snow boots at the least. I will end up snowed in before too long if I don't go out and shovel.

I do at least have my boots still. I don't know what I decided to pack them when I moved, but I'm glad I did.

You are not the only person not used to it. The people down here don't seem to be able to drive even in the few inches that came down.

As a Canadian I am, of course, quite used to snow in even larger amounts than what has come down so far.

I've noticed. It's disturbing how quickly the local population panics. I narrowly avoided two accidents this morning. It doesn't help there was a delay for classes by the time I got there.

I've had my share of blizzards and large amounts of snow, but I'm sure it doesn't compare to Canada.

You're right. It is beautiful. I only hope people are being safe out in it.

It does remind me of home. I just forgot how bothersome it could be driving in it. So far people have either pulled over in a state of panic, or nearly caused accidents at several intersections. Perhaps I should have just stayed home.
