Hi, Valarnet. My name is Hazel Grace Lancaster, but you can just call me Hazel. I've heard this is THE place to be on the Interwebs, so here I am.

wow, that was lame

Are there any other book lovers on here? I am completely obsessed with post-apocalyptic fiction right now. I don't know what it is about that genre that has sucked me in, but I think it's really interesting to see all the different versions of the future. So many of them are realistic in the sense that you can see it really happening. I guess it makes me wonder what the world will really be like 150 years from now. I know I won't be around to see it and that's kind of sad, but I still like trying to imagine it.

Hi Hazel! I'm Myrcella, welcome to Valarnet :D

I love reading, I have a huge collection of fairy and folk tales from all over the world. I can't say I've read a lot of post-apocalyptic books, but are there any you'd recommend I start with?

Well, the Divergent series is pretty popular right now, but I also pretty partial to Wool by Hugh Howey.

Hi Hazel,

Welcome to the area! I'm Theresa Gray and I'm so book crazy that I actually own a bookshop! You should absolutely come down and see the selection we have! I find post-apocalyptic work intriguing too, all the what-ifs!

Which bookstore is it? I've lived in the OC for half my life, so there's a good chance I've already been there!

Hi Hazel, I'm Davina. I like to read, but I don't usually read post-apocalyptic stuff. For me it's usually fantasy or history related.

I ready pretty much everything Icahn get my hands on, actually. I've just been on a post-apoc kick lately. Next week, it'll probably be vampires or something.

I'm not saying the future will be awesome. I just think it's interesting to think about what it might be like.

If you're lucky you'll get to dream about a future

Maybe in a 150 years we'll be spanning the stars. There might be some really scary shit up there.

Books are good. Books are very good. Not so much apocalypses but I read a lot of history ones personally.

That's the thing, though, we don't really know what to expect and that's what makes it such a fun and interesting genre. All these authors have very different visions for the future in their works and there's no telling if any of them are even close to what reality will be.

Welcome to THE place to be, then, I guess. It's definitely populated by a unique community.

If you haven't read Margaret Atwood's Maddadam trilogy, you should. Post-apocalyptic sci-fi at its best.
