Days like this with stacks of paperwork staring me in the face I begin to wonder if it's true and lawyers actually are evil.

Only most of us are evil, if that is any consolation.

I'm not even sure if that's actually a joke or not right now.

I've been told the only joke a lawyer tells is "You won't pay me a thing if we lose."

I think my boss has something like that as his personal cell phone message actually.

If I remember correctly, my mentor when I became part of my first firm had that comical "cha-ching" sound as the alert tone on his phone.

Perhaps evil does have a sense of humour.

They might at anyone who isn't the intern.

Ah, I take it you're the intern? The joke might be at your expense, but I'm quite certain it's the paperwork you are complaining about.

I am. And it was the paperwork. I feel it's constantly at my expense, but you don't join intern at a firm if you can't take a joke. Or was that too bold?

I choose to believe there isn't a thing as 'too bold.' All of us have been interns at one point, and we have all been at the butt of a joke. The turning point is when you turn it against them. Every intern who has done that, I've then taken on as a full partner. Word of advice.

Most of the lawyers I come into contact with are your average anti-hero.

I guess you wouldn't see the anti-hero filing paperwork.

Is that something that lawyers do?

No, mainly it's intern work. Reasons you don't think of lawyers and papers.

Ah, that's understandable. We have employees who do a lot of that, too.

Depends which side they're on. I think they just like the power.
