Have you ever noticed how loud it is in an empty house in the middle of the night? You expect the deadly absence of sound but the space is filled with noise instead. The soft humming of machines, water gurgling in the pipes behind the walls, the soft sighs of floorboards stretching, the quiet rustle of carpet fibres relaxing.

Funny how you never hear them during the day, as if they're all playing dead and only dare coming back to life when they won't disturb anyone. They're very considerate, the things in my house.

~~It's so sad.~~ It's kind of cute.

	Clarity doesn't need to be that frightening, I think it's pretty exciting sometimes. Think of what a boring life you'd live if you never realised anything new, or never understood something with a new and different light? You'd never grow, or change. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

I don't think so, no. Or at least, I certainly hope not.

But you see all the time these people who suddenly discover at the age of 80 or 90 that they're awesome folk artists, or who still keep themselves up on technology and things. It's not outside the possibilities of the human race.

I guess it depends on if you think you're done growing and changing. Maybe you're already where you need to be, but if you were, how would you have suddenly noticed these new things?

Me, I hope I'm never done.

I notice these things because I can't sleep because I sit on my arse all day, doing nothing except call people or read things I'm not too interested in. I could exercise, I should exercise but gyms are so depressing and golfing isn't that exhausting. Fox hunting is prohibited here and I don't have a horse, besides, or a rifle which is a good thing actually.

Oh, and I'm Robert by the way. What do you do?

I really do mean all that.

There are places you could probably get a rifle if you wanted to practice shooting, and horse stables, too. There's all kinds of exercising you could do that isn't boring, too. A lot of the time the reason people don't exercise when they should is that they don't want to. The more you sit and stay, the more you're going to keep doing that. Sir Isaac Newton says so, and I trust him.

Melatonin is a nice supplement you can get at the store that helps you get into a more relaxed state and makes sleeping more easy, which is helpful if you're all wound up after an exciting day of reading things you're not too interested in, but it makes your dreams more clear. I hear everyone on here is having a remarkable dream experience as it is, do I don't really know how much help that'd be.

I'm River, and right now, I'm a ballerina in training. Also an intern with Aperture Sciences! We're testing portals! Very exciting stuff.
